The Victorian Hotel is a little gem in Vancouver. Tucked away on a quiet street just a few minutes from major shopping, entertainment, restaurants and galleries, this hotel is outstanding! The hotel is housed in a very old building but all rooms have been very tastefully updated with wood floors, flat screen TVs, very comfortable beds and sleek bathrooms. Comfortable...

We really enjoyed our one night stay here. Our corner room was huge, clean, bright and comfortable. They bring in a wonderful assortment of breads and goodies from a Parisian bakery for breakfast--so hard to choose what to try! Everyone we encountered was friendly. It is such a well maintained historic building...easy walking distance to all the entertainment facilities (like...

This hotel was a good value in a decent location in downtown Vancouver close to Harbour Centre and Gastown. The staff were pleasant, the room (king bed) was clean and comfortable, and the antique furnishings gave the hotel a unique look and feel. There was a continental breakfast that included coffee, tea, fruit salad, and some lovely bakery breads and...

Poor communication between shifts this hotel looks nice small cozy rooms, multiple shared bathroom, clean. reserved parking is weak. only a few spots behind a gated off lot. was able to reserve a spot. there are no clickers or fewer than needed, so you'd have to run inside to ask the receptionist to open the gate for you. we told...

Dear Linda, I am so terribly sorry for your brush with the renovations and the parking. Even the best laid plans can be foiled by poor communication and it sounds like you encountered some. Again, my sincere apologies to you.

My partner and I spent a night at this fine hotel recently and were so pleased with our room. High ceilings and ample room give a feeling of spaciousness you do not often get in a non luxury room. Prices were fairly steep, but we booked here due to location and proximity to Canada Place. Staff were excellant, and changed...

Spent 2 nights at the Victorian Hotel. Initially booked because of cost and location. It turned out to be a great place to stay. Very close to the downtown area and the sports facilities.10 minutes to BC Place. Breakfast was a very good continental breakfast. Nice choice. Front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but we...

Great location, good presentation. Friendly service. An historic building that has been well updated. Only a few rooms have ensuite but there are plenty of share facilities. Also no lift if your room is upstairs but there is someone who can help with your bags. I'd stay again.

Thank you for your review Gael. I should point out that more than half of our rooms have full-sized en-suites and contemporary features. You should absolutely try one next time. See you then.

The hardwood floors may look good, but there seems to be no midfloor sound insulation, so every creaky floor board, and there are lots of them, footstep, dropped item or other nocturnal activities above are clearly audible. Combine this with the foot traffic outside your door from those using the shared bathroom, and the (unadjustable?) over heated rooms, and you'll...

Insomniacs and those with hearing issues. I'm so sorry for your restless sleep Don. Boy, it sure sounds like you encountered an inordinate amount of traffic. As for the heat, there is a basic dial on the radiators for the Euro-rooms but you would have had to ask about that. Again, my apologies to you sir for the disturbances.

If you want something different than the conventional hotel routine, this is your place. Warm and cozy decor with hardwood floors and Victorian atmosphere give the place character and interest. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We paid extra for a private bath, which was very roomy. The hotel is right by Gastown so we were an easy walk...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
