This multi level, many rooms B&B is full of character and for our 5 night stay, lovely guests ranging from couples like us, to families, to singles. Our walk to the slopes was extremely easy. The entrance room to leave skis then walk into a furnished basement with a pool table where boots dried each night was perfect. The living area where a fulfilling buffet breakfast is laid out includes a comfy couch and chairs and a beautiful fire each morning and evening. One night we brought pizza back and watched old Warren Miller ski movies with other guests. Up another level where most rooms are, ours was cozy in size so my morning yoga was in the walk-in basement and to myself less a curious cat. But the dressers was sufficient and a bar size fridge and private bath is a plus for us. Bed was quite comfortable. Hot water for showers. The place was quiet each evening by 10pm latest. Hot tub and sauna- what more do you need? The Host, Martin, is pleasant and ensures his guests are content. He even builds fires outside which the young families enjoyed.

Thanks for the lovely review. We love watching the Warren Miller ski movies - Hopefully they'll bring back the fringe jackets and ballet for 2022. We hope to see you on your next stay through Rossland.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here in July. We arrived very late and tired after a 10 hour drive so did not see much. The big king bed was very comfortable and the balcony is a nice touch. There is a mini fridge in the room. Mark prepared a lovely breakfast consisting of fresh berries yogurt, hard boiled eggs, assortments of breads, granolas, cereals and good coffee. The Inn is filled with quirky memorabilia, so fun to look at. The lounge area with fireplace and great vintage seating is inviting with games, puzzles, guitar etc. Hank the resident doggo and Mel Gibson the resident kittie add to the feeling of homeiness. Mark has created a magical meadow in the forest behind the Inn complete with a funky Saloon. He shared a fabulous bottle of wine with us and told us tales in this unforgettable setting. If you are looking for impeccable cleanliness, modern furniture and sterile environment you’d be better off at the Josie I wondered the next morning if it was a dream. If you are looking for a unique experience, I would highly recommend Ram’s Head Inn.

Had the best time at the Ram's Head Inn. First trip to RED mountain and wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. Coolest hot tub I have ever seen!! The beds are super comfy and the rooms are so cozy. Love that this place is pet friendly and there are lots of dogs to pet. The complimentary breakfast is very good and the common area is a great place to meet new people. Amazing, friendly staff. Please note: if you are a snob who likes fancy hotels this is not the place for you, go stay at The Josie. However, if you are a fun loving person who wants to socialize and have a unique hotel experience you will love this spot!

Had the most amazing stay during Rossland Winterfest. Incredible host, breakfast, soft bed, sauna, drinks out back at the "saloon" with the amazing host, Martin. Walking distance to the hill and the Josie. An incredible time, we will be back!!

Great ski lodge a short walk from the Red base lodge. Great overall vibe. This is what ski lodges are supposed to be. Not for those looking for a generic hotel experience. Loved the common area, fireplace, and the sauna. Room was basic but did the job.

Most of the people I met while staying at the Rams Head had been there before, some from Europe others from the U.S. and as well other parts of Canada. The atmosphere the owners created was totally awesome for anyone on a ski trip, they shared thier local knowledge if requested, produced a breakfast that was outstanding and wholesome (as well as different every day) the hot tub outside with the snow piled high, the ski tuning and waxing room, The main room fireplace blazing after a full day of powder, just so relaxing.Looking forward to going back with my family this year again.

Good value for money but otherwise I didn't enjoy my stay at all. Cons: decor of early 2000 (if that!), bathroom drains all clogged (sink and bathtub), location, bad mattress/pillows (bring your own if you can).

We stayed here 5 nights last week as we were skiing at Red. Our CAT skiing reservations were made last minute and this place was the only place still available.

Location: not ski in/ski out as some of the apartments - you'll need to walk across the parking lot, cross the road and across another small parking lot. Not a lot of parking in front of the lodge either - think they had 14 rooms and maybe enough space for 6 cars at best?

Rooms: where do I start. 2 things I value most from accommodation - cleanliness and sleep quality. Towels were changed upon request but if you leave the room after late morning, they wont tidy up the room. The decor is old and dim, curtains were half falling off their fixings. The room was big and had 2 double beds in it, so you could fit in a family with kids if you wanted. Mattress was soft and the pillows were - flat. I've never been a tough customer when it comes to hotels and their beds but I found myself waking up with sore upper shoulder/neck every single night I stayed there (and I travel frequently for my work so I've stayed at a fair number of different hotels - and have NEVER woken up with sore necks ever). Sink and bathtubs were always clogged and the sink had stains and gunk stuck to it.

Breakfast: breakfast is only served 7:30-8:30, eggs, bacon, sausages, cereal.

Amenities: pool table and room for skis in the basement.

Ram's Head Inn had been a favorite of my husband and mine in the 1990s, when we had stayed several times and enjoyed the amazing breakfasts, meeting other guests in the common room, and the hot tub set in the snow-covered cedars.

Granted, 20 years have passed, and the place now looks a bit worn. But all the lapses seem fixable... ie: several sconces in the common room were out, our bathroom had some exposed wires (capped, but just hanging out) and the door frame was missing a trim board, exposing unfinished sheetrock, There were no kleenex in the room (even cheap hotels have boxes of kleenex - especially in the winter!)

And the much-anticipated breakfast was just a disappointment. There was nothing hot (unless one toasted the store-bought bread). If you're going to attract skiers and snowboarders to ski the challenging trails of Red, you'd better offer them a decent breakfast as a foundation to fuel that effort! Some good, hot, stick-to-the ribs breakfast food...

The setting of the Rams Head is still gorgeous - those snow-covered cedars are magic. But the place needs some attentive upkeep and someone with energy/enthusiasm to cook up breakfasts worthy of this location.

Sorry to hear your experience was disappointing. We work hard to make our guests feel like home. Providing them with free breakfast is a plus not a must. We try to offer a continental breakfast with a variation of items for all kind of palates. We hope to see you again so we can prepare a better big breakfast for you. if you have any concerns please address them directly to our email.

The main issue with this "Inn" is the room size. For north american ski accommodation the rooms are very small - you can't comfortably fit gear for two people in the rooms we had. The double bed + single bed arrangement doesn't help if you're a couple and you can forget about fitting three people in.

The service was also mediocre - especially considering the rates aren't that cheap. We struggled to find someone to help us after our first day skiing and the guy who checked us out was completely clueless. Seemingly unable to check our payment details, he finally realized we needed to pay on departure. Also worth noting that our rooms weren't obviously cleaned during our stay and our towels weren't replaced. Nobody bothered clearing the ice between the building and the outdoor hot tub either, and that was after several days without snow...

On the plus side, the included breakfast wasn't bad, the shared lounge area is very pleasant and the location to the mountain is easily walkable. Still - if i was in the area again i'd much rather drive from somewhere further afield and have a reasonably sized room and better service.

Had the pleasure of visiting Rossland and staying at the Ram's Head Inn last August and we absolutely fell in love with the place. Martin the owner and caretaker was fantastic. He cooked us a great breakfast every morning and on the last day when we were leaving he made us a boccocini, basil and tomato sandwich for the road. Rooms were spacious for us two and we really enjoyed drinking some wine on our balcony. Highly recommend visiting Rossland and staying at the Ram's Head.
