My wife and I found this hotel or Bring Fido and such a great find! Really nice older hotel next to English Bay. We always have a hard time finding hotels to bring our 3 dogs but this pace had restrictions or fees and put us in a room away from other guests so the barking wouldn't be an issue....

Welcome from the USA, yes we are a pet friendly hotel and have been since 1960. I believe that we are the only hotel in Vancouver that does not charge extra for pets as most hotels do charge $25-40 per night per pet. Thank-you for staying with us and yes please bring your dogs on your next trip, we will...

The Sylvia Hotel was built in 1912, so it's been around a long time, with many renovations through the years. It as our second visit, the last one being 35 years ago--it is an old favourite for many people returning to Vancouver for a holiday. While it is a bit tired in its appearance, it is very clean and comfortable...

Welcome back after so many years. Thank-you for taking the time to write a review and comment on the level of service and friendliness of my crew. They do work hard to exceed every guests expectation and based on the feed back on so many reviews they are doing a lot of very good things. The hotel is 104 years...

Thank-you for staying with us for 5 days. It looks like you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the clean rooms and good service you received. I will post your comments in the lunch room to remind the staff how important their jobs are and how much our guests notice the hard work they do. When you come back to Vancouver...

Sweet older hotel, a little dated, but totally fine. Staff was helpful and polite. The location can't be beat! We walked out in the morning, crossed the street, and took the most lovely walk along the water and into the park - it was perfect!

We are 103 years old and we work hard to stay true to our heritage. I always like to read a comment like "it was perfect" cannot get much better than that. I hope you will return again soon however you better book early as summer is almost sold out already for most dates. Please call us directly for the...

We just came back from a week long stay at the Sylvia Hotel. We had 2 bayside rooms that had beautiful views of English Bay. The rooms were comfortable with Windows that opened So you could hear the seabirds and waves below. It is a great location with easy access to many restaurants, GranilleIsland and Stanley Park. Thank-you for staying with us and taking time to write a review. I appreciate when reviews mention the service offered by my staff, they all work so hard to exceed guests expectations. The Sylvia is a Vancouver landmark situated next to Stanley Park, overlooking English Bay. It is an older tourist hotel, and the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. This is not a hotel for travellers wanting a Hilton or Four Seasons Hotel experience. I didn't see any "business types" traveling on expense accounts here. The lounge/bar has a very popular...

My wife, dog & I recently spent three days & nights (March 23-26) at this charming old heritage hotel and it was everything we hoped it would be. Facing a challenging weekend looking for an apartment, we needed somewhere quiet, friendly and easy to get to in Vancouver. We found it at the Sylvia. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
