Stayed in the West Wing for the first time, other reviews mentioned noise but I did not notice this other then the drunks getting out of the bar late on Friday night . Very nice room on the 6th floor, the bed was comfortable and linens were excellent quality.

Hotel's Favourite
Travelled in late September for an anniversary/birthday celebration trip. The staff set us up with a complementary bottle of white for our celebrations - great touch. Fruit and cookies available with turn-down service in the early evening. The room was an executive lakeside suite and was very spacious. I would say the pictures others posted in their reviews of the exec suite are accurate - that's what I used to gauge where to book. Would stay here again. The view was great - could see the beautiful lake and Naramata bench and all the beach to the steamboat. The 'living room' and the bedroom had floor to ceiling windows or patio doors - very bright and great for just sitting and watching the water. The bathroom had double sink; great feature. Small fridge, coffee maker, 2 tvs, pull out couch, balcony... parking not included! 10$/day. There were no other places nearby we could find with free overnight parking. Hotel pool and hot tub were empty and good to check out. The in-house bar was a bit dated but ok. The restaurant (hooded maringer) in the back near the water was pricey but also good. The Japanese gardens were walkable; as are likely other shops and restaurants down the street out front. The hotel has a wine store attached that has free tastings for people staying at the hotel. The only downside was the king bed was a tight squeeze in the layout they had. Only about 1.5 feet on either side of the bed to the walls. The red decorative throw on the bed had some disgusting human fluid dried to it.... never touch those things!

Response from PentictonLakeside, Manager at Penticton Lakeside Resort & Conference Centre
Responded Jan. 3, 2020
Hello and thank you for your fantastic review of our resort! I'm so happy to hear that your experience with us held up to our standards especially in terms of our service and hospitality. Yes, the views of Okanagan Lake and the entire landscape are spectacular and we are so proud to call it home. Paid parking is a standard premium that is enforced throughout the downtown area here in Penticton. I certainly do appreciate your feedback in terms of the Barking Parrot Bar and the Hooded Merganser Bar and Grill! They are certainly must-do's here at the Lakeside along with visiting the Great Estates Wine Experience Centre. Uh oh! I am very sorry to hear about the pillow in your room. That is certainly not something that is common with us. Please note that this information will certainly be headed to our Housekeeping department to ensure this won't happen again. However, if you ever face anything like it while staying with us, please do not hesitate to let our staff know and we will handle it immediately. Cheers, and hope to see you again soon!

This hotel is in a great location and we really enjoyed the beach as it was super hot during our stay. The front desk staff were always extremely pleasant. Our daughter was staying in another room with her children and we did feel that there could have been some better dining options for children. The reason I gave this resort three stars was the room cleanliness. People are even more sensitive to this because of Covid and I found the cleanliness of the room on arrival totally unacceptable. There were pretzels and a canned drink on the floor, along with part of a children’s toy and a half used tube of Tums. If they are not going to enter your room to provide any services during your stay the very least they could do is ensure it is adequately clean on arrival.

We arrived on the day the provincial health restrictions were lifted a bit (July 1) and were shocked to see everyone walking around in the hotel/restaurant/bar/indoor pool deck/elevators with NO MASKS...the most disappointing was that the staff were not wearing masks. People without masks were piling into the elevators and barely respecting people who didn't want to share due to them not wearing masks. It was a bit overwhelming and we did not feel too safe. Yes masks are no longer mandatory but not everyone has been vaccinated 2x and you may want to wait a bit longer before throwing all caution to the wind for the sake of patrons who are still being cautious. Here are some pros and cons on the actual hotel. We go to Penticton every year and have stayed in many places: PROS -nice property right on the lake/across from farmers market -was easy to get a chair/table at the beach -snacks/pop/juice on beach at $2 each -able to order lunch from the bar at the beach (you have to pick it up) -parking was plentiful -free bottles of water if you ask -great towel service at beach/pool -spiked pina drink was strong and good -pizza and beef dip at bar is good (chicken tacos not so much) CONS -staff unmasked, even in restaurants -beach and water is dirty. My kids didn't like going into the water due to huge amount of grass/debris. When you come out you are covered in it. Have to leave the 'private' beach and go further away for clean entry into the water -hard to get a staff to answer when you call room service and front desk -very expensive to stay here -buffet was mediocre at best (only eggs, bacon, sausage, toast) -indoor pool is dank and scary (but nice to cool off in) -no one is monitoring pool or limit of 10 people at a time -you have to pay $10/night for parking (add that to room cost) -gift shop is WAY overpriced -'lake view' is not always straight on...you may have a structure in the way first -air conditioner is controlled centrally--may be too hot or cold for you

Response from Guest Services, General Manager at Penticton Lakeside Resort & Conference Centre
Responded 3 weeks ago
Dear Guest, Thank you for your thorough and comprehensive feedback. We very much appreciate the time and care you have taken to reiterate your insight into your particular experience at our resort. While we can absolutely appreciate your apprehension about being around others who are not wearing masks, we do however strictly follow the Provincial Health guidelines and understand that as we officially enter into Phase 3 of our reopening, masks are no longer mandated. We encourage all our staff members to make that very personal choice on their own and to do whatever they need to do to feel safe and taken care of and supported. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed our central location situated directly on Okanagan Lake and were able to spend time at our private licensed beach as well as explore our local Farmer's Market just a stone's throw from the resort. We are likewise very happy to hear that you enjoyed our food and drinks at the Barking Parrot Bar, one of several on-site restaurant venues and amenities, and that the service you received met all expectations. On the other hand, we are disappointed to hear that you did not find our front desk service as prompt, and that you found the resort to be on the expensive side. While our prices remain incredibly competitive compared to other resorts throughout the valley, it is important to us that our guests have access and ease to all amenities, service and venues at the resort in order to imbibe the whole experience. It is important to note that while the pool and hot tub area is open to all guests, we are no longer restricted as to our capacity by the Provincial Health Order, while gyms, pools and recreation facilities can now operate with normal capacity. We thank you for your patronage and for choosing to stay with us during your latest visit to the South Okanagan and greatly appreciate your time and consideration with your review. We hope that should you choose to stay with us again in the future, your subsequent experience will prove to be as relaxing, joyful and luxurious as all our guests come to expect. Wishing you a wonderful and joyous summer!

We are very disappointed with the service we got from our latest visit to Lakeside Resort Penticton. We checked in on June 28th. Our room was on the 5th floor and when we got there room keys weren’t programmed properly and we were unable to open the door. I went back took 10-15 minutes to go through the line and reprogram my keys. Got back to room and when opened the door room smelled so bad we were unable to stand in the room.I went back and complained about the bad smell. They gave me another room just one door away and the room was still with bad smell. I thought OK I need to live with the bad smell and started unpacking. When we opened the fridge door, it was so filthy with juice spilled & dried & with hair stuck to it. I took a picture and went back and asked for their manager. Their front desk clerk Bobby, he lied to me and said he is the manager. I showed him the picture of the the filthy fridge, he gave us another room on the 3rd floor & a voucher for $25.He also promised us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience but never got one. Received very poor service from this particular attendant. Chairs in this 3rd room were also dirty and stained but at this point I was too tired to go back. On the plus side the restaurant staff was very friendly and food was great. Location of this resort is great Overall I will not recommend this place because they are not sanitizing their rooms properly and front desk staff lacking customer service skills

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback and your insight. It is most regrettable that during your stay with us you did not receive the level of service we pride ourselves in and you, as our guest, should always come to expect. Please know that our staff are dedicated to every detail concerning the overall experience at our resort, and that we do take special care to ensure that each and every one of our guests feels comfortable, at ease and taken care of. Our housekeeping team is particularly dedicated to the cleanliness, sanitization and care of all our rooms, despite the restrictions placed upon us during the Covid-19 pandemic. While we can absolutely appreciate your frustration from this most unfortunate experience, we are likewise grateful to hear that you were able to enjoy one of our on-site restaurant venues. We hope that this particularly unique experience does not dissuade you from choosing to stay with us again in the near future as your patronage and feedback is always deeply important to us. We are in the business of hospitality because we truly love serving and connecting with our guests and people, and providing a safe, relaxing and comforting environment, in which one can find great respite and rest.
