The Starfish Suite was everything I was looking for to have a relaxing and comfortable island visit. The bed was comfy, the fresh baked goods every other day were delicious and the view was unforgettable. Tanis and Paul were warm and welcoming and had excellent suggestions for how to best spend my few days on the island. I'll definitely be visiting again in the future.
Skipping Stone is such a relaxing, beautiful place with hosts who treated us more like valued guests than customers.. The room we stayed in was well-appointed with a comfy bed, a kitchenette, and a nice little bathroom with a great shower. Upon arrival, Tanis got out the maps and the guidebooks and gave us the lay of the land, pointing out all the must sees and enough recommendations to last a week. All the recommendations were on-point; restaurants, cider/beer/wineries, artist studios, hikes, and sights. The private deck was a perfect place to have our morning coffee and unwind after a day of exploring, and the beach at the bottom of the stairs was just so lovely. We even took a dip in the chilly water, super refreshing! And Tanis' baked goods for breakfast! Nothing like perfect warm scones right out of the oven. We will definitely be back!…
Tanis and Paul were very warm and welcoming. They provided detailed information about the property and their expectations, and were very accommodating about my husband's special diet - providing alternatives to the usual baked goods. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom large and well equipped. We had a restful and enjoyable four nights at skipping stone.
Tanis and Paul exceeded all our expectations. The Starfish Suite is super clean, comfortable and luxurious with every amenity, stunning views, private beach and Tanis provided fresh, warm, mouth-watering baking every other morning to go with our plentiful continental breakfast. Beautiful hiking, water sports, bistros, restaurants, concerts, art galleries, wineries/cideries, lakes and beaches are all close by. I can't wait to go back!
Thank you, Paul and Tanis, for adding to another memorable visit to Salt Spring. It is truly our favourite gulf island and your suite is not only beautiful and in a perfect location (it felt remote as there are no houses nearby, but is still only a 5 minute drive to Ganges and it’s on the water looking west towards Vancouver Island so has the most spectacular sunsets) but you both are the perfect hosts. On our first visit to you we stayed in the studio suite. This visit we stayed in the two bedroom suite. Both have separate entrances and are totally private from each other and is also private from you upstairs. Your welcome to us of a freshly baked loaf of bread is the perfect example of the thoughtful touches you do. We stayed for 3 nights and the suite was very comfortable and had everything we needed - it even had binoculars to get a close up view of the boats sailing by. Thank you for making it feel homey and comfortable. Enjoy the rest of your summer! Cheers - Deb and Brian…
Our extended family has stayed at Skipping Stone three times now. Great experiences every time. The hosts Tanis and Paul are attentive, but really respect the privacy of their guests. Rooms are clean and well appointed, including books and DVDs. Although the main attraction is the large deck and beach below.
This hidden gem of a B&B feels secluded, but is a quick drive to town. Great hike trailhead just a quick walk up the road and the most amazing beach with sunset views, swimmable water, and lots of sea creatures to see. Great for paddling of all sorts. The hosts are lovely and provide suggestions for exploring the island and dining. Rooms are quiet, beds comfortable, kitchenettes well-stocked, and baked goods every other day are excellent. This was our 2nd stay and we'd do it again. Thank you Tanis and Paul!
We had a perfect stay this week, 2 nights is not long enough. This property and location exceeded our expectations. Tanis and Paul made us feel right at home, and Tanis's homemade bread, yogurt, scones and muffins were delicious, we felt so spoilt! The private beach, sunsets, and spacious, comfortable suite made this stay wonderful, we slept so well. We will definitely come back, Skipping Stone is a must stay on Saltspring.
Tanis and Paul are wonderful hosts at this delightfully hidden B/B that is still close to the town. The property has short, quick access to a secluded beach with direct views of the sunset. It is also great for early mornings too. A friendly seal swims around the water occasionally popping its head above water to say hi (No kidding!). Tanis provides delicious baking every other morning. Scones and muffins that you wouldn't believe. The room nicely decorated, very comfortable and clean and features a small patio for coffee or or outdoor meals if you desire. A large warm bed faces the water. You may just want to stay in it for your whole trip.
With a great location, comfortable and clean living spaces, and friendly, helpful hosts, I definitely recommend Skipping Stone. We ate out on the lovely deck overlooking the ocean every night and were treated to some of the finest sunsets ever. The location is great--centrally located to explore the whole island, and a short drive to the hub, Ganges. And you have your own private beach! Though not sandy, the stones are a smooth and flat, are easy to walk on in bare feet.
