Just finished 3 day stay here at the Sylvia Hotel. We could not have enjoyed it more. Room was clean and spacious, bathroom not the largest but adequate for us. Great location on English Bay Beach. Desk staff is attentive and helpful. The hotel restaurant...More
Over the past 16 years of regular visits to this hotel the words "comfort, consistency and convenience" apply just as strongly as they did in 2001, and whilst the old-style elegance and charm of this old lady are still obviously patent there are ongoing noticeable...More

Someone might think that some working at the hotel wrote the review. Thank-you for all your kind words and the mention of some of the benefits of staying with us. Mentioning the service offered by the staff and the hard work they do does not...More
Based on previous reviews and images from Google Earth, I booked two nights at the Sylvia Hotel at the end of our Alaska Land/Sea Cruise. When I read the Word, “historic”, I envisioned outdated rooms, a creaky elevator and a small dining area. Was I...More
The location is excellent across the street from English Bay with some decent bars and restaurant’s close by with buses to downtown outside although we walked it in around 40mins.
Reception was friendly and helpful, we had a standard queen room on the 8th floor...More
Hotel very old but has been well maintained. Rooms were small but they were very comfortable. The Restaurant has good food but a little high and you have to convert it to American dollars. It is a good idea to use a credit card with...More

A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along
with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
