Three other couples and ourselves just returned from 4 nights in Vancouver where we stayed at the Sylvia Hotel. We recommended this hotel to our friends as we had so enjoyed it on previous visits. The location is right on the waterfront of English Bay and it provides such great people watching, walking paths and a view of the water...

I was so happy to read that your entire group enjoyed their stay and that you took full advantage of our location. We are close to everything and there are a number of great restaurants with in walking distance. One of my favorite things to do is people watch from the restaurant or lounge or the patio on a nice...

This was my second stay at the beautiful, antique Sylvia Hotel on English Bay in Vancouver, BC. You cannot beat the location to walk to Granville Island, and Stanley Park. Lots of dining locations in between and the hotel itself does very nice breakfast! Would always recommend! Thank you for a great stay.

An excellent hotel on the edge of English Bay. Hotel staff was fantastic, rooms are large but older. No issues, everything in great working order. MUST NOTE: no air conditioning in rooms. Didn't need the air conditioning. With a brick building that has ivy on the outside, room stayed comfortable Excellent food in restaurant and good prices Will definitely stay...

Thank-you for a great header "beautiful stay at the Sylvia", Nice short review that mentions the excellent food and value. Plus the location is often mentioned because we are so close to everything. You are correct, we do not have air-conditioners but all the windows open wide to help keep the room cool, most guest are happy that they can...

Great Location. Great views. Great food. This is a classic hotel of the Vancouver of a hundred years ago (but with WiFi internet, flat screen TV's and a modern menu). The room was better then what we had requested and was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful. With big windows and right across the street from the park and...

It was about 10.00 in the evening and we were sitting in our room congratulating ourselves on choosing the Sylvia Hotel. Check in had been charming and, although the building has a musty smell and is generally rather battered, it is clean and well decorated. Our room was large, about 360 sq. ft.and very well appointed with good bedside reading...

Thank-you for staying with us. I am sorry you had a mouse in your room, I was happy to read that my staff moved you to another room, you are correct a mouse sighting is not a regular occurrence, we recently did some trimming of the vines and I we feel we disturbed some of the wildlife maybe living in...

We have been coming to this hotel for over twenty years and have always enjoyed our stays here. Many of the rooms are not fully updated but that is part of the charm. The location is right on English Bay which is the place to be in Vancouver, but is still an easy walk to the downtown shopping area and...

Thank-you for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. I agree with you the Sylvia Hotel is "one of a kind" being 104 year old and a heritage site since 1975 we are unique. The location is one of the reasons guests stay with us but I feel the service is what keeps guests coming back....

Stayed five nights with our large family. We loved the big, top-floor corner room with huge windows that open and let in fresh air and a wonderful breeze. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Beautiful old hotel right next to the beach.

It sites in front of the English Bay and just off from Denman street and Davie street, such a perfect location. I am not quite sure if it is a standard around this area that the room does not have air conditioning and refrigerator though, the room was spacious enough with high ceiling. All staff were very friendly and helpful....

My boyfriend and I stayed here in November 2014 for 3 days. The staff were extremely helpful, we had to print and scan heaps of form for a new job. Loved this hotel. The outstanding, friendly staff was awesome. My husband and I visited Vancouver to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
