My daughter and I just returned from a week-long stay at Barclay House and we loved it! It is conveniently located, just near Stanley Park, in a very quiet neighbourhood in the West End. One can easily walk to downtown Vancouver with its interesting neighbourhoods and there are countless ethnic restaurants in the West End which are excellent. The breakfasts...

My trip was made most memorable and enjoyable because of the exceptional service my family and I received. Dennis was an amazing host with his daily travel tips and entertaining stories. I have never been entertained to by such warm and friendly hospitality. Thank you Dennis! The food was amazing! Thank you Art! I was very well fed and still...

I stayed at the Barclay house with my grandma, mom, sister, and all my aunts in lieu of Mother's day. It was a great trip, but staying at the Barclay house made it that much better! Dennis was a fantastic entertainer, and the breakfast was always good. My reference to Dancing Queen is directed at Dennis who both sang and...

The rooms were beautiful and comfy. Good size for a city B&B. The bed and breakfast is on a quiet street, but in the center of everything. This was the best breakfast we've had years! Highly recommended!

My wife and I recently stayed here for five nights and I have to tell you that we enjoyed the area. With about a five minute walk or less out of the door, your on the main drag called Robson St. I walked to and from the convention I was at and the city is full of beauty. The manager...

This was our second stay at the Barclay House. Last year, we stayed in the Mountain room, which was nice, but Dennis let us look at the other rooms, and we fell in love with the Beach room. When we planned our trip this year, we adjusted our trip schedule, so we could be sure to get the Beach room,...

My room was clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and I felt welcomed. Good variety of breakfast menu and portion is big enough to last me till the afternoon. If you want a place to stay in Vancouver that feels like home this is the place to be.

I chose the Barclay House because I wanted to stay somewhere else other than the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre for a conference I was attending there. BH was the perfect choice. It is a short walk to the Wall Centre, and the prices were better. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious and sufficient to last me until...

My 10 year old daughter and I just spent 4 days in Vancouver and we loved the Barclay House. We felt like living at someone's private home, yet had all the comfort of a luxury hotel. Dennis and Art (the owners) were attentive and present when we needed them without being overbearing. The daily breakfast was out of this world...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
