This is my second time staying at YWCA, the first time on my own in 2017 and this time around, with my sister. As we wanted to keep costs down, we shared a double bed and had a room with a shared bathroom, which was never an issue. Despite the YWCA undergoing renovations, these were never an issue during our stay.

If I/we should ever return to Vancouver, I/we definitely would not hesitate in staying here again. The location was perfect and within walking distance to most of the main attractions. We were often out at night and never did we feel unsafe.

YWCA were also happy to store out bags (for a fee) prior to checking in (two days later), as we went to Whistler first for a couple of days prior to returning to Vancouver.

My husband and I stayed at the YWCA for a stopover night in Vancouver before catching an early morning flight from the airport in the morning. It's a great deal and so centrally located, with an abundance of nearby restaurants and taxis ready and waiting just outside the front door. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful ... and proceeds of the rental fee go towards helping low income single moms and families, so we even get to feel we've contributed at least a little towards the community. The room is small, but totally sufficient for a one-night stay.

I enjoy staying at the upper levels where I hear less noise from the street and feel safer. You barely hear the construction and they will be finished August 2020. You can’t beat the price and staff are really nice and accommodating. Would be really nice if their hotel had a pool but I don’t think they have the room for that. The hotel has lemon flavoured water by the lobby elevator. Each room has an ice bucket but I have no idea where the ice machine is. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. Each room has a fridge and it’s cheaper to stay in a room with the bathroom and shower in the hallway. The kitchens are small but adequate and located on the second and tenth levels. The location is excellent. You are close to everything. Across the street is BC Place and Rodgers Arena. Lots of restaurants along Robson street. Granville street has lots of homeless people and we felt ok walking down there. Stanley Park is beautiful and absolutely huge.

I stayed for four nights in this hotel while stopping over in Vancouver on my way to New Zealand. The hotel has residents as well as guests, as it is a non-profit business, and part of what you pay goes towards supporting single mothers and families. Parts of the hotel were also closed during my stay, as the hotel is currently being extended. In spite of this I found this a great place to stay, in a superb central location, and excellent value for money. I had a double room on the 12th (top floor) which was pleasantly decorated and very comfortable. There was a shared arrangement for the shower and toilet, whereby there was access from the adjoining room with a locking mechanism to ensure privacy. This worked well for me, as my neighbour always left the bathroom in an immaculately clean condition. There was a vanity unit and sink inside the room, as well as a good sized fridge. Kitchenettes and cooking utensils were available. The staff at the hotel were lovely - very friendly and efficient, and went out of their way to be helpful. I had a minor problem with housekeeping, which was due to an oversight because if the building works, and although I wasn’t the least bit concerned, the lovely lady from housekeeping visited me personally to offer her apologies, and the hotel gave me a discount for the inconvenience.
All in all an excellent place to stay for a very reasonable price.

Reservation by their website works well. Prices are very reasonable. The hotel is very well-situated downtown, within walking distance of a lot of attractions and 2 metro stations & lots of buses. Recently renovated, there is now the old and the new parts. Staff was polite and helpful at all times. No breakfast but coffee in the lobby every morning. A few machines with snacks and such at the same place. Note that your room card enables you to unlock access to the elevator, kitchen, laundry room ($2/soap, $2/wash $2/dryer). You can rent kitchen utensils at the counter or bring your own.

We stayed twice during the same month and got twice the same room with 2 single beds. Our room had a bathroom shared with the room next to us but we had no access as per the room rate selected. The only problem with such an arrangement between 2 rooms is the lack of soundproofing; the bathroom door on our side had none and we could hear everything when someone from the other room used the bathroom. That could be improved!

Other than that, the room was clean, beds were comfortable, and we had plenty of towels and toiletries, good t.v., phone, clock, air dryer, sink and fridge. To be noted, rooms at the back of the hotel give on an alley. At 6:30 every morning, a garbage truck backs up in it. Also you can hear the air conditioning/exchanger from the next building. There are ear plugs right on the night table for a reason, I guess. In any case, it can be a tad noisy.

In summary, this is practical place to stay offering a decent clean room with access to a kitchen and laundry at a good price.

It was our first time at the YWCA Hotel Vancouver. We booked this hotel because it was within walking distance to the Rogers Arena where our concert took place. Secondly, we saw wonderful reviews regarding its cleanliness and customer service. When we first walked into the hotel, we were able to check in early and were assigned an electronic card key for our room. Besides unlocking our room, it is used for accessing the elevator keys as well. This is a great security feature and helps my family and I feel safe staying there. We had to order out all of our meals through Door Dash since this hotel did not have a restaurant or free breakfast available. Fortunately, Door Dash delivers right to the hotel front desk so we were able to pick up our deliveries at the Lobby and enjoy the meals safely inside our room. The room was very spacious, clean, and decorated modernly. We love the glass shower in the bathroom, but we had to ask for toiletries like shampoo and lotion. The beds were firm and had sufficient pillows to rest your head comfortably for sleeping. However, we wish the pillows were a little bit more firm just because of what we were used to at home. No complaints in terms of internet, TV, and closet space with hangers. There is even a large fridge in the room as a bonus, but no microwave. The hotel provided an ice bucket and 4 paper cups for water, but no coffee maker. Conveniently, there is a common kitchen on my floor so you have access to full appliances. All and all, highly recommended hotel since it was recently renovated and close to everything, especially if you are here in Vancouver for a concert. Also, great access to the subway system - around 10 min walk or less and the closest station is only 30 min to the airport ($11 both ways). In addition, the hotel was able to hold our luggage safely for a few hours after we checked out so we can explore the city or go shopping freely. We surely enjoyed our stay and the profits from the hotel are a great way to give back to the community.

I stayed for 7 nights, so benefited from the YWCA Hotel Vancouver's weekly rate of approximately $95-96 per night, during peak summer season. Even the daily rate, though, is a still reasonable ~$115 per night (peak season). Hallways and shared washrooms appear to have been regularly cleaned throughout the day, and the facility was recently renovated to provide a fresh, modern, and bright appearance. Though I never used them, free coffee is provided in the main lobby, and they have a fitness centre, a cool rooftop patio, and several shared kitchens. A lesser known feature is you can request a complimentary day passes at the nearby YWCA fitness centre and pool during your stay. Overall, you're getting hotel or university/college conference housing quality cleanliness and service for not much more than the cost of a hostel.

My friend and I arrived in Vancouver as international students from Philippines. Since it was too expensive to shoulder quarantine fee (hotel). The YWCA offered shared accommodation for quarantine amounting $750 each for 14 days. Nice place to stay near Rogers Arena, staffs were very accommodating and friendly. Complete package to stay with telephone, television, microwave, fridge, hot and cold water, bath, eating utensils, and most specially wifi.

I stayed at the hotel in the 5 bed room with private bath with 3 others for the week while we attended a conference at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The room was bigger than I expected. The beds seemed bigger than twin sized but smaller than a double. The beds were nevertheless very comfortable. There was enough room for 4 suitcases and movement around each of the beds. There was even room for a table, chair, refrigerator and an open armoire. Even though there was a large bathroom in the room, it was convenient that there were showers and toilet down the hall, that were always available. Although, there was no daily room service, it was easy enough to call for the room, towels and linens to be refreshed/replaced which was always completed before we would return at the end of the day. The rooftop patio was a nice place to relax at the end of the day. It was a bit of a walk to the convention centre or to take the Canada Line (metro station) for travel to and from the airport, about 10-15 minutes, but the location is good. I found that everything was within doable walking distance. It was a wonderful stay. I was able to get a good night’s sleep. Each night I was there it was so quiet, no outside room noises at all. I will definitely be staying here again and recommending this hotel to others planning a stay in Vancouver.

I don't stay anywhere else when I'm in Vancouver. This hotel is, as I mentioned, clean, safe, and inexpensive compared to what else is in Vancouver. It is also central to the main transit routes for ease of travel, is reasonably quiet, and close to the Stadium (if that's your thing). I often book the room with a hall toilet and almost 99.9% of the time the other guests leave those facilities clean and tidy (only once did I find a negligent, selfish person had showered and left the mat crumpled and soaked, and water pooling all over the floor). Those hall facilities are always clean (even if water soaked). Most often you don't even encounter anyone there. There are also well-supplied kitchens so folks can make their own meals, which is a bonus in expensive Vancouver. In the morning there is complimentary coffee in the main lounge, and water is always available. The hotel is trying to be green. I also like the 24 hour in advance cancellation-no penalty policy. Finally, please book through the actual YWCA hotel website, so that all the proceeds of your stay go towards supporting social programs for women and families. Thanks!

Answer from Richard T

I have always had to provide a valid credit card number in order to secure a reservation. Payment was not due at the time of reserving. Payment was due at the time of checking in. I’ve always paid with a credit card, but I imagine that they accept cash payment as well. You could get the answer by emailing them directly.
