We stayed for 2 nights at the Shaughnessy and we really had fun there. The "standard" rooms are tiny, but were fine/comfortable enough if you don't mind tiny. The upgraded rooms (my parents stayed in one) were larger, and quite nice. Theirs had a fabulous view of the city from the balcony. Considering lodging prices in Canada, this place seemed...

I stayed 30 days and it cost me close to $1000, including a dozen breakfasts. Pretty inexpensive for its location (20 min from downtown in bus, 10 min walk to any business you want). It is not a fancy place. The decoration sucks (the colors in the corridors were... let's say... amazing), the single rooms are pretty small (less than...

It's at 1125 West 12th Avenue. Filthy, infested with bedbugs, smells bad, dangerously outdated and broken fitness equipment, billing mistakes, will not accept your luggage and cause it to be lost. You can find much better and cleaner accommodation in Vancouver. Evening staff is wonderful, but the daytime managers are crooks.

This hotel is kitted out in the style of an ocean liner. It has excellent views over downtown vancouver and gives an affordable and fun place to stay. There's lots to do such as a gym, inside and outside hot tub, mini golf and shuffle board (and most of these can be used at no extra charge). Downtown is walkable...

The worst thing about this place is that you don't realize how much it sucks until you've stayed there a day or two. The amazing part is that it's usually almost full, and at the prices. 950 for a closet, and 1350 for a very mediocre 1 bedroom. Be ready for an extra $70 "maintenance fee" they mention just as...

What an awful hotel. Don't stay there if you don't have to. Rooms look like a 1970's camper. Smells awful. Dirty. Awful, awful, awful. Wasted lots of money on this one. Go to priceline and get a good room for less than you pay at this one. What a joke!!

I have stayed at this B&B four different times and each time was just the same. A good decent inexpensive place to stay in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Breakfast is included, and it's a good breakfast. The single rooms are tiny, but good enough for one person. The two-room suites are better for two people. I don't know how two people...

The rooms are very small and not very clean. If you have any kind of back pains or hip do not sleep on the so called bed, you will not be able to get out of it in the morning that is if you can sleep at all, I have had better night sleep in a tent on the ground....

I stayed for 8 days while relocating to vancouver and once I upgraded to a larger room was quite comfortable. If I was just going to stay 1 or 2 nights the smaller room would have been ok. Staff at front desk and restaurant were friendly. My room faced the back and was extremely quiet and the bed was comfortable....

Sometimes when one says, "You get what you pay for" it has negative connotations. But in the case of Shaughnessy Village it is absolutely true-- with a positive spin. This hotel is ridiculously cheap in comparison to other hotels in Vancouver, yet it still provides a clean, safe, convenient, comfortable accommodations. Albeit, it comes with a dose of tiny rooms,...

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighbourhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.

“Rates go up as you do in the choice of room and height in the building. The back of the Village is less noisy than the front which is on a major thouroughfare, nevertheless it is well insulated. Studio suites are more than adequate for the business traveller. Couples may want a one bedroom.”
