Stayed overnight in this hotel, otherwise we would have moved! Lift is incredibly small & slow, we were on the 9th floor. Room was not clean, cigarette burns & stains all over the carpet, unpleasant smell throughout the room, all of the kitchen was in a state of disrepair, cupboard doors would not close, bench top chipped & scratched but...

The location is what sells the Tropicana Hotel, close to everything right on Robson Street. The hotel is older with single pane windows. The hallways and elevator carpets are very dirty and old. The room we had was clean and was on one of the upper floors. The view was very nice. I think this hotel was built as an...

This was exactly what we needed. Robson street right downtown. Great access to bus/sky train, restaurants, water. Everything. Hotel was hot with no ac or screens on the windows (which we knew going in so it wasn't a surprise ). It does smell a bit when its warm. Kind of musty/old. We were in 1201. Room clean. Bed and pullout...

Several reviews make out the Tropicana to be the worst place in the world. It is not. It also is not the best. I consider the price I pay for accommodations vs the quality of the stay in all of my reviews. If I buy a Chevy and get a Chevy, I am happy. If I buy a Cadillac and...

I would like to say that the staff are good and the room was clean. However this hotel is very old an in need of updates. The windows might as well have been open all night and we heard every noise outside including people talking. We were on the 12th floor. I am sorry but I DO NOT recommend this...

Booked an overnight room on-line in April 2014 for mid-August 2014 and received email confirmation, but on check-in, hotel indicated they had no rooms and they were "expecting" us to check-in the following day. As this was peak tourist season, and they blew off my reservation, all they had was a room that needed substantial maintenance, including no refrigerator or...

I stayed here to see Tom Petty with a friend from out of town. Our options for hotels were extremely limited and in the 25-30 times I've been over to Vancouver, I've never seen the city this booked up. Unfortunately my friend locked into the Tropicana Suite Hotel. This is not a hotel, it's an old apartment that hasn't been...

I came to Vancouver with my family and we decided to stay at Tropicana given the price and location. We were aware that it would be a budget hotel so we tried to keep our expectations low. Positives: 1. Location: Perfect location, you are right on Robson Street for shopping and a short beautiful walk from Stanley Park and English...

Staying in Robson Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Robson Street
Robson Street is a shopper's paradise. Whether a window shopper or a serious trendsetter, a fashionista or a dabbler, the crowd of independent boutiques, quirky one-off shops, and well-known luxury brands on Robson Street have something to cater for every itch in your wallet. As a result, it draws a diverse crowd, and the people-watching along this famous walking thoroughfare is a primary attraction. In between the clothing shops both high-street and budget-friendly are a number of cafes to lay down your load, as well as numerous specialty stores ranging in their wares from music, to art, to city souvenirs. Known as "Vancouver's Runway," if a new trend is on the rise, you'd spot it here first.
