Gorgeous place! I felt I was staying in the lovely home of a dear friend, rather than a paid establishment. Beautiful and tasteful antique furniture and furnishings throughout. As an interior designer, I really appreciated the thoughtful appointments and the wonderful ambience in every room. Thanks to Covid, I was not able to enjoy the lounge and dining areas, except to admire them while passing through but a delicious take-out breakfast was available as the alternative to sit-down service and my room overlooked the little courtyard oasis, which very pleasant. The hosts provided flawless check-in instructions and a binder of helpful information in the room that made for smooth sailing. Their Covid protocols are excellent and the whole house is very clean. Super quiet and walkable location with literally dozens of restaurants within a few minutes to a half hour from the inn. Also great proximity to Stanley Park. An excellent experience all round. Highly recommended.…
We loved our stay at this bed and breakfast! So much nicer then staying in a hotel. Perfect location. We were able to walk to the beach & Stanley park, rent bikes, walk to restaurants and parking is provided If you reserve a spot prior to your stay. Check in is easy with no issues and we were able to check in early on your own. Coffee & breakfast in our room was also amazing! Thank you!!
We enjoyed our stay at the English Bay Inn. Room was clean and had all amenities we required. The location makes it super easy to walk to English Bay, Stanley Park and of course a tonne if restaurants. Unfortunately due to COVID, we weren’t able to enjoy breakfast in the dining room, but they offered breakfast in the room which was appreciated. Thanks again! Hope to see you again soon!
This bed and breakfast Inn is like a wonderful time capsule. As you walk up the drive and enter the property you feel like you are taking a step back in time. That’s not to say that modern comforts like WiFi and Netflix are not available, but the lounge and dining room are furnished and styled from a bygone age. Service is superb and the breakfasts are excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts are a delight as guests all sit around a large formal dining table and introduce each other and chat about their plans and experiences. A great way to meet fellow guests. BUT.............choose your room carefully, we selected room 3 and it is like a shoebox. We had luggage for our 3 week vacation and there was no room for our suitcases and hand baggage. We spent the 7 days we stayed in the property clambering around and over all our stuff and we were unable to unpack. We lived out of our suitcases. The tiny sink is outside the bathroom and I felt like I was shaving in a dolls house. Also, carefully read your confirmatory emails from the English Bay Inn so that you know how to enter the property if you arrive in the afternoon or evening. We would definitely stay here again, but we would choose a bigger room!…
A fantastic oasis in Vancouver - perfectly sighted in an area that has a great vibe. The house is beautifully quirky and so carefully presented we felt at home straight away (a real tonic in these days of anonymous hotels). Breakfast was a communal affair and a great chance to chat with the other guests over good food and lots of coffee. Also the guys could not have been more helpful and attentive (showing real concern when our taxi failed to arrive on time and sorting it out for us).
My wife and I stayed at this wonderful place in early August. The location is perfect being close to Stanley Park, shopping, restaurants and English Bay beach. Lovely room with unbelievably good breakfasts served at the table in 5 star style. Highly recommended.
My partner and I visited Vancouver for four days. Late June of '19. Remember - Anchorage, AK broke their all-time heat record - 90 degrees... We stayed in Room 3 - which if you read the B&Bs website has it's pros and cons. To set the right tone - we loved this B&B. Following their top four (4) reasons to stay at their B&B... Location - My partner and I were driving basically British Columbia for about 10 days (Thanks Hertz!). Our goal for Vancouver was to arrive, park the vehicle and then either walk or use public transportation (we both walked and used their bus and small boat ferry system). Google Maps say the B&B is located 1.1 miles or 13 min walk to the edge of Stanley Park. One day we did the "seawall" perimeter walk which is 10km or 13,123 steps (re: City of Vancouver). We lucked out for the Canada Day celebration (Think July 4th) which actually is on July 1st. We walked from the B&B down to the Stanley Park path to actually see it. And of course - all of the folks dressed in the color red and also "tattoos" of the red maple leaf. Hospitality - Friendly Staff - a manager and at least three other employees who provided guest services (they asked at breakfast as you were leaving the food area if you wanted anything done to your room). I casually mentioned the small chocolate squares - that were replenished when we got back to the room that night. Accommodation - I was the one who booked room 3. For us - some of our decision points are: 1) security (you need to read the check-in PDF that they send you). No one answers the front door. 2) Location - check. 3) Excellent Breakfast - check. See below. 4) Place to sleep - check. 5) Free Parking - check. 6) Wi-Fi. I did not discover their cable TV - but I did discover their Wi-FI (+200mb down). I don't have cable TV at home and actually prefer streaming TV. For downloading for the plane trip back and overall watching - check! Did I mention the iron stairway out of the room's french patio doors down to the patio? Breakfast is served every day from 8:00am to 9:00am. My partner thoroughly enjoy well prepared breakfasts that were different for the four mornings that we were there. I've attached photos. Also - for whatever reason - our six chairs around the breakfast table had roughly a 50/50 split of Americans and Brits. We agreed to not use the "B" word - they agreed to not use the "T" work. Yeah! We both would highly recommend this B&B!!!…
Position is very good: close to the English Bay and the Stanley Park. With a plesant walk we reached the Aquabus stop to Granville Island. Breakfast was ok... Positive things end here. The main issue is the cleanliness: - when we arrived after 11 hours' fligh and we found stains and hair on our sheets. We informed the innkeeper who changed them. - lots of long black hair in the washroom floor - I found also a long black hair in the salty croissant...enjoy your breakfast! Even if it was well cooked I was disgusted. I was too tired to discuss again and have my holiday ruined, but this was unacceptable, especially considering the high price we paid. - I didn't like room nr 2. Nothing cozy or romantic in a small, dirty room.
We booked for two stays in April - first in the apartment, second in the B&B - both were excellent. The apartment gave us the room/freedom we wanted after the flight from the UK to make food whenever we wanted, get over our jetlag and get our bearings. Returning to Vancouver a week later we stayed in room 1 and enjoyed the breakfasts. The facilities in both were perfect The staff were great - really friendly and helpful The property is beautifully maintained and on a leafy road just 5 minutes walk from English Bay itself and 20 minutes from Canada Place. The perfect alternative to big commercial downtown hotels.
Had a wonderful stay at English Bay Inn. We were there for a week. The hosts were delightful and couldn’t do enough for us. The decor is very tasteful. Fabulous tasty imaginative breakfasts. Lovely lounge for relaxing also. Great location right near beach and Stanley Park. Can walk to downtown in 20/30mins. Also can walk to Aquatic Centre to get ferry to Granville Island or Kittsilano beach. Would definitely recommend.
