Good location, within walking distance of most downtown attractions.Basic room,no microwave, fridge or ironing board.Would suit a short term stay. The room I had faced an apartment complex which was quite rowdy on the weekend that I stayed. On a positive note the adjoining restaurant did some of the best chicken wings in Vancouver.

Overall, if you book at the right time and get a room high up in the hotel, it's not bad for the location and price. If you manage to get a room on the 1st floor above the nightclub, do not expect to get any sleep. If you intend to hit the town till 3am, go for it. If you're...

The room smelled like something had died inside of it. The first night we were there, around 2am, we heard a gurgelling from the bathroom and went inside to see blue stuff coming up from the train. It came up and filled about half the bathtub before draining down. I called the hotel twice from the phone in the room...

I had a very good experience staying at the Howard Johnson in downtown Vancouver. I stayed there after arriving late on an international flight to the Vancouver Airport. I was pleased to arrive at the hotel to a pleasant staff member, who was very friendly and helpful. The room was good, the bed very comfortable and the location was close...

I booked this hotel for a solo trip and I ended up having a friend join me as well. They had no problems changing my reservation to add a second bed. The location was great, quite close to the metro, and many great places to eat nearby. The room was tiny but well equipped, with a bigger closet, coffee maker,...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
