Cliches often defeat prose when writing reviews. It's easy to lapse into the ever available, "and the people were so nice," rather than discerning what precisely fuelled that "nice-ness." So let this be a cliche free zone, and the extraordinary folks at the Moda Hotel deserve this consideration. A fierce winter storm delayed my arrival by a day; it also...

We were taking in the Celtic Festival so this location was great. We parked the car (in their lot across the street, at a reasonable rate) and walked everywhere. Our 2 night stay was great. Really enjoyed the character of this restored building. It IS downtown, so as we were forewarned, we heard traffic and sirens. Welcome to the big...

The Moda Hotel is a great place to stay when in Vancouver. The hotel holds onto its original charm while providing the modern essentials in the rooms. Although the room I stayed in (Deluxe Queen) was well appointed, it did feel small on first impressions but it did the job at hand, because there is plenty to do around the...

We stayed at Moda because it was within a respectable walking distance of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre where we were attending a seminar. It's a character building, only three stories tall. What it lacks in stature it makes up for in charm. The rooms are well appointed (we had a Superior Double). Even though our room faced out onto Seymour,...

Location is excellent. They have certainly mastered the boutique feel at a competitive price. Good wifi, biz centre. Eclectic restaurants downstairs-really a cool place. Self park is only $14, which is reasonable for this part of town. I LOVED the free unlimited calls to N America: every hotel should do this. As an American who frequents Canada on biz, it...

We are saving for a big trip this summer but had to go to Vancouver for a weekend visit with family. We wanted to be near Yaletown and wanted to stay on budget. We decided to try Moda and were happy we did. They describe themselves as "boutique-inspired" which is very apt. Not quite boutique as the finishes are not...

Looks old from the outside, but the interior and rooms have been done up. The main problem was that it was really noisy; from one side of the room the traffic noise was bad, and from the other side you could loudly hear people going up and down the corridor. The squeaky wooden floors in the corridor didn't help. Also...

I've stayed at the Moda at least five times now and it's always been because of the location and price. You can't get a better location if you are planning to take public transportation or are going to concerts downtown and the price is cheaper than most private shared-bathroom rooms at the local hostels. I did have one slightly bad...

We stayed here in Febuary for a week, the room was adequate size (however a bit too small for two girls travelling together!!) there were only two poswer outlets in the room though which made charging phones etc. a bit trickey but there were annother two in the bathroom. The maid was lovely and the room was nice and clean....

Staying in Granville Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Granville Street
Granville Street spans many, multiple city blocks and has become so fastidiously known for its nightclubs and watering holes that it's fondly nicknamed the city's 'Entertainment District.' Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular and lively, with young revelers taking to the streets in droves and keeping the party going until late. Granville Street, being mostly open to pedestrian-only traffic, has a healthy social life along its main thoroughfares, even outside of its cafes and pubs, spilling onto the sidewalks. The locals are chatty, the shops at its expansive Pacific Centre Mall are trendy, and the whole area seems to be on a sugar rush: in a good way. Exuberance and camaraderie classify this neighbourhood.
