I booked a last minute getaway for my husband and I for 2 nights in Tofino. Our daughter, son in-law and grand daughter were staying at another location during the same time. We were so surprised at what a perfect place we had chosen. The location was amazing. A 2 minute walk to Chesterman Beach. We could hear the sound of the waves from our cottage!! We could easily make our way back and forth from cottage to beach for any items forgot or for a quick break from taking in the incredible beach. The kitchen was perfectly equipped to accommodate our breakfast, lunch and dinner needs. There was more than enough dishes, glasses, equipment etc to accommodate our family for meals with us. Heavenly bed!!! So comfortable and so quiet with exception of the sound of the waves. The extra large old fashioned tub outside on a nice way to end the day, relaxing in a big bubble bath again with the sound of the waves. We will definitely book here again and highly recommend it to anyone that is wanting a cozy cottage with lots of privacy and so close to a beautiful beach.

We just spent 7 amazing days in Tofino and a large part of that was our accommodations. The Shipwreck cabin was perfect for what we needed. Well stocked kitchen, outdoor shower and bathtub!!! Comfy bed and very clean. It’s location allowed us many quick trips to Chesterman beach for morning coffee, surfing, happy hours, sunsets and star gazing. Sulo and Louise were great hosts and communication was fantastic - even made sure I was set up for a zoom meeting. Can’t wait to return to this idyllic place.

We've been to the shipwreck a couple of times and absolutely love the place. Perfect for surfing at Chesterman Beach, hearing the waves at night before bed and the place has everything you need to feel like at home. We love this place and the hosts are superb! Outside shower which is perfect especially if you surf and an outside bath tub, for bubble bath at any time of the day! Relaxing, comfortable and cozy.

I heard about the adorable "Shipwreck" cottage from a friend and I'm so glad for the tip! My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and loved everything about it. Cozy, comfortable, quite, private, location, funky, you name it....It was our first time in Tofino and we felt like we hit the jackpot in this sweet little spot. Just across the street from beautiful Chersterman Beach. All these reviews are saying the same thing: it's lovely here. Thank you Sulo and Louise!

Such a lovely place to spend Christmas. Warm, cozy and inviting. The shipwreck cabin is perfect for two. Everything you could need is provided. Fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, TV, wifi. Chesterman beach is a one minute walk. If it weren’t so cold we would have taken advantage of the outside tub.

we had such a wonderful time at the gold coast. we knew before we got in the door of the shipwreck we did not want to leave. sulo and louise are great hosts. the cottage was perfect and had everything we could have wanted. the ocean was just a stones throw away and we so enjoyed our walks on the beach as well as the sunsets. ten out of ten-we hope to go back in the not too distant future. we recommend this little bit of heaven on earth to anyone. can't say enough good about this place!!! john & sylvia o.

We stayed 4 nights at the Hacienda. The house was very private and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. The deck was awesome to relax on and of course the access to the beach was superb. We walked in the mornings and always as the sun was setting. This is a very peaceful site. We also cooked a great deal and loved the options to skip off to Tofino center, only a ten minute drive. Driving to the parks were also great and easy to manage. Sulo and Louise were always available to answer questions :)

If you are on a vacation to relax, enjoy the local beaches, perhaps do a little surfing, this home away from home is ideal. The Shipwreck (one of three cottages) is a charming cozy cottage with all the amenities. And I mean all. You do not have to bring a thing except your personal affects. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, cleaning supplies, condiments, spices, coffee, tea, coffee bean grinder, paper towels and much more. There is your own private laundry room with washer, dryer, laundry soap etc. A BBQ on the deck. You even have a fancy sound system hooked up to the satellite TV. There are books, magazines and DVDs. It is like you walked into someone’s house and stayed for awhile. All the cottage fixtures are updated with directional lighting, dimmer switches, new shower and toilet, fancy coffee maker, full size fridge, microwave. I really liked the antique chairs and the kitchen table. The table was made from an old wagon wheel with wood inlayed to provide a nice surface. Very cool.
Everything about this place spells relaxing from the warm, nicely decorated interior to the funky outdoor bathtub (they provide the bubble bath soap) and sauna. It is so comfortable and clean and it is only a 5 minute walk down a path to Chesterman beach.
You get all this for far less than most resorts in the area. It is also a very private yard, quiet with no neighbours walking by. If you are looking for a hotel with a bar or close to pubs so you can party, walk back to your room and party some more then this place is probably not for you. But if you are looking for a relaxing, private getaway, away from the busy resorts then I highly recommend giving this place a try. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

A wonderful cottage , cuter than the pictures! We arrived to find the cottage cozy and clean, with great music playing and so private. The location is perfect right across from the beach.
We can't wait to come back.

This was our second trip to Gold Coast Retreat and we had an amazing trip. This time we added a couple of extra nights so we could stay for a full week. Both times we've stayed in the Haidaway. The cabin has lots of space, the kitchen is perfect and we had a few home cooked seafood dinners... and the outdoor bathtub is a really treat!! The cabin is only a 30 second walk to Chesterman Beach. We're looking forward to our next trip!!!
