My partner and I stayed here for two nights while on business. It is in an impoverished area of town, but that wasn't a bother for either of us. They lock the front entrance at night and buzz you in when you wave your room key. The room was small, but comfortable and clean! It was very quiet until the...

This is a hotel that has been revamped and has managed to maintain its original flavour. Bathrooms have been added to the rooms for convenience but has somewhat destroyed the atmosphere of the already smaller rooms. The views facing east have water and mountain views and look onto even older heritage buildings. with the tall buildings of Metrotown in the...

This is a 100 year old hotel still doing good budget business. The wooden floors creak and rooms could be larger but it comes with breakfast ( very acceptable) and is on the direct busline into the city, taking about15/20 minutes. The hotel address is East Hastings Street and this happens to be Vancouver's main homeless person street. There are hundreds of...

Dear Ron M, We're pleased that you were impressed by our staff during your stay and are happy that you'll be staying with us again! We understand your comment about the bathroom size as some of our rooms are very small given the era of the building (est 1913). Next time you're in, might we suggest giving one of our...

We flew from UK on our way to Lund so just wanted a place to sleep comfortably, with nearby eats, without paying through the nose. This was just right. The concierge was very pleasant and helpful when we arrived (5th September) and recommended places to eat, which we found and enjoyed (Pho Central on Davie Street). The rooms was quiet,...

This is a budget hotel at prices that you struggle to find anywhere else in Vancouver. On top of that for CAD10 you can park your car which is a a bonus. The area is not desirable at all although it is NOT dangerous. There are just a LOT of homeless people in the streets but they are not dangerous...

This hotel is very old and because of that has a few problems. The lift worked most of the time, as long as you knew to push both up and down buttons. The floors were at an angle, so you felt seasick. Our room was tiny, the bed was against the wall and the most uncomfortable bed that I have...

Everything was very clean and neat and the staff were great, but the location (so close to the dregs of Vancouver) is not the greatest. Had a good peaceful sleep on the fourth floor. For a building that is 103 years old, it was nice. The pub was quite friendly and welcoming and the food that I had there was...

I had to run water well going to the washroom because it is uncomfortable lol. The pub was good we met some...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
