Just a heads up because we love the hotel… We stayed last summer for about 2 months after a fire in our home, so we’re quite familiar with the hotel. This time we only needed accommodations for one night so we called the reservation service and were quoted $287 for one night. We were offered no discounts, so it was too expensive, and actually excessive, in comparison to other hotels in the area. However we like Inn at The Quay, so called reception directly. They quoted $173 for the night. Had we not called and been treated in a friendly manner (as usual), we would not have stayed. We won’t call the reservation line again. Great staff, great service, and had a wonderful winter evening reading by the fireplace in the lobby.

We booked for a “way after wedding party”. Our daughter picked the Inn after researching several locations in Vancouver. Your event organizing team was superb, attentive and helpful from the very start of the process. We paid a couple of visits to the inn to look at the facilities and met various members of the team. You’re fortunate to have such well-trained ,informative and helpful staff. On the day itself( I think her name was Shaylene )was incredibly helpful, even blowing up balloons & organizing the event space. I travel frequently for business and medical conventions at some of the highest end hotels in Canada. I was expecting a “rubber chicken” buffet I was impressed by the high-quality of your catering. It equalled or exceeded similar events I have attended at the Fairmont, Four seasons , Wall centre, Sutton etc. The late snack buffet was also of high quality , delicious with varied offerings ,including mussels. Your rooms were clean and comfortable with furniture that matched the nautical theme. The location is superb. I would also like to thank the bar staff at the reception itself, who were pleasant and helpful. Your staff are well trained. They frequently went the extra mile. When we arrived the rooms were ready for the other members of the party, but not for ours (father and mother of the bride), the receptionist personally went and checked on the progress for our room and hurried up housekeeping. Similarly when our daughter thought she left charging wires in the room ,she sent someone up to do a thorough search. The location is superb, the meeting space ideal with the bonus of the wraparound outside balcony. So kudos to yourself and all your staff. We would certainly recommend the hotel for similar events. Your facilities and attentiveness contributed to a wonderful family and social event.

I spent a few nights there a couple of weeks ago for work and I will disappointed with how loud it got there in the middle of the night. You could hear everything and I did not get good night sleeps and it made for a difficult day the next few days. If you are wanting to stay somewhere, make sure you are on the west side of the building. I hear it was a lot quieter on that side.

The pillows and bed were ok. Room was a fair size. Some of the furniture was well used. We stayed two nights as part of a group. We had a balcony which we could have used had it not been raining. We had room on river side so could watch the boats.

Clean, friendly, quiet, comfortable, great location, awesome shower pressure. Check in was easy, check out similarly easy. There are a lot of small businesses in New West, down by the Quay, the market has good coffee, too. Our hotel room came with a gift certificate to Boathouse, the restaurant next door, we had brunch there and it was adequate.

A great location. Convenient to go to restaurants, shops and the skytrain station to downtown Vancouver. All rooms have nice views of the river. The staff are very professional at this hotel. Our room had some nice touches, like wine glasses, and fluffy robes. Some aspects of the room can use an upgrade, but the room was clean and the bed very comfortable.

We had a great stay and highly recommend the Inn! What was great: friendly responsive staff (easy to extend to late checkout; patient when we had to replace our key cards!); lovely view of the river; super comfy bedding and pillows; clean room; plus the event venue and food were excellent.

Thank you for the opportunity to describe my Inn at the Quay experience. I was booked for a day procedure at Royal Columbian Hospital at 6:00AM on Saturday May 20. Because I was travelling from out of town and had to be driven home (as a requirement of the procedure) I elected to travel by train to Vancouver and then New Westminster on the day before, Friday. On Tuesday May 16 I booked a room at your hotel for the night of the night of Friday May 19 for $389.00 ex-taxes. My plan was to take a cab to the Hospital and then my daughter was then going to drive to town to pick me up and drive me home after the procedure on Saturday. After travelling to New Westminster I had time to kill because I called the Inn at the Quay to see if I could get an early check in but was told that you were very busy and that was not possible. The hospital recommends attending with only your care card for security reasons. For this reason I had my BC Care Card and the credit card I used to book the room in my cellular phone case. During my wanders I lost my phone. Fortunately I had a significant amount of cash so I got a cab immediately and attended at your hotel. I explained my situation to the clerk on the desk and she said that she could not check me in without the credit card I used to book the room. I asked her if you would charge that card with the room price if I had not shown up and she agreed that that was the case. When I asked if she could just charge the card and let me stay she said that the situation was different and was against your policy. I questioned her further and she summoned a person form the back office who agreed that the situation was completely different and actually said “Sorry, we can’t help you.” When I suggested cancelling the credit card transaction and paying in cash that suggestion was also turned down. Reason was lost on these two minions that are trained to be slavishly obedient to your rules and policies. I am sure that if you question these two they will agree that I was polite and courteous throughout our encounter. After several attempts at circumventing their indifference I felt that I should leave before I started to get mad. As a competent, attentive and businesslike hotelier I am sure you are aware of the saturation in your market on any given day. If you harken back to May 19 you will recall that all of the other hotels in New Westminster and as far as Port Coquitlam were completely booked. No matter, I was able to avail myself of a comfortable chair in the admitting lobby of the Royal Columbian Hospital from 4:00PM on Friday until 6:00AM the following morning. Except of course when I had to leave the admitting lobby while the janitors polished the floors. Because the Emergency Room lobby was full I was able to meet some of the interesting local street residents that were outside at 2:30AM. The questionnaire you emailed me “after my stay” to comment on my experience does not have sufficient space to fully describe my experience at the Inn at the Quay. It gives me great pleasure to answer your questions in the same order that they are presented in the email; “Please rate the overall service you received:” Customer service implies serving the customer. I had already paid with a credit card and was therefore a customer. Your two worker bees were only interested in getting rid of the problem and certainly not in helping a customer in a jam (a customer with credit and cash). “How likely are you to recommend the Inn at the Quay to a friend or colleague?” I have already described the caring, helpful attitude of the Inn at the Quay staff to whoever will listen and intend to continue doing so. “Please rate your overall check-in experience:” Can’t comment. You wouldn’t check me in. “Please rate your overall checkout experience:” See above The remaining questions are about rating rooms and the rest of the hotel. Can not comment on any further questions except the last one. “Do you have any recommendations to improve the quality of your next stay with us?” I will make life as easy as I can for your hardworking, compassionate, imaginative and caring desk staff. I shall not darken your threshold and I will ensure that anyone I speak with will choose other accommodation, even if I have to pay for it. I will do all that I can to ensure that the desk staff never have to bother themselves by dealing with another guest ever again. It challenges their humanity and kindness beyond their capacity to cope. All at the Inn at the Quay deserve a good long break and I fervently hope it starts soon and lasts forever.

Good morning Marc, I will share the email I had sent you on May 30th . . . Thank you for your detailed response and I am really sorry that we could not accommodate you. Unfortunately due to the amount of fraud in the world, the credit card companies have very stringent rules for the hotel industry; I can’t comment on other industries. We must have the card, swipe it and authorize it otherwise they can and do charge us back. Louise was the Guest Services Agent who tried to check you in and she typically is very sweet and polite. It was myself who came to the desk and unfortunately declined you. I would have let the no id pass, and if you did have your care card that would have helped; unfortunately that had gone missing with your phone and credit card. I did ask if you wished to pay by cash but you did not have enough, which is totally understandable as you were following the instructions the hospital provided. I doubt you wish to return to the Inn at the Quay should you need to in the future, however if you do, we are not awful people and I’d be happy to personally take your reservation and assist you. I hope the surgery went well and you are looking forward to a full recovery. Thank you.

We had a wonderful stay! The room was lovely and clean, very comfortable. The restaurant was very nice and the little cafes along the boardwalk were all very good.
