This resort definitely fits the old cliche of Diamond in the ruff, with emphasis on Diamond. Yes the resort is rustic, but in the best of ways. We were warmly greeted from a covid safe distance by Glen, a very friendly and informative proprietor. We did not really see anybody else, except from a great distance, during the remainder of our stay. First, we stayed in Cabin 2, which has a wonderful view of the lake and nothing else, except for the swing set (which would be a better location for a family then a middle age gay couple...so that would be perhaps a “do better” at booking time). Second, The cabin was supper clean and well organized. The kitchen had everything you need, though I did have to look for the coffee filters, so do not buy any, they are in drawer under the coffee maker. There is a special tap for drinking water, which implies a safe source which would not require you to bring any bottled water. I recommend you bring paper towel, this is not included. Third, the living room has a cute table for four (big enough for a 1000 piece puzzle), a couch that doubles as a pull out if required. And the best part is a wood burning fire place. This was truly a treat!! Wood is supplied along with kindling every day. Having a fire every afternoon and evening really created a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. Fourth, The bathroom was very clean, though the shower stall in ours was a little small for a large gentlemen like myself, but brought back memories of the small shower stalls in Italy. Plenty of towels present, and after six nights, did not need any fresh ones. Fifth, the bedroom is very large with a comfortable King size bed. Plenty of hangers and shelf space. This is the only location where there is a TV, which we did not use more than twice during our stay. Also, this is where the wifi router is. You will want to be aware of this in the event you do not think the Internet works or is slow. This happened to us, which after rebooting the router, worked perfectly fine. Finally, do take advantage of the canoes or paddle boards. The lake is actually larger than it looks and worth going on. Also, be sure to go to Ruckles provincial park and the Salt Spring Cheese Company. Highly recommend for a visit if you are looking to get away and be in the middle of the woods on a quiet lake with someone you love.

We had such a wonderful stay! Both for check-in and throughout our stay Covid protocols were observed, which felt safe and comfortable. It was cold and rainy out, but the fireplace kept us very cozy as we looked out the giant windows on the beautiful lake. The hot tub was also a highlight of our trip. We will be back!

As a Salt Spring Island local, Cusheon Lake Resort is my favourite spot for a staycation! I snuck away fir a three night solo writing retreat and the lakeside cabin was PERFECT. Everything is clean, and comfortable and Glen is super friendly, in that perfect, leaves you alone sort of way! 10 out of 10.
