This is a good little motel. Not overpriced. Front staff pleasant. It is another one where you have to ask to have the rooms serviced, or ask at the front desk for replacement supplies. Extra coffee pods are $1.00 each. Like most of Nanaimo, there are lots of homeless people around, so the hotel has a large fence along the sides. The lower floor at the back is below ground level so the lower rooms face a retaining wall. Front rooms have a view of the water.
Restaurant next door appears to be part of the operation, but is only open Weds to Sun and opens at 9:00 for breakfast. Appears to have a seniors menu if you can wait that long.

Room pleasant, light, clean. Bathroom could use a little maintenance (caulking around tub, fixing shower head), but otherwise n goid condition. Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Parking lot is monitored with several cameras (probably necessary given the proximity to services for transient people).

This was a low cost motel just outside the town.

Nice big carpark, my room was right next to reception which made it slightly noisier than I would have like - with the extra footfall but it wasnt enough to matter.

The room was fresh and clean, so seeing some of the previous reviews I guess they have renovated recently.

I had a nice dinner at the diner next door and I was given a discount for my meal.

In the fall of 2021 I booked a suite and room with this outfit. In the New Year I called to confirm the booking for March 2022 and the booking no longer existed . No one called me to alert me of this and the room booked was no longer available. Very poor business and I should have run in the opposite direction then. But instead, we booked again, 2 rooms for March 2022 giving them the benefit of a doubt.
Well upon arrival, the visitors went to check-in and were told that was not possible, it was necessary for me to check-in as they have my details on file.
So my friends go to the MGM Restaurant and it was fantastic and they use to own this motel and it use to be fantastic too.
While my friends were at the MGM I was in the office; the phone rang and it was about 25 minutes before I was addressed. Then he said 'we do not accept locals'. He then played with paper and looked around a lot and appeared to be struggling with what was in front of him and maybe another 10 to 15 minutes later he looks at me and says I must give him a $200 deposit if my friends are to stay there. In addition he charged the visitors an added $25 to have 2 keys to the room.
Unfriendly, unaccommodating and we all wish the owners of the MGM Restaurant still owned it - go to the Diplomat across the road. The MGM is a short walk.

We checked in and found a very dirty facecloth in our room. Lights were burned out and the ceiling fan had not been cleaned in a very long time. We should have done some research prior to just arriving. We were tired, but certainly regret not taking some time to find a better place

We stayed in at the end of October 2022. The room had had a filthy carpet and was run down but we put up with it because we were just staying for one night. After we left, the hotel put through extra charges over $200 on our credit card without explanation. I asked for help from Expedia who had handled the booking. They were able to tell me that the motel is accusing us of causing damage to a door that was damaged when we arrived. We are an older couple who simply had a quiet stay and couldn't have caused damages.

Beware of scam damage charges at this motel! If have to stay here, take pictures of all preexisting damage when you arrive.

Our ferry was late getting into Nanaimo, but Erica, the manager, kindly waited well past closing time at 11 pm to be sure we could get into our room. Though rather small, the room was clean and quiet, despite the motel's proximity to the Island Highway. It was equipped with a nice coffee maker. We regularly pass through Nanaimo on the way to the North island, and Harbour Light will be our stopping place in future.

Tiles in the bathroom and plug for bath were stained, found an ant in the bath
Carpet and bedding were stained.
Worst part was the traffic going past at all hour day and night looking forward to getting home and a decent sleep. Reception was good if you dont mind being told about god when you arrive :/

Basic motel about a 15 minute walk for the town centre. Comfortable room, but a little noisy being on the edge of a main road. Nothing wrong, but wasn't that cheap (Vancouver Island is pretty pricey). Free parking was a plus. A place to sleep, but nothing more.

Stayed here, next day found bed bugs all over our bags and clothes. Tried to contact the hotel to let them know and they apparently don't care. Was room 222. Really bad that the hotel doesn't care about bed bugs. Do not stay here

I think you are asking if the Harbour Light Motel is pet friendly. We were not traveling with our dog so I can not answer that question. Maybe you can call the motel and ask them. We also have accommodations but in Nova Scotia. If you are asking if we allow pets than the answer is yes. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you but i have been out of the country for a couple of weeks.
