Had a great stay for a wedding in Penticton. The rooms were clean but could use updating in the original building. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I avoided eating at the hotel because of online reviews so I can't comment on that. Proximity to the lake is unbeatable.

Great location, very clean, helpful staff, comfortable beds, spacious rooms. Appropriate measures in place such as elevator maximum, hand sanitizer, physical distancing markers. Mini-fridge in room, wifi worked well. Our room shower in the main tower had a very low ceiling and shower nozzle. Wouldn’t be comfortable for someone taller than six feet. Bathroom could use some updating but it was clean and functional. I would recommend staying here.

Hello ryvcin! Thank you for your kind four-star review. We're so happy that you enjoyed our prime location, clean, comfortable, and spacious rooms, and helpful staff. Yes, we are certainly taking the appropriate measures to promoting social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols and procedures as advised upon by the BCCDC (BC Centre for Disease Control). We do apologize if the shower was not a comfortable height for you. Our West Wing suites are built with large, spacious showers with waterfall showerheads - we certainly recommend you trying out a night there on your next stay. We appreciate your recommendation, and look forward to your next stay!

This hotel is in a great location and we really enjoyed the beach as it was super hot during our stay. The front desk staff were always extremely pleasant. Our daughter was staying in another room with her children and we did feel that there could have been some better dining options for children.
The reason I gave this resort three stars was the room cleanliness. People are even more sensitive to this because of Covid and I found the cleanliness of the room on arrival totally unacceptable. There were pretzels and a canned drink on the floor, along with part of a children’s toy and a half used tube of Tums. If they are not going to enter your room to provide any services during your stay the very least they could do is ensure it is adequately clean on arrival.

I wish I could have a list of good things to say about our stay. Unfortunately, I have very few. We booked our rooms through the website, as I am a healthcare worker and desperately needed a few nights away with my son. We were excited to get there and see our beautiful room with a lovely view...however, our toilet didn't work within 5 minutes of getting there (my son went to the washroom and it wouldn't flush....). I called the front desk and they offered to move our room as the maintenance person was off in 10 minutes. My son was in the shower at the time so we were told to just call back when he was out and we would get moved. I called down once we were ready to go and then was told they would call us back, 20 minutes later, no call. So I called back down and was met with an attitude from the front desk person about changing our rooms. It honestly seemed like they had forgotten about us and at this point, I really needed to use the washroom. Finally someone came up and gave us the keys to our new room and I moved all our stuff there. We then went out to enjoy the rest of our night only to come back to a brutally warm room with no functioning AC. It had been unplugged and when I tried to plug it back in it lit up and then seemed to shut down again. Since it was almost 10pm at this time and I needed to get my son to bed, I left it and called the front desk when we woke up. Someone came to fix it while we were out, however, we were unable to adjust it. So instead of a warm room, our room was freezing cold. At this point, I was over complaining and just made sure my son was under the blankets whenever we were in the room, which isn't easy when you have an active 5 year old but he was shivering otherwise. Our last day there, we went to the buffet for breakfast and the food was cold, our server never brought us drinks until we were almost done with our meal, no salt and pepper ever made it to the table.

Once we got home, the charges appeared on my credit card. I was under the impression that when I booked the room that it would be charged to the card I used at the time of booking as my father offered to pay for the room for the time being. All charges were put on my card (which is fine in the long run, least of my worries at this point) however, I was never sent a receipt of all the other charges. So I am not even able to make sure everything was charged properly.

As someone who has been in and around the service industry all my life, I am not one to complain often as I know things happen from time to time. When you're spending $450 on two nights in a hotel, you expect things to meet your expectations. I know with COVID things are a little different in some aspects but I don't feel like any of our issues had anything to do with the current circumstances of what is going on in our world.

Needless to say, we probably won't be returning to your site and advising friends and family to stay away as well.

This was the email I sent them after our stay and received no response. Just wanted to let everyone else know about our stay here.

Penticton Lakeside Resort

We booked a two day get away Sept. 8 to 10, 2020 with a 4.5 star resort expectation, but what we got was a 2 star motel experience. First the good: The Barking Parrot bar was very good, excellent food and staff.
We opted to spend a little more and stay in the new part, top floor, room 664. We were told there will be no maid service due to Covid. That was fine, but we did expect the bed to be made to when we checked in. The bottom fitted sheet was not even on all the way. We were told there is enhanced cleaning due to Covid, but the carpet by the bed on both sides was full of large crumbs. This made me very anxious, there was other evidence of not very much cleaning. The air conditioning worked but so loud that every time it turned on during the night it woke me up. The view was great but as I went out on the balcony the tiles moved, as I just had two knee replacements recently I almost fell. So If I went out there in heels I could have twisted an ankle or worse. Not to mention the cigarette butts in the large cracks between the tiles was unpleasant to say the least.
To check out (which cannot be done in the room like many hotels), you must call them to tell then you are checking out and can not even view the bill prior to paying it. We then decided to try what they call a buffet breakfast. Turned out to be the same breakfast you get a Best Western Motels, only the Best Western is free, hot, lots of food and juice and coffee included. Here it was $13.95 no juice, coffee extra, it was lukewarm at best and three out of the eight items offered was not available. This was at 9:30am, so not not at the end of serving time.
Suffice it to say we will not be back, nor would I recommend it to anyone. I did try to reach out to the Manager, but have not heard back.

We wanted a King Suite with a full lake view, so we paid for the most expensive room in the hotel looking for an experience, not just a room $423.00.
The pictures on the website looked great. This was our first visit to Penticton. What we got was a view of the parking lot and garbage cans. I went back to the front desk and said excuse me, I did not get the room I paid for. She just said sorry, and shrugged her shoulders. So I said at least fix my key because then my husband and I can go to the observation deck they advertise that is on the 6th floor to enjoy our morning coffee and maybe get somewhat of a view. She said sorry if you are staying on the first floor for security reasons you can not access the top floor.
So to be clear the West Wing is an add on to the Hotel built in the back parking lot of the property. To access the beach you will need to walk across the parking lot and walk thru the hotel.
The pictures are deceiving you may be able to see the lake way off in the distance, but first you will see the parking lot and the back of the hotel.
I kept looking up the website because I thought maybe I had made a mistake, it says it is a 4 star hotel. From our experience it is about a 2 1/2 star, so way overpriced. It is not clean and there is virtually no maintenance of the property.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, wackywandae. I'm sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations - especially since it was your first time visiting Penticton. We do apologize if there were any misunderstandings of your where the building is located in respects to the guestrooms although our north facing rooms all have fantastic views of Okanagan Lake. The West Wing is an extension of our main building, still conveniently located just a short walk to the beach. We do have grounds keepers working diligently both morning and night shifts to ensure that our guests may enjoy a comfortable and clean environment during their stay. We certainly hope you decide to visit again so we may provide you with the stay you deserve. Best!

Do not spend your $300 here. My fiancé and I just got engaged called and requested the really nice room advertised on the website for the special occasion. We were given a room that should have been $130 max. There was no bathroom fan so we had to leave the door open to air out the bathroom. There was a knocking on the wall all night which sounded like a laundry machine that kept us up. The toiletries are truly motel standard and they provide enough only for one person. They gave us $10 off for free parking. It was very disappointing. Spend your money at a boutique or at a winery hotel — especially if it’s a special occasion.

Thank you for your review, MandyMoore888. We're sorry that your celebratory occasion with us did not reflect the level of hospitality that we pride ourselves in. When booking on our website, it is important to refer to the room type as the price of the your stay in variable depending on the room. We do regret that you experienced maintenance issues with your room. We have made note of this and have resolved the issue and hope that we are able to show you the stay you deserve if you ever do choose to return.

Stayed in the West Wing again. We have stayed a few times. The room is beautiful and no complaints there. The patio was not cleaned prior to our visit but we ignored it since we didn't need want anyone in the room due to covid. The view was city and lake and was beautiful. The only complaint I have for the room is the sun that comes in so early. Better block out blinds needed. Six am wakup on vacation sucks! What surprised me at this time, which had nothing to do with the hotel, is the lack of care people have to socially distance in this end of the beach. Will be staying in the main hotel in a week, so I am a bit worried. In the West wing, there are less people. Oh...parking is not good. There should be designated spots near the west wing for people staying there, especially since it costs $10 per day. I do think that the room and parking is a little overpriced for a small town, and if Covid was not here, I would spend some of my vacation dollars elsewhere, but what can you do! We did not use any of the amenities so I can't comment. We did use the pool last year, and it is the average indoor pool, nothing special (good for bored kids) but the lake is there!

Stay here for a hockey tournament and was excited to try this hotel at first but was quickly let down. First was the gym... it was apparently 24 hours open but if you wanna use it after 7 pm you have to wait in the lobby for the bell hop to let you in (not convenient) and then you need to leave the hotel to access it which wasnt great since it was freezing outside. The gym also only has 2 pieces of cardio equipment and weights.. it was clean with showers. The cappuccino bar was closed the entire time we were there so we didnt get a chance to try.. wanted a snack at one point so we went to the little shop inside the hotel.. they wanted $10 for a bag of popcorn you can buy anywhere for $3.. so we walked a few minutes down the road for something more reasonable.. We agree with most reviews.. the walls are super thin... loud music and conversation's could be heard well past 12am.. and if you wanted to stay warm the heater work fine if you could figure out how to turn it on.. and it was so loud you couldn't hear the TV. The room and bathroom are dated and on the last night the toilet plugged. There were no maintenance men on duty so a very friendly security guy came up to help 3 times.. toilet was still plugged when we left the next morning..

Hello Cathy - we firstly want to apologize for our tardiness in getting back to your review. Your feedback is important to us and please know that we have ensured that our management has seen and addressed your concerns. Hotel guests have access to Pure Gym & Juicery as an added benefit since they are owned and operated by a separate company. WIth that being said, access through the main doors and juicery are contingent on their hours of operation outside of the hotel's control. The Bufflehead Cappuccino bar is available seasonally, and we do apologize for any inconvenience as your visit did not fall in these times. One of our on-site restaurants, the Hooded Merganser steps away from our lobby does serve speciality coffees both for in-dining and to-go. Three-Wishes Boutique is another amenity that is owned and operated by a third-party company, but we are happy you were able to find something suitable to your liking in a shop close to the resort. Please be assured that we have forwarded your feedback and concerns about our maintenance to the proper departments. Again, we apologize that your experience with us did not reflect the high level of quality that we aim for. We do hope that moving forward we are able to provide you with the experience you deserve.

If this hotel was $100 a night cheaper and considered itself a 3.5 star, then it would be a fair deal. But to charge the premium it does under the guise of a 4 star hotel is unreasonable. The upside: great location, central to many attractions. There is a small private beach which is handy but often inundated with too many people and rental boats coming and going. Rooms are basic, beds cheap. Noisy air con that you have no control in terms of temperature. Lovely location but pricy for what it is. I now know why this hotel had availability while the other 4 and 5 star properties in the region were sold out.
