Tofino is amazing and Mackenzie beach is one of the best for families. The Ocean Village cabins are fun and have everything you need right off the beach. Unfortunately, what is not so great is the resort's customer service. This was our second time staying here, and we were disappointed to see that all of the boardgames, books, sports balls etc they used to have on hand were removed, and all of the pool toys (noodles etc) are also gone - apparently due to COVID, although its unclear why they haven't replaced them now. Further more, when we booked our stay their website advertised a 15% storm watching discount, when we checked in we asked if we were getting that discount and the front desk ensured us that we would and it would be applied on checkout. When we checked out, the discount was not applied. When we inquired why, the resort manager was argumentative and blamed us for misunderstanding the information. When a business advertises a sale and you walk up to the counter to pay and the clerk tells you its on sale, and then charges your credit card at full price, thats a problem with the business not the customer. I have never been in such a situation where the business did not honour the sale, until Ocean Village. In a town where there are many excellent beach side resorts to choose from, customer service should be high on the list, and you will not find it at Ocean Village sorry to say. There are literally three other very nice resorts and a large campsite on Mackenzie beach alone. Too bad, we really want to love this place :(…
Tofino is a beautiful place and I couldn't ask for more than to be in a cabin with a gorgeous view of the sea. The cabins are cozy, comfortable, clean and decently sized. There are lots of things to do for kids as you can borrow plenty supplies like balls and games. Also a great place to go surfing. The beach sand is fine and stays shallow really far out into the water. This is also an amazing place for dogs and I am pretty sure the majority of people staying here had at least one dog with them... there is dogs everywhere. So, if you like dogs, this is a great place to be. If you're not into swimming in the ocean however, there is also an indoor pool. The pool and pool room is very well maintained and the pool is pretty big. It is usually not busy though. You can also have adventures on the small island which is about 40 feet from the beach at high tide but at low tide, it connects via sandbar. So, if you can get over the prices, this is a five-star stay.…
We enjoyed staying at the Ocean Village resort about 30 years ago with our kids. For whatever reasons this was our first visit since then - although both our children have returned more than once with family and friends. We were a group of four families and took over Units 3, 4, 5 and 6 for three nights. Once again Ocean Village did not disappoint. The units were clean and very well equipped. We found the bottom units were spacious enough for all eight of us to comfortably gather, socialize and dine potluck. The spectacular beach was just steps away from our doors. Available upon request were tools for cooking and devouring the freshly caught crabs purchased in town. Two enormous BBQ's were available for guest use. No TV's but that was a bonus. Good wifi. Remote checkin and checkout worked like a charm. And finally, we certainly appreciated the management arranging the most un November like weather you could imagine. Blue skies without a hint of rain or wind made all our cold, wet weather prep quite unnecessary. We plan on returning much sooner than 30 years from now, this time!…
We had an absolutely fabulous weekend with our dog on the beach here. It was so easy to have her there. The view was amazing, walking the beach was amazing. Being so close to Tofino and the restaurants in walking distance were awesome. We also made good use of our perfict little kitchen. Thank you Ocean Village Beach
Great value in Tofino. We stayed here in October 2022. Accommodation were clean. We enjoyed the ocean view and the sunset. I prefer to stay in accommodations which are sufficient and not over the top. Ocean Village is perfect. Comfortable bed. Good location.
My husband and I stayed at OV for 2 nights, July 2022. The cabin was wonderful. meticulously clean with modern finishings. The bed was comfortable and quiet to sleep. There is no AC or TV in the cabin. The Wi-Fi was strong and we were able to watch Netflix easily on our devices. We had unit 45 which is direct oceanfront. It was a great view and honestly with the ocean out in front of you, who needs TV! We walked the beach, watched all the families (and dogs/pet friendly) play in the water. Tofino gets quite cool after sunset so we had no trouble sleeping without AC. Tofino is a cool little beach town with some great restaurants, hikes, water activities. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at OV and Tofino!
We had a great time here. The staff were super nice and the cabins were super cozy. It's right on the beach too, and super close to the town. Definitely worth staying here! Between being closer to the beach and the town it is a great spot to stay at! There is also a pool and hot tub which is great. We will be back again.
I can't believe that this place still has a 5pm check in time. The road is open more often now to go through. And it's not like there is any staff shortage, with jobs everywhere. And Covid is no longer an excuse but it seems to work for them. Masks are now optional and the majority of folks are vaccinated.
We have been coming here for decades. There is nowhere better to stay in Tofino. Very relaxed atmosphere and beautiful in rain or shine. There is a nearby expensive grocery if you forgot anything but mostly staying in the cabins playing games and reading is the mellow approach. There were some brave souls swimming and surfing but we were content with leisurely walks and family time
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. We were in an upper studio suite. Although small, it was very cozy. The kitchenette was tiny, but useful. The fridge was a mini bar fridge so we bought ice and kept some things in our cooler. The kitchen has pots, pans, bowls, plates, forks, knives (larger for chopping) cutting board, cheese grater, spatula, flipper, scissors, french press, kettle, mugs. All the basics , but we also brought some of our own utensils and pots and pans. The bathroom fan was LOUD, and automatically turned on with the light,so that was unfortunate. The shower has bodywash, shampoo and conditioner on the wall. There is no closet. There were a few hooks to hang your jacket on, and a small area next to the bed with hangers. The bed was built high and the frame doubled as drawers. The couch being a pullout bed, ment that it squeaked rather loudly (just to sit on). Overall, it was a great experience. Ocean views from our deck. Hearing the rain on the roof (so soothing) Being on the beach made it so easy to want to go for walks, especially at sunset. 10/10 would recommend …
