Cute little room in an incredible location! Steps away from the canal, a 5 minute walk from Coyote Cruises. A block from the lake and the strip where all the restaurants and bars are! Outdated decor, although the bathroom looked recently remodeled. The room had a full size fridge, kitchen sink and stove/oven, and even included some dishes! There was a back door that opened to the courtyard where the pool is, although it was closed when we went. I noticed quite a few cobwebs on the property, which could be a result of a pared down housekeeping staff due to Covid. Overall, a great stay, and would stay there again on my next trip!
We are not 5* luxury people, so it does not bother us that the motel is a little outdated. It's clean and has a great location for families. Across the scooter park with a paid watch person, the adventure park, the channel float entrance and around the corner from the lake, it's just great. I think you could have made it work opening the pool, which would have given you the 5th star in our rating. Other motels along the stretch made it work. Will see you again soon.
We recently stayed at the Riverside Motel. It has been newly renovated (a few of the larger units are not quite finished yet - the renos are that new!) beautifully done. It is a nice motel suitable for families. The pool is in a courtyard away from the street. We had a room with a patio overlooking the pool. The motel is nice and clean. The owners are lovely. And the location is perfect. Close to the beach, the canal cruises and right across from Loco Landing. It seems to ba a place that families return to year after year, and large family groups like to gather for reunions or special occasions. They must love it! We had a kitchenette, BBQs are available. I’d stay here again.
My wife and I stayed here with a group of friends in August. This wouldn't be a place we would typically stay but it was clean and well kept, the kitchenette in our room was well equipped for light meals with a stove, microwave, fridge and basic needs. The people made this place, great service and really friendly. There are quite a few rules to follow here - no noise after 11pm and drinks close to the pool, even in plastic glasses were a not allowed, but understandable from the management's previous experience with former guests as well as the family environment they are promoting. This place is in a great location, 5 min walk to the beach and a selection of restaurants and a 10 min walk to the closest Starbucks. Across the street is a small amusement park and the canal that has a company that picks you up and brings you back from the other end after an afternoon float. Make sure you bring beach/pool towels if you stay here as they aren't available, the hotel staff was nice enough to give us extras to use by the pool since we didn't know before arriving. All in all a good stay but would probably look elsewhere next time to something that we would normally book into.…
The rooms need renovations but you can’t beat the location. The cleaning staff were very accommodating to our teenagers that wanted to sleep in. Management was a bit odd. We had friends staying at the Bowmont motel and the Riverside shares a parking lot with the Bowmont. We were consistently going back and forth. Management called my husband to ask what our room number was and if we had another room at the Bowmont. It was odd and shouldn’t have mattered in the least to Riverside management. The Riverside also has a patio table in a quiet spot on their front lawn. One evening we decided to have dinner there and we were approached by management asking what our room number was. This wasn’t odd, but then they continued to approach us and with different excuses. Then they finally said that the spot was reserved for their executive suite and we found that odd because there were no signs posted saying the area was a reserved area nor did anyone else sit there throughout the week and a half we were there. …
We booked 3 nights with a kitchen unit and were satisfied with the room and facilities. Before we left we made sure to clean out the fridge, wash all the dishes and counters. Once home we were surprised by a late charge of $75 for cleaning! When we inquired on the charge we were told the floor was dirty and had food stuff on? We had three rooms and each group indicated they had washed all the dishes, and cleaned up appropriately. To add to the insult we left it dirty was their comment that the rooms left at unexceptable(sic) stage and they would not take a booking again for our “group” and we would be more comfortable at another property. To what extent is a guest required to do cleaning? Scrub the floors? wash the windows? What a clip joint. I advise all not to stay there but if you do, have them check out your room before you leave or be prepared to be dinged extra charges for nothing. I think they need a course on customer service. We have stayed there 4 times over the years but never again. I have checked with the folks in the other units and they say they swept and cleaned up with as best one could without a broom or vacuum. Their response was very condescending and rude.…
I would never stay here again. Do yourself a favour and go stay at Golden Sands. Heidi the manager there is a lovely person. The manager here is plain rude and not at all welcoming to families. He shouldn't be in the hospitality industry full stop. Hidden cleaning charges added without merit. This motel used to be good but I would never stay there again.
Everything about this hotel was great. The rooms were clean and updated. The kitchenette was a bonus. I checked out a day early and they had no problems refunding me for the night. The beach and numerous restaurants are within walking distance. Would defiantly stay here again.
Our arrival to Penticton was a little later than anticipated as the drive from the Vancouver area takes one through some beautiful countryside. The motel office is a pleasant place with various characters hanging around. You aren't really sure who is running the show but, everyone is friendly and helpful. It is very welcoming and reminds me of a 50s sitcom. The rooms in the motel have kitchenettes and numerous propane BBQs are set about the property for the use of the guests. The centre of life in a motel is the pool and the Riverside had one in constant use. About the entire perimeter colourful towels hung across railings along the balconies. There were no rooms to be had the night we arrived and were told this is typical every day of the summer. Many people are repeats, returning year after year. I understand why. The management and staff keep this old gem in tip-top shape. The rooms are old. The beds were comfortable and clean. The rooms are well maintained and clean also. Eventually renovations will be required, however everything worked and I slept well. For a summer or fall wine tour or any visit to the area I would recommend the Riverside Motel…
I was a bit iffy pulling up to this motel after a drive along Lakeshore. We found out our booking through Expedia was cancelled due to a declined card and we did not get any kind of notification. I had to click on my confirmation email and then click 'View my Itinerary' to see it was cancelled which surprised me for Expedia. Thankfully they had a room for us anyway and it was the same room and same price as we had booked. Upon walking in to the room I was pleasantly surprised. It looks like most of the room has been recently redone! Nice hardwood flooring, new bathroom fixtures and a great, comfy bed. Especially loved chatting with the proprietor at reception.
