I spent a night at the Tropicana on a business trip in mid-September. The location is terrific, and I had an enjoyable stay. Asna was at the front desk the evening I arrived and was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, well situated and reasonably priced place to stay in downtown Vancouver. It's an older property, for sure, but it definitely worked great for me. And there are excellent views to boot.

Asna on the front desk was friendly and an asset to the hotel. Thanks for letting us leave our luggage with you when we checked out. Spacious rooms in an excellent location. We were on the 12th floor and enjoyed looking out across the city. A good price.

My room was a 1 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, not just a hotel room. Very good value for the price, especially considering how very expensive Vancouver is. Asna provided a great check in and check out experience and was very helpful.

I loved the location of this hotel. We parked our van and walked everywhere! The suite was spacious and very clean. Although the furniture and appliances were dated, everything worked well and was very clean. A hidden gem in the middle of downtown. Asna and our house keeper merit special attention for their impeccable service.

Hard to believe that people actually stay here. Carpets were so filthy I didn't want to walk on them and forget sitting on the couch. Opened the sliding door onto balcony then couldn't shut it. Holes in walls, unknown stains everywhere. Disgusting place. The only redeeming feature was the location but honestly I'm struggling to think of anything else in its favour.

I had advised the hotel that I would arrive late when I made my reservation a month or more before my arrival. They sent an reply that they would be ready. They also replied quickly to my other questions before my arrival. When I arrived at 1:30 AM the gentleman at the desk was read for me. He processed me quickly, told me some information of the area in case I wanted to go get something to eat, gave me the WIFI credentials. I was on my way to the room on the 9th floor in a couple minutes. He was polite and very efficient! As others have mentioned, the hotel is older and shows signs of wear and tear from years of service. Maybe I am more practical than most guests but I do not trouble myself about such things. The elevator worked, they have two in the hotel. My room was easy to locate and access. It was basically an apartment, with a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and full bathroom. More space than I needed but very nice. Everything I used was functional and clean. The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of hot water for a shower. One of the amazing things were the views from the living room. It had floor to ceiling windows on two walls. There was a view of the bay. I watched ships pass and sea planes landing. I also had a goose fly by my window, so cool to see. I didn't get the name of the guy that checked me in but I did of the lady that checked me out. Asna was very nice and helpful. I think I got an excellent value for the money at the Tropicana Suite Hotel and would happily stay there again in the future.

Stayed here for a week in December while working downtown. It was a mistake. Place is very run down and poorly maintained. Rooms were not clean at all, I complained to the front desk and to their credit they sent up housekeeping that day, but when I first checked in (I booked a Kitchen suite so I could cooks some meals) One of the top cupboards ion the Kitchen had pigeon feathers in it. Lets just say I did not cooking for the 5 days I was there!

I was in Vancouver for essential business. The hotel seemed excellent on the website, kitchen, sitting area, dining table with chairs, sofa-bed, free parking etc etc. Just beware. It is an extremely old unkept and dirty property. The bedsheets had holes, the countertop was soiled and broken. The tea coffee making facilities included a coffee maker and sugar, no coffee, no filters to use and very few utensils. No air conditioning but fortunately, the weather was pleasant so had to crack the windows open to be able to sleep. The cherry on the top was the rude and ill mannered night clerk who checked us in. Unbelievable that someone so rude and with a frankly racist attitude could be hired in Vancouver, a city made of ethnically diverse population! And in COVID times, the guy was not even wearing a mask while checking us in while I had my double mask and shield on. He also refused to give us a scond set of keys. Never again wil I rent this property and I warn others too. Keep away!

Well, if you can get past the very old stand carpet, slow dirty elevators this place is the perfect location, great price and has everything you need. I found our suite clean, it is very dated. The fridge was full size, mircrowave so worked well for us to keep some munchie food and make sandwiches. Pool is closed.
