I am always treated very well here and this time wasn't any different! I phoned to make a reservation since I was having a hard time finding reasonably priced accomodations downtown YVR for one night (I had actually booked a room on Expedia elsewhere to hold a spot, which I ended up cancelling). I travelled to Vancouver just for 22 hours for an appointment at the Swiss Consulate and did not want to break the bank or "splurge" with a hotel stay. I am generally a budget traveller anyway and do not need anything fancy, as long as it is clean and the beds are comfortable... I spoke to Ivan Chang at the reception and he was absolutely wonderful to talk to! Super helpful in pulling up my previous stay history and offering me a great rate and complimentary upgrade to a suite! He mentioned a portion of the hotel had caught on fire this past October and that a suite was all they had, but that he would honor a return guest rate for me. What a guy! Wonderful service and he really made me feel like a valued customer. Yes the hotel is old and some may think it seems dodgy but it suits my needs very well! There is a Tim Horton's across the street for breakfast and a pizza place that is open late just blocks down. The property is walking distance from downtown and close to the Sky train stations (11 min walk). What else can you ask for? Excellent stay to say the least and will definitely return! Thank you Ivan and team. :-)

Stayed 3 nights at Barclay hotel. Very clean hotel with a very good location and at a good price in an expensive city. No elevator, small room with a fridge. A kettle is provided when asking for it. Helpful reception. You can visit Stanley Park and all the important things in Downtown, by foot from the hotel. We walked to Chinatown and Gastown too. A big supermarket is at 600 m. Restaurants close to the hotel. Metrostation at about 1 km from the hotel for train to Pacific Central Station. The bus from Horseshoe bay stops at about the same distance. The free shuttle to Capilano Bridge stops at 2 minutes from the hotel. Ferry to Granville Island at walking distance. Barclay Hotel is a clean and quiet place for a visit to Vancouver, if you don't expect any luxury.

While it was centrally located and good price, the room was a little filthy. The shower curtain and tiles had mould. The floor did not seem to be vacuumed any day. The staff were not friendly at all.

Cheap one night downtown stayover, no frills and basic. There's no lift so if you're on a higher floor be prepared to wrestle with your luggage. Rooms are purely functional and it will be noisy until around midnight. If that doesn't bother you then this is your place. Service was perfunctory and matches the hotel in general.

This is a budget-friendly hotel, compared to other properties which offers great value for money. The location is fantastic, central and within easy walking distance to just about all landmarks and interesting areas in the YVR downtown area. All staff at reception were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are basic, but very clean and offer comfort. A most definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Clean, quiet, safe, affordable and great location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were helped with our luggage to the second floor. We were happy to tip him well. There is an Arcade/bar next door which was fun.

The location is perfect - right on the street with lots of restaurants, shopping stores etc. The room was not very clean (had also some smell), with furniture and bathroom fixtures that needed to be changed. The bed was big but not comfortable. The staff not so friendly.

We enjoyed a 2-night stay at this location. It was wonderful to experience downtown Vancouver at an excellent price. The presence of numerous restaurants on Robson Street, proximity to Coal Harbour and Canada Place, along with the helpful staff, clean rooms, and overall value made it a fantastic choice.

Affordable price. Small hotel. Rooms are clean and comfy. Great value for the price. But!!!!! No elevator. Front desk person was nice to carry up and down my one heavy piece. All necessary items in the room. Air conditioning and tv top notch. Plenty of restaurants nearby
