When I arrived I was just looking forward for a place to sleep and maybe some good company for a little chat. What I found was a very dirty bed with old bloody spots from (hopefully) somebody scratching himself. By the time I got back down the host was gone so there was nobody there to ask for new sheets...

It's an old building, so things are a little run down, probably could use a bit of a facelift. However it is clean, the staff are friendly and the kitchen is large and set up well for multiple people cooking at once. I would stay again.

Before we get into the main issue with this hostel, a few points about the peripheral stuff: HI Penticton had, hands down, the best room we have stayed in over our trip across the West of Canada; recently refurbished and kept very clean, located in a quiet area, it provided the best night’s sleep. Female washrooms are very limited indeed...

Great value. This was a very clean hostel, big kitchen, and big common space. Quiet, since not near a big road and the other travellers kept to themselves. Wifi was poor in the rooms, but that was the only con in our whole stay.

Don't normally hostel but did this time and it was great. WiFi, kitchen to cook whatever you wish, pots, pans, dishes, fridges, ovens, bbq! Tons of pamphlets to show you what's around, they rent bikes...clean and prices are terrific. Great way to meet new people!

The HI-Penticton is welcoming, easy-going, clean and centrally-located. Lisa and her team take great care of all visitors and help them to feel happy and oriented. The kitchen is well-appointed and lively, a place for chatting and making new friends. People often gather on the patio in the back for relaxing and visiting. The beds are comfortable and the rooms...

It's a pretty standard hostel. Our room was clean, the common room and kitchen were large. My biggest complaint would be that they could use another washroom. The location was okay, Penticton is pretty spread out.

Stayed in a private room with shared bathroom - had a good night's rest :-). Clean, comfortable, quiet room with air conditioning! Kitchen and backyard BBQ for guests. Also walking distance to the Main Street, close to restaurants, shops and beach. Very friendly, helpful staff - thanks, I'll be back!

I decided to make an impromptu weekend getaway in Penticton to hear a friend's band play at the Dream Cafe (see my review on Trip advisor of it as well, awesome place). I took the overnight bus from Vancouver and landed in Penticton at 6 am. I had pre-booked a room at the hostel but it was not busy (this...

The location is good, a block from Main Street with restaurants and bars (and a big market on Saturdays) but on a quiet side street. The big draw - the lakefront - is also walking distance. The hostel is in a nice old building surrounded by trees, although they made it a little hard to find the location upon arrival....

“We had a private room located in the corner of the building on the second floor, and it was spacious and quiet, with a double bed (in addition to the top bunk single bed). Rooms right next to washrooms, however, could suffer from some noise.”
