Really enjoyed my weekend saty here. Although the room is quite dated (it is a 50-year-old motel after all) it has all you need. Great location, great pool, friendly guests and all-round great value for money. And huge thanks to the Boowmont staff for helping me get to the airport when I was having a hard time getting a cab. I'll be back!
The Bowmont used to be a great value - not fancy but good facilities, very clean, friendly staff and great location. That has unfortunately changed with the new ownership. This was our third stay, first under this new ownership. Our room wasn't ready at check-in so we had to wait for it to be 'cleaned' - I'm not sure what they were doing while we waited, because the room was not at all clean once we were allowed in. Sink, dishes, kitchen walls, bathtub etc all had visible grime that we cleaned ourselves; dirty dish sponge left in sink from previous guests. The previous owners were meticulous about keeping the grounds clean and tidy, where now there will be litter on the ground every morning, pool towels left hanging everywhere. Just generally fairly gross. It's unfortunate because the location is perfect and it is such a cute quaint motel that is great for families, but with the way it is being maintained now we won't be returning.…
I booked this motel for my family for a 3 night stay and we were very disappointed. Based on other reviews and the information on the website we were expecting a clean place where late night noise is not tolerated. The kitchen was not clean. All of the utensils and dishes had to be washed by us before using, the dishes were all wet though they had been stacked together in the cupboards, there was food splattered on the wall and food caked onto the can opener. The linens for the beds and bathroom were clean but there was quite a bit of mildew on the shower curtain and around the tub. During the first night the occupants of the next suite had a drunken party that went until 5:00 am. No calls to the front desk were answered. We notified the frontdesk staff the next morning and learned that there is absolutely no staff available from about 6:00 pm until 9:00 am the next morning so unless your issue can be resolved by calling 911 you are out of luck. As there is no staff around during the night there is no way they can enfore their own rule of quiet time from 11:00 pm - 8:00 am as stated by their website. This is false advertising. And while the front desk staff promised to follow up on the issue they didn't get back to us when they said they would and seemed surprised when we followed up with them and they then tried to avoid the topic. The 2nd night the party started at 3:00 am. After 2 nights of next to no sleep we decided to find another place for our last night in Penticton since sleep was required before a 5 hour drive. Penticton is otherwise a lovely place, friendly people and great food. It is unfortunate that we had to waste so much time on finding alternate accommodations for our last night just so that we could make sure we were well rested before a long drive.…
We just got back from our annual trip to Penticton. We’ve been staying the Bowmont for so many years that I’ve lost count. We thought we’d give the near ownership a try. Our room wasn’t ready when it should have been. They said they needed 1/2 hour to clean it. What enhanced Covid measures? I decided to wipe things down with Lysol wipes. The wipes were filthy! The floors weren’t cleaned. The office is open 9 to 5, so you can’t get any help or clean towels for your room after 5 pm. There was a huge party one evening. The whole outside area was full of unmasked people. Children were unsupervised in the pool until all hours. It was incredibly noisy wel into the night. We didn’t see any staff after 5 pm - ever! I think it’s a free for all after that. Done with the Bowmont!!!
I came here for the 1st time with my kids and loved the motel. The room was large and the staff were very friendly. My fridge stopped working but they brought me a new one right away. Thank you for a great getaway with my family. I am hopeful we return next year.
I have been returning to the motel with my family since 2005 and this March the Motel was sold to new owners. I was assured by the previous owners that the reservation I made 2019 (closed for 2020 due to the pandemic) would be honored in 2021. I did receive an email in March 2021 which I confirmed my reservation for August and asked them a question to which they responded. The usual protocol is that I would receive an email a month before our stay and call to pay the one night booking fee. I realized after the long weekend that I did not hear from the motel so I sent an email to which they did not respond. I called and talked to someone who has been hired to work the front desk and explained the circumstances and he said he will look into it and call me back. Approximately 10 minutes later I receive an email saying that my reservation has been cancelled due to the fact that I did not confirm the reservation by April 01. I was able to find my email string confirming my reservation and emailed it to the motel. I then called (no one seems to answer the phone now) and after many unsuccessful tries I got the front desk. I spoke with him and told him I sent the email with the confirmation. He had a look at the email and apologized but said that they are now full for those dates but will have the manager get in touch with me in a few days. After 2 days I did not receive a response so I got on the phone and attempted to call, again after many unsuccessful tries I left a message and sent an email. The manager did call me back and I again explained the situation. The manager said that those dates are now full and there is nothing he could do. I said it is you that dropped the ball and he replied "Let's not start playing the blame game". It was never the motel that captivated you (average at best) it was the owners, staff and the families you met over the years. It is apparent that the change of ownership at the motel lacks any form of customer service or empathy unlike the previous owners Dan and Christine. I will never return here again and will let the dozens of families I have met along the way my personal experience in 2021.…
I been going to the Bowmount for a number of years and my last visit was the worst. The hotel has always been old and rundown, but the owners were great and their hospitality made up for the tackiness. The hotel has new owners now, and has gone totally downhill. Now it’s just tacky. My room was not well cleaned, the bed sheets are thin and stained, the deck was not cleaned and there were beer cans and cigarette ash from the previous guest, the bathroom is old with stained sink and tub, they ran out of hot water for one whole day, the office is only open for limited hours, etc etc. I could go on, but why bother, just don’t stay here. Too bad the previous owners sold.
I didn’t even get to stay here because when I showed up the door was locked and no one was in the office. I rang the doorbell several times and called the number on the sign but no one answered. When I reserved the room online, their website said the hours of operation were 8am - 10pm. I arrived a few minutes after 8. The sign by the door said no check-ins after 5. They should update their website. I did finally get a call back when I was checking into a hotel that actually had staff there. The guy mumbled something about summer hours and didn’t seem concerned at all.
This is our second stay here. Its an older property and needs a coat of paint BUT it would take away from the charm of this gem. Full kitchen, big fridge, large bedroom and deck off the back. Pool and hot tub. 3 BBQ’s in the central courtyard for giests use. Near lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Owners are amazing. A must go to if you are visiting this area. This motel was a gem! From the pleasant and helpful staff to it's convenient location our weekend stay was a delight. Even though it's an older facility, we found it to be very clean and well maintained and the unit we stayed in was spacious with every appliance we needed and quiet. Highly recommend.
