I always think people should book based on the reviews, so if you are paying half what other properties are charging, then you might be getting great value - for the price - but maybe not receive the amenities. Either way you know what you are in for. This motel is a prime example, I paid a lot less and basically got exactly what I expected. I'm saying 'very good' because it was cheap, and I knew what, or what not to expect.

The check-in/out was very quick and efficient. The staff was friendly and the billing was accurate.

The room had recently been renovated so the door was 'sticky', from the fresh paint. I was informed of that so not a problem. The 'fun' began in the room, it is now the 'shoulder' season so the fridge and AC were not turned on. Once I figured this out on my own, it wasn't a problem and both seemed to work well, though the AC got a little loud in the middle of the night.

Microwave oven, coffee pot, and old-school TV with lots of channels were just fine with me. The new beds were awesome, very comfortable indeed. Lots of free parking outside and the location was fantastic (in town for a concert), and you could walk to restaurants, a pub, grocery store, liquor stores or whatever within minutes. If tubing, this is right on the canal.

Would I stay here again? Yeah, if I was coming to a concert or whatever. Just paying for somewhere to sleep, this is good and then some. If you're trying to impress...well, no...

We have been traveling to Pentiction for over 5 years during the time of peachfest, we have stayed at the hotels on Lakeshore which were very costly during that time. The Ogopogo Motel is where you must be! It is right across the street is the channel and a short walk to the beach. It is also, near a grocery store, pharmacy, a gas station and Tim Hortons. This was our first time staying at the Ogopogo Motel and I must say the room were very clean; the beds were new and comfortable. The mangers were nice, friendly and accommodating making our stay worthwhile. We will be coming back soon!

I stayed at the Ogopogo Motel from August 6 - 14, 2015. The beds are new and super-comfortable. Also, Ron and Rose, the managers of the motel were just amazing. They are very friendly and went out of their way to help us out with any needs.

There is a BBQ area and a pool area that's great for suntanning. The location of the motel couldn't be better. Just across the street from the entrance to the channel, where you can float from the Okanagan side of Penticton, ending shortly before Lake Skaha. The motel is also close to Lake Okanagan, with quite a few restaurants and shops near by.

I don't have any real negative comments, but just so people are aware, the wi-fi signal is very hit-and-miss. But you're not really in Penticton to be on your computer, so it's not really that big of a deal. Also, be aware of the semi-loud air conditioning unit (they work very well, but occasionally get a little loud, probably because they were run pretty much all day, as it was in the mid-30s throughout my entire stay) and the TV's are old and could use an update. But there are lots of TV channels offered.

All in all, I really enjoyed my stay, and will definitely be returning to the Ogopogo Motel next year.

We stayed here for two nights and could not believe the disgusting bathrooms that never got cleaned even after numerous complaints. The men's bathroom had feces on the ground and the showers had sewer water coming up while showering. We will never return again.

we have been staying at the ogopogo motel for the past 5 years our small group of 6 has grown to approx 12 this year. i have never had trouble reserving a room , and even had the managment make exceptions to get my grandpa in with his motorhome. The rooms over the past 2 years have been updated in the way of beds , paint .. ac in all rooms can be a bit nosey however cools the room. the shower heads however are very low so you practically have to be kneeling down , and some have very strong water pressure or fluctuating tempurature. up until 2 days before our trip this aug long weekend i " would" have highly recommened this motel - besides the fact it is old it was very convenient.
however after our experience with the managment between our group and 2 others there this trip I " would STRONGLY" recommend never booking here !!
the guests who have payed to stay here including oursleves were treated with very poor , and down right rude attitudes. the managment had an episode where the police had to be called due to the drunken / aggressive behaviour shown by managment towards everyone in motel.
sad to say as it " was" a favorite go toO - BUT now never again

Response from Rosemary J, Manager at Ogopogo Motel
Responded Aug 9, 2014
As managers at the Ogopogo Motel, we quite often do not respond to negative reviews as it can seem as though we are just playing tit-for-tat, but we do at times feel the need to tell both sides of the story especially when a review is quite embellished! We also have the right to refuse service to any guests who do not respect and abide by motel rules, do not respect motel property and do not respect management. We should not have to tolerate guests who show no respect for anything such as breaking new furniture at the pool, partying getting out of hand, smoking marijuana and shot-gunning beer along the sidewalks, not using butt buckets provided, but rather put cigarettes out on the sidewalk beside the butt buckets, leaving garbage all over the sidewalks, and leaving the rooms an absolute disgrace, and this being said, these guests were given a good deal on the rooms. When situations get out of hand, we also have the right to call police and we do have the right to refuse service...we could have and perhaps should have removed these guests before their check-out date, but decided not to.

After reading the latest review, i really have to write this. I found the management the best that i have come across in many, many years of traveling. They were always around, helped out, asked if we needed anything, friendly and did everything possible to make our stay wonderful. It is conveniently located next to Channel and many restaurants and stores close by within walking distance as well.

If i had a question or needed something, they got it immediately. I would definately stay here again.

The physical facility is exactly what we expected for a vintage motel that's showing it's age.

But . . . the beds were brand new and very comfortable and the sheets were clean. The a/c ran cold and the shower had lots of hot water with very good pressure.

Also, the managers were extremely friendly and helpful.

It will never compete with the newer hotels, but they will never match it's price. Decide what's important to you.

I had made a reservation, expecting to check in around 6:30 PM. My work ran a little late and I didn't check in until 8:30. Keep in mind no one said anything about a check in deadline. As soon asI rang the doorbell on the office the manager/owner, not sure which, started yelling and swearing at me about how I was late and did I not realize they had a life?? I started to apologize, realized he was not joking and told him maybe they should tell people if they have a deadline. He continued to carry on so I said I didn't need this and walked out. I had stayed several times before with no problem. He also falsely accused me of stealing the keys before. I say avoid at all costs!!

This place will give me the willies for as long as I live.Where do I start? Filthy bedding (bloody covers and sheets), filthy cruddy walls, black-brown bathtub, peeling wallpaper, etc. etc. Now someone on here said there are bedbugs too! The kitchenette is the only plus, if it were cleaner. You should not raise your price to 115 bux on a busier weekend if you can't match the quality.
