Gage Suites at UBC garners appreciation for its array of amenities, with guests praising the fully-equipped kitchens and comfy beds, as well as the convenience of on-site dining options. The hotel's cleanliness, especially in rooms equipped with helpful kitchen amenities, is consistently lauded. Its location near UBC and local attractions adds to the convenience factor.
However, the value proposition is a point of contention, as some guests consider it overpriced due to the high costs and smaller room sizes. While the rooms are well-furnished, their size and comfort have been noted as concerns. The service is generally regarded as professional and courteous, though there are occasional mentions of it being costly.

Detailed Reviews
My partner and I were looking for an affordable place to stay in Vancouver while visiting for a wedding, and Gage Suites fit the bill. The apartment-style rooms meant that we could have a few meals in our room each day without difficulty. UBC campus has many coffee shops and restaurants, a bike share program to get around, and easy access to transit (just about every bus line ends at UBC). It’s a bit far out from the core of the city but that just meant that we got to see many neighbourhoods and use transit to explore like locals, hopping on and off the buses when something looked interesting to us. While on campus we checked out Wreck Beach and the Japanese Garden. Wish we had more time to do the botanical gardens and museum of anthropology. UBC is its own little community and would highly recommend staying at Gage Suites to experience both campus and Vancouver proper!

we had a very nice stay (2 nights) at the gage suites, although we had trouble finding the lobby as there were many buildings and it was our first time here. once we got to our room, we felt very happy as everything was clean, and well lit. our room had a nice view and i appreciated that it included utensils, bowls&plates, cups, pots&pans, and even extra towels, a good quality hair blower, as well as a shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispenser in the shower! one thing i will say though is that the pillows were a bit large and hurt my neck so i just didn’t use them. i recommend one large and one small pillow to satisfy size difference of guests. overall i would recommend this place and stay here again! thank yooouuuuu

Due to massive construction at UBC- three new buildings are underway near the residence - the air was difficult to breath. The fact that Vancouver is experiencing increased pollution did not help. Air filters should be provided for each room

Very satisfied by the studio. Brand new building. Excellent kitchen facilities. For somebody who is connected to UBC this is the ideal place to stay. The Vancouver public transport (named here Transit) is simply wonderful. There are 8 buses and 2 trolley-buses that stop at a couple of minute walking distance from Gage and will take you to any location in the city and neighbouring communities.

The guest services team are extremely helpful and informative. Had great recommendations and maps of the campus. Had a Queen room with a stove, sink, fridge, and many kitchen related items (cutlery, pots/pans, dish soap, even a compost). This was on the tail end of our trip and we were happy to relax in the very comfortable beds. Access to transit is maybe a 5 minute walk. You can get anywhere from here. Very close to the water too. The campus is gorgeous and the museums on campus are incredible. So many food options right on campus too. Wish we would have had more time to go to the pool and explore more of the area. Will definitely be back.

Gage surprised me…the space was small but complete in every way other than not having individual thermostat control for the room. The room had a lovely “new” feel to it, the queen bed was super comfortable, and the entire bachelor suite was extremely functional and really clean in every respect. On campus, for $200, it can only be beat by Triumph House, which offers a similar room in a boutique hotel setting with much less street noise for only $125/night. Would I recommend both opportunities? Absolutely!

The rooms are very modern and have just enough details included in them to make your stay comfortable. The location is perfect if you have classes or business on campus. Everything is within walking distance. Someone designed the space very well to not feel too cramped but include all the comforts of home. The efficiency kitchen includes a full refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and sink. Basic plates, bowls, cups/glasses, and flatware are included. A pot and pan are also included, although I would have liked to have seen a spatula. I appreciated the energy-saving lighting that was thoughtfully placed throughout the room and bathroom. Indirect lighting provided perfect study lighting. Overall - a very comfortable, efficient, and convenient stay. I will definitely return when I need to return to the campus.

This was my second stay, and it was a little disappointing. The pros: good price, friendly staff, the room had a comfortable bed, and it’s a quiet location despite being on a university campus. This is also a great location if you’re doing a lot on campus and in the general vicinity. A little more time needed to get to downtown or Main and Commercial neighborhoods but fairly easy if you take transit or have a car. If you have a car, there’s a good amount of parking at a fair daily price (compared to what some other hotels charge).
The cons: stains on the headboard, sheets and one of the towels. The tv is also frustrating to use because it’s a streaming app tv and the wifi seemed to keep losing a signal and causing the show to freeze. But, I was not in town to watch tv, so it was not a huge problem, just an annoyance.

The room had a full kitchen with dishes and a dishwasher, so it was very convenient. The location was great with both outdoor and underground parking. UBC has much greenery and food outlets as well as other conveniences. It is a really nice place to stay. Only issue was the price, though it seems to be on par with other hotels these days.

I attended a concert at UBC, this property was close to the venue, easy to find and very comfortable to stay in. It was the first time I stayed at Gages Suites I would definitely stay there again. The staff were really helpful and friendly.
