It is an older hotel in dire need of updates, including working sockets. The shower had decent water pressure, wifi was spotty. Pillows and bed were comfortable, a/c was ok but noisy. Nothing to see at this location but easy enough to get an Uber into downtown Van. We had the buffet breakfast which was not a huge selection but fruit was tasty, eggs and bacon and porridge were all enjoyed. They did not keep the scrambled eggs full though and I had some last bits of it. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
unexpectedly got my period in the middle of the night, couple of drops of blood on the sheet at most and they took 100$ from the security deposit for the sheet. the (male) manager was smirking the whole time explaining it and not giving me a chance to explain myself. the rest of the staff was awesome but that totally put a damper on the experience
Staff are lovely and friendly, but the hotel has no personality to commend it. Rooms are mushroom brown/beige with no style, but comfortable enough. No thriving communal areas at all. Just one restarant/bar, which is mostly empty and feels soulless. Sub-par breakfast offering, with wet and slightly underdone bacon, turkey suasage (both cold) and scrambled egg "brick". No room service. No room cleaning except on request. Definitely a disappointing place to stay, compared to other Holiday Inns we have stayed at..
The staff at this Holiday Inn are some of the genuinely friendliest hotel staff I have ever run across. The location is good, with a 20 minute walk to False Creek. Transit is convenient and runs often. Getting down town by bus is very easy. I recommend this hotel as an option if you are staying in Vancouver.
This is the best cleanest holiday inn i ever stayed at! Room was super clean, location is 5 minute walk to canada line lrt! Good blackout curtains, good wifi, good ac and hear! Friendly service! 30 min walk to stanley park and the beach or 7 min uber or 10 min transit to west end!
Really nice hotel. I’m an IHG diamond member and am quite used to all IHG brands and this holiday inn reminded me more of a Crowne Plaza. (The room at least). Very spacious with an unbelievably comfortable bed and cool balcony view of downtown Vancouver. No faults really, it’s 9min walk to the subway station which will have you at the waterfront in about 15min. Would stay again.
Special thanks to Myles the manager on duty, and all at Holiday Inn. We were in a spot when our daughter was put in VGH. We were over to celebrate a graduation and ready to go home when our daughter was suddenly put in the hospital. We needed help. After explaining the issue to Myles he was able to not only help but made sure we had all we needed, we felt they had our back. Thanks again we know to you its just your job, but to us it felt like much more! K and J May/2022
Vancouver was an "add on" to our trip to Vancouver Island so we used IHG points to stay here for 2 nights. It was a very pleasant surprise! Wonderful view from the 5th floor, quiet fridge in room. Restaurant was good for breakfast, food not so great for dinner. Excellent service overall. Easy walk to train station and frequent bus service on Broadway.
After the Park Inn shuttered its doors in September 2021, my grandparents were in need of a new accommodation for their medical appointments. The Holiday Inn, because of its proximity to various medical offices, made perfect sense. Acting as their medical escort, I was kind of excited to be staying here since it offered a small bit of nostalgia: I remember staying here in the early 1990s, with my aunt, for a medical appointment. I don’t remember the experience per se, but I do recall looking out the window towards Book Warehouse and requesting a short walk in its direction. We eventually went and I bought a book about cats (my introduction to the Sphynx breed!). I also recall dining at the attached Chinese restaurant – now called Shanghai-Lu – and enjoying a whole Dungeness Crab. Okay, that’s enough strolling down memory lane. I know my grandparents lamented the closure of Park Inn (having been regular patrons for over 10 years). While I never thought it was anything special, they’d developed some good relationships with the front-desk and restaurant staff – they were largely on a first-name basis! But be that as it may, even they admitted the rooms – and especially the beds – weren’t the best. For this reason alone, the Holiday Inn could be considered an upgrade. We spent 3 nights here and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was nice to have a restful sleep on quality beds versus ones that sank in at the middle. But it’s not just comfort that Holiday Inn wins points for: It’s also slightly closer to the medical facility we have to visit; thus, it’s more convenient. Now, a bit more about the hotel: Renovated in 2014, the Holiday Inn has been transformed into a modern space. The lobby looks clean and smart while the rooms have all the amenities we’ve come to expect of a contemporary establishment: Complimentary WiFi, flatscreen TV, comfy beds, charging ports for our smart devices, mini fridge, and sundries in the bathrooms. The rooms themselves are neutral in tone and colour, but remain cozy. Our room overlooked Broadway and, yes, I could see Book Warehouse down the street ;) The Holiday Inn also features a decent restaurant: Stages Bistro (see my earlier review on this site). The cuisine is varied – as most hotel restaurants tend to be – but the food is pretty good. If you want to go elsewhere, however, you’ll have no shortage of options along West Broadway: Shanghai-Lu is right next door; A&W is nearby; Domino’s is across the street; the popular Cactus Club is about 2 minutes down the street, as is the tasty Yolks; the legendary Tojo’s is barely 5 minutes away; and, well, you get the picture – there are a LOT of options. In terms of location, I think the Holiday Inn is pretty good. A lot of people seem to come here for medical, which makes sense given its proximity to VGH and other such facilities. If you want to go downtown, all one needs to do is walk 5 minutes to the CanadaLine and you’ll be there in less than 10 minutes. With the way West Broadway is being ripped up now, CanadaLine is more efficient than a taxi. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. It was nice to patronize this hotel again after 20+ years! Though, if I had to complain about anything, I’d say the elevators are painfully slow! But that’s a relatively minor gripe.…
Perfect location with plenty of restaurants nearby and only 10 minute walk to subway. Very friendly and helpful desk staff. Small but nice rooms. Mine had a nice balcony. American and Canadian TV channels. Comfortable mattress. Refrigerator in room. Big surprise was daily housekeeping without asking. Clean rooms and hotel in general.
