This was our third time staying at the beautiful Barclay house, we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Vancouver. We were sad to hear that Arty was no longer there but none the less Dennis was still there. He really made our stay most enjoyable as usual with his witty humour and charming personality. I really highly recommend this beautiful old...

I travel and lot and try to stay at BnBs, but Barclay House definitely made my top 5 list! Dennis is a fantastic host, available but unassuming. I was a little concerned about having a room right T the top of the stairs, but the noise was no problem. The room was very comfortable - great bed, lots of space...

I thought I had made an online reservation at Barclay House but had not gotten it right. So, I showed up and no one was expecting my arrival. I was out of country, no cell service, no one awaiting my arrival... so I Skyped my husband who called. Dennis answered and broke out of what he was doing at 7...

Just stayed three nights at the Barclay House in Vancouver's west end. Fabulous two room suite with a huge King size bed for a "famous" guy like me (Dennis are listening?). Breakfasts are delicious. The location couldn't be better. Close to Robson and a short walk to Coal Harbor and Vancouver's world class waterfront. We even walked to Stanley Park...

Our recent stay at Barclay House was wonderful. Dennis is a marvellous host. He and his staff made our stay in Vancouver very special. The breakfasts were impressive - Eggs Benedict, Breakfast quesadilla, etc. served with beautiful presentation. Our room, The Peak, was a real treat. The Peak is situated on the top floor, has a lovely view of the...

I just visited my son, his wife and my new grandson in Vancouver with my 90 year old mother, all the way from Philadelphia. We couldn't have found a better place to stay. Our room was elegant, the breakfasts were scrumptious, and Dennis, our host, is the most wonderful and caring person. I left feeling I had made a new...

The manager was friendly & helpful. We had delicious breakfast's (great eggs benny). When visiting Vancouver again we will definitely come back.

A great little place, hidden away in a quiet street, but just a few minutes from the beach one way and harbour the other. Staff are so polite and helpful, the rooms beautiful, bed incredibly confortable and the breakfast very very special. I'd like to stay longer just to try more breakfast combinations. Would definitely stay here again if in...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
