Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 14 day road-trip from Ireland and all I can say is that it was absolutely amazing. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and attentive. We stayed in room 313 which was on the top floor overlooking the beach with a balcony. Truth be told, the hotel was so good we didn’t venture far over the 3 days, instead opting to just “relax” at the hotel walking the beach or sitting outside at the gas fires taking in the ambience and the surfers catching the waves. The food and service in the restaurant was amazing, I would even go so far to say it was the best food we’ve had in a long time at a hotel! If having food at the hotel, make sure you book a table at the restaurant before 6pm and maybe even arrive a little early. They will not reserve the window seats, but to get the best view of the sunset over the pacific - trust me, it’s where you want to be sitting. Cocktails were also very good. If getting a snack during the day you can get it at the Surf Club which is a few steps from the main building. After dinner we just retired to the bedroom with the gas fires going, patio doors open and enjoying a bottle of wine while listening to the waves crash on the beach. We didn’t do breakfast at the hotel any of the mornings as we wanted something “light” opting instead for the delights from the cafe & bakery Tofitian just a few minutes up the road. As an “experience”, it was hands down one of the best hotels I’ve visited in Canada/US. The team should be very proud.

Thank you for your great review, it is greatly appreciated. I am really pleased that you enjoyed your visit. While we have a nice resort and location, our team is our greatest asset, they will be delighted with your mention. My father was born in Dublin and we have visited several times, we love Ireland! We stayed here a few years ago for a November storm watch with our dog. We had an “ocean view pet room“ and it was delightful. We could open our sliding glass door and go directly to the beach. This time we rented a cottage with our friend. They have a three night minimum stay. It is a bit expensive but could accommodate more than the three of us with 2 bedroom, two bathrooms, nicely setup kitchen and living room. A big surprise was our very own hot tub which was indeed lovely to have. The lodge has a very involved Covid cleaning process that they have thought through in detail. The occupants leave the windows open at departure and no one goes on for 3 hours to commence cleaning and sealing the rooms systematically. The Great Room dining room is a must for one evening meal but the menu is limited compared to our previous stay. We were prepared to do breakfasts in our room and some suppers. The beach is fabulous at any time of day! They have a cafe at the beach level but difficult to get into with the Covid limited seating scenario.

Thank you, I am really pleased that you enjoyed another visit, staying in a cottage. Covid19 has been very challenging and our very first priority is the health and safety of both our guests and staff. Our great room menus have been limited due to the pandemic, but are now being expanded for the fall and winter, when the SandBar bistro will close. Hopefully it won't be too long until everything will eventually return to near normal. We would love to welcome you back again in the future, keep in mind that the shoulder seasons are really the best time to visit! Best wishes, Tim Hackett Owner

My wife and I just returned from LBLR. It was our first time visiting the resort and our first time in Tofino in the winter months.
We had a non view room but looked out onto a beautiful forested green space. The room was larger than we expected and had two comfy arm chairs and a small fridge. It also had a large bathroom with a soaker tub and separate shower. The king size bed was above average and had a choice of pillows. Although I agree with others the view rooms are worth the splurge we were only steps away from the great room where we could sit and enjoy the view.
We found the staff very engaging and genuinely friendly. We had lots of little experiences where they went out of their way to help us.
We loved the great room. We were always able to get a table at the window or one of the sofas. We found their lounge menu was reasonably priced and I enjoyed my best seafood chowder ever and also loved their house cocktails.
The resort is on one of the nicest bays about a 10 minute drive from Tofino. The beach is great for watching surfers and finding sand dollars (take only pictures/leave only footprints). There is a great little hike at the north end of the beach along a board walk that ends up at a point. We enjoyed the hot tub which is back from the resort located at the surf club.
Everything about the resort exceeded our expectations.

We heard that the resort was opening back up after the pandemic shut down so wanted to take a trip out of Victoria to recharge. My husband works in healthcare and so is understandably quite burnt out. We also have a new baby on the way so wanted to have a nice familiy weekend away before baby 2 arrives.
We were made aware of the closures and the new rules in effect by numerous emails and phone calls so we felt that we were prepared to have a quite, relaxing weekend.
Unfortunately we left feeling excited to go home instead of sad to leave this wonderful place.
The staff were excellent and the location is great - especially if you have a dog like we do.
However, with no housekeeping service, I felt that I spent most of my time trying to clean up and keep the small space tidy. With a toddler and a dog, the place was full of sand at all times. Luckily I was able to get a broom from housekeeping so I was able to clean up throughout the day but it just didn't feel like it was a good enough job. It would have been great to have housekeeping coming in once a day while we were out to do a thorough clean and straighten things out...after all, that is one of the nicer perks of staying in a resort! Having garbage removed would also have been nice. The reason for this is apparently because they can't enter the room until 3 hours after we leave but when we checked out, they were in there cleaning our room within the hour. Also given the correct PPE, it shouldn't be an issue.
The lack of laundry service was also frustrating. We overpacked and still ran out of clothes for ourselves and our daughter. I ended up doing laundry in the bathtub using the body wash that was provided. Unfortunately because it is so wet in Tofino, the clothes never dried so we ended up coming home with a bag of soggy clothes.
The only restaurant open is the outdoor sand bar. It is a stunning location and luckily for us the weather was nice so we were able to sit outside but if the weather didn't cooperate I'm not sure what we would have done. We did choose to eat inside a few of the nights because it was quite windy and cold but there was no table in our room to eat on so we had to all sit in the bed to eat our dinner. Which at this point was full of sand and food. If the restaurants are going to remain closed, I'd strongly suggest adding some sort of table to the rooms so people can eat inside.
At the end, we really felt we had significantly overpaid for a mediocre trip.

As you state, we had emailed and called you on May 28/29 to review everything about your visit. We outlined the government protocols in place, regulations for the health and safety for both our guests and staff. You were informed what services were in place and what were not, including the lack of stay over service. We go to this effort so guests know precisely what to expect when they arrive. I am not sure what part of the information provided you did not understand. The three hour rule regarding entering a suite after a guest departs was amended to only include hotels with central air conditioning. Our overall experience since reopening, has been that guests have been pleased to be able to visit and very appreciative all the current protocols to keep them safe. What is not seen by the guests is the huge amount of extra deep cleaning and disinfecting that occurs before guests arrive and the constant disinfecting of all the common areas. I am really sorry that you didn't enjoy your visit and experience to the fullest, I hope you will visit again in the future when we will be delighted to empty your garbage can. Tim H

A week away at this property is exactly what we needed to recharge our batteries. It has a prime beach front location on Cox Bay in Tofino. Great for surfing or long walks on the sandy beach. This was our first stay at this property and our expectations were exceeded on all counts. We stayed in the lodge with beach view room that was well appointed with amenities. Very comfortable bed, large walk in shower and separate soaker tub. They staff were all very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping actually called us daily to see if we needed anything to be delivered to our room. Our favorite activity was sitting on the beach front patio with one of the fire pits just watching the surf. Food options were good between the dining room and the patio bar. Tofino townsite is only a 5 min drive down the road with more options. This location is great for couples, families and is also extremely dog friendly, the pet friendly rooms are easily identifiable when booking. One thing we were surprised by is there no air conditioning in the rooms and we did arrive on one of the warmest days of the year but with the patio door open we had a good breeze and our room cooled off pretty quickly. There are also no sheers on the widows so privacy in the rooms with the drapes open is non existent. That being said we will be returning to Tofino again in the fall and will definitely be staying at this property again.

Thank you for taking the time to review our resort, it is greatly appreciated. I am delighted that you had an enjoyable visit and that we were able to exceed your expectations! While we have a great location, I consider our friendly and helpful staff to be our biggest asset. When the lodge was built, twenty years ago, we did not experience the extreme heat that we did this week, record-high temperatures were set, the highest temperatures recorded in over 100 years of record keeping. If we are to experience these sorts of temperatures in the future, due to global warming, air conditioning will definitely need to be installed, unfortunately, our climate is changing much faster than expected. We will be pleased to welcome you back again. Best wishes and happy Canada Day! Tim Hackett Owner Tim Hackett Owner

I've lived in Tofino for 15 years and this is the first time I have treated myself to a night in one of the local hotels! All staff were very genuine, friendly and helpful. The Beachfront Duluxe room was spotless and cozy with high quality snacks, tea/coffee, toiletries and local reading material to enjoy. The location of the room meant we could walk straight out on to the beach to enjoy the surf and then come back to the robes and large soaker tub and warm up. Thank you LBL for a great experience.

My friend and I were only there for one night but I wish it could have been more! We decided to check in earlier and were pleasantly surprised to find out our room was already ready for us. Front desk reception made sure we had everything we needed, and knew where all their amenities were located; this was especially helpful as we enjoyed the hot pool and sauna all to ourselves later that night.
The location of the lodge is right on Cox Bay, which makes for both great beach walks, and supreme people/surfer watching from their Great Room while you eat breakfast. We had such a good time!

We recently stayed in an ocean view room for three nights. A big shout out to Emma on the front desk who checked us in with a lovely welcome gift (my birthday) and went above and beyond for us. Our room was spotless and very quiet and comfortable. Great bed, thick robes and good coffee and tea amenities. A lovely small fireplace area to sit and enjoy watching the surfers and sunset. We ate in the Great Room one night for dinner and for three breakfasts and were very disappointed in the quality and temperature of the food. The kitchen does not match the quality of the rest of the resort in our opinion. Having said that, we would absolutely return to the resort. The location on Cox Bay Beach is great and the beach is big and easily walkable. The resort had very good Covid protocols in place and we had no concerns in that regard.

Steps from the beach with an amazing view from the Delux Beachfront room, which was extremely comfortable and cozy with the fireplace and large King bed. The dining experience in the Great Room was wonderful, and even when they had power out, they managed to produce excellent food with limited equipment. Housekeeping called on the phone daily to see if we needed anything, and responded within minutes when we did. Overall a top-notch resort with friendly staff in one of the most incredible locations in Canada.

What a great stay overall, probably close to perfect.
The Great Room felt like an art gallery, whoever designed the space really put thought into creating a unique, culturally respectful and reflective of the incredible First Nations peoples who have been living here for over 15,000 years. We should keep that in mind and respect the land, and I feel the locals do and are.
Overall the resort is perfect for those who want a Canadian beach holiday, no it's not warm BUT who needs warm when you have breathtaking vistas and such natural surroundings.
I almost missed my typical rum punch but I highly recommend their "Raven's Mask"
Our cottage was cozy and clean and the hottub was a nice touch, staying in the forest in a charming cottage is my idea of camping. The staff were always there to help us out and I didn't feel like there was a pandemic going on. I felt very safe dining in the Great Room since it is actually great and large and roomy and the staff are very trained and just really friendly but with that touch of class to make this place feel worldclass, which it is. For some reason we had sun all week which was an added bonus and saw two weddings on the beach, and that just might give me an idea for my wedding, in the near future. This resort is unique and is the perfect base to explore such awe inspiring surroundings, I look forward to coming back in the near future, as I'm adding this on my "must repeat" list.

Thank you for taking the time to comment, it is greatly appreciated. It is really remarkable how long the First Nations have called the area home. All our native work was produced by very talented local artists. We purchased the magnificent Ravin's Mask and actually built the great room around it. I love your idea of camping, a cottage is my style too, although when I first visited Long Beach in the 1960's I did camp on the beach, in a small pup tent! The two wedding couples were so fortunate last week to have sun both days, as we had heavy rain on the day before and the day following. We would love to welcome you back again. You can only fly from yvr to tofino. LAX to YVR.
KD Air and Pacific Coastal fly from YVR SOUTH. To Tofino.
There is a shuttle from main terminal to south terminal at YVR. you will need transportation from tofino to your accomodation as tofino is a very small airport. Budget may operate rental cars but do not have very many there and taxis are few and far between.
Yes the Penthouse can accommodate two adults and two children. It has a king bed and a pull out sofa bed. The cottages do not have a view but they do have two bedrooms two bathrooms, full living room, kitchen and a hot tub on the back patio.
