Stayed here 2 nights. Love the location, close to little shops and great places for food and near the Boardwalk. The room was spacious and clean. I love the historical feel to it. The staff was courteous and helpful.
Is NOT PET FREINDLY! Seeing people getting SHAFTED into single bed rooms instead of the reserved KING bed rooms Plus had my best friend DENIED after calling 2 days ago asking if a support cat was allowed, only to be TOTALLY DENIED when he showed up on their HONEYMOON as they were MARRIED at noon yesterday! If this is the way YOU THE HOTEL treat customers, I've just canceled my booking for a month from now... you can keep the empty room, I'll go somewhere else with this attitude!
Was a nice stay until one of the hotel staff gave away my credit card info to someone in Britain and the US. Got charged $160 and it had to have come from the hotel because I had no previous charges on my credit card. I will not be staying here again and would not recommend it to anyone.
Chose the hotel for its convenient location for our city appointments. We stay in Greater Vancouver often in similarly priced hotels, so for our $140 we expected nothing fancy, but a clean/safe room for a good sleep. Instead, the room was substandard (normally would have asked for a different one, but were too busy between appointments to deal with moving). Super worn-out carpet, big stains (didn’t want to walk barefoot) and tears where the bed’s wheels cut into over time. A disgusting stain on the bed skirt and a bunch of hair on & under the sheets. Other peoples’ hair also in the bathroom (floor, shower & on the ceiling). No sink drain plug so we were scared of dropping things down the drain. Overall the room was in desperate need of TLC, furniture aging, paint peeling off the window ledges, several electrical cords hanging sketchily/under tension under the desk. Bed was comfortable, but we only slept a few hours due to the skytrain noise. The station was right underneath our single pane window (with a big cutout for the a/c, so even less soundproof), so it sounded like we were sleeping in the station, with trains going in/out every couple minutes. To add, a few things made us feel uneasy – a guest (?) in the lobby obviously under the influence/high on drugs mid-afternoon (+ an upset taxi driver who tried to get her to pay her fare), a bunch of rowdy folks hanging out outside the hotel/the adjacent bar, and the fact that the front door needs to get locked at night.…
Clean and modern rooms with air conditioning which was much needed. The reason for 4 stars was it lacked some amenities. There wasnt a lamp, we had to ask. There wasnt a USB port. There was no hair dryer. We werent put off and would stay again. The location was great and sky train was right next door pretty much. Which us great if you want to go to Vancouver.
I stay here a couple times a year when I come to visit my son. This time I am in #438, which is nice with no one above me (being a light sleeper) If you come by the transit train, it is literally 50 feet from the Columbia street exit, and you can see into the beer garden when you leave the train. Rooms are always very clean and both the bed and pillows are very comfortable. Even though my room faced the train station, I never heard a sound all night or even in the morning. Wi-fi is good, but their credit card machine is finicky. It wouldn’t accept my visa, although it worked perfectly good in the attached bar 5 minutes later. Other customers also had issues with it. But this is always a great place to stay in New Westminster.
The Met is kind of a quirky hotel. It is old and a bit tired and dated but at the same time it is clean and comfortable. The staff are really friendly. There are restaurants and a Starbucks very close by. Lots of parking across the street. To be honest I was worried prior to my stay because it was so inexpensive, but it was a good stay. It is fantastic value.
There are no dining facilities on site there is a pub/restaurant next door but usually not open until 1100 in the a.m. There is a subway a step or two away, and more on Columbia St and at the New West station which is a ten minute walk or one can jump on the train ! There is also several stores including pharmasave and Safeway and a movie theatre, a Landmark :) at the new west station also an A&W at the new west station, also a strip type mall another five minute walk from the station with more restaurants and THE best fish & chips ever at the Cockney King ! The Met is an old hotel, still has metal keys! There are seating areas outside the rooms and it is a delight to stay in an historic site ; the train station is so close; One can go any where on the Transit Sky train :) Last but not least! The price is so good, and after all one is out and about and just needs a place to sleep and the rooms are a good size and beds are comfy I have stayed here several times and unless I have an early flight that necessitates me staying closer to the airport, for me and my husband ,it is the Met every time! Staff are friendly!…
Beautiful and comfortable, clean and tidy and if you need it Free Wi fi \There is a bar style restaurant down, stairs which gives you a discount if you are staying in the hotel, and also a liquor and wine store. The hotel is only two doors away from the Skytrain station which takes you down to the Waterfront and the fare is very reasonable. It is also the means to link up with other train routes and buses. Staff are so helpful when you need advice for travel, eateries etc and the area has may shops and markets If you do have a room at the back of the hotel you will overlook the Skytrain station and have the noise of the trains coming and going, however it is a noise that you live with and becomes a background noise and did not spoil our stay Most recommended
Close to sky train, bus routes & restaurants. Heritage Bar & Grill with live music. Good food. Near a Army & Navy Store, 100 years old this year. Love looking around in it. A old Improve Theater near by.
