I have experienced shock and fear all at once: In the WALDORF!!! I have never walked through extreme poverty and drug users during 20min before, I did to go there. Once at the hotel, the room wasn't cleaned, no curtains, direct view on the street lights, horrible smell. The carpet went wet out of nowhere, I called the reception about it. No one came. It stayed soaked till the end, could not walk on half of the room. Unfortunately I forgot to get my security deposit back.(cash) when I left - I got home, the manager called me saying she will keep my $200 cause I smoked in the room! False accusation! Cheap night in the Vancouver's worst area became A extremely expensive nightmare - Don't go there!!!

After walking down Hastings we should have realized that this was not going to be the comfortable night we expected after viewing the amazing pictures touting this hotel on line. Once getting through the grubby reception area and making our way up the crumb infested stair we just wanted to lay our heads down and rest. However, the human body fluids that stained the sheets said otherwise. The night watchman did help us out and move us to the "luxury" suite. The sheets had less matter on them but the lone pubic hair on the shower wall (we named him sneaky Pete)was a constant reminder of the happier times spent there with a John and his hooker !!! This is the unclean crotch of hotels.

The worst Hotel I have been in the last 30 years. No service - no breakfast(as advertised) in the midle of an industrial area with view a parking lot. Nothing to see nearby. I got COVID arriving with the Quantum of the Seas and nearly died.. Do not go here --do not believe the picture on tripadvisor.

Staff: Pros * very friendly on arrival * offered dining suggestions in the area * happy to store bags prior to check-in * efficient with check-in and check-out process Cons * issues with room, let me know they would address concerns with staff. However, no apology or compensation offered. Room: Pros * nice shampoo and conditioner * good shower pressure * coffee provided Cons * Linen on bed filthy with hair all over dooner and top sheet and old blood stain. Large brown patch on underside of dooner, as well as small patches that looked like poo. *very cosy with little space for luggage * power-points for changing located in the bathroom and under the bench where the tv sits. None available near bed. * shower full of mould with silicone falling off. For $188CAD not really good enough.

Awful property and staff. Dirty and connected to a night club so good luck sleeping. It's also not mentioned that it is in the bad part of town with hundreds of homeless burnt out on drugs wondering a block or two away.

I feel bad about bashing this place because the customer service was fine and I feel like they tried. There was a new laminated floor in our room and a fresh coat of paint on the walls and they cleaned the room reasonably well. But there's only so much you can do with this place, so you need to be aware of a few things. First of all, I booked this because I was only going to spend one night there and the pics looked good. There's also artsy history behind this place that theoretically gives it character. And it was NOT cheap! I paid $180 CAD, which is cheaper than most options but certainly not at the rate of a fleabag motel. So how bad could it be? We have no idea what the "bad areas" are in Vancouver, but according to a tour guide we had, this is literally the worst area in the city and possibly in all of Canada. I come from NYC. Certainly I am no stranger to the homeless. But I've never seen this before. There's an entire tent city in a park blocks away and the spillover homeless are in large groups surrounding the hotel. As we followed the GPS driving there, we were watched and followed, and before we even made it, my wife didn't want to stay. We circled the block twice because we missed it the first time. We only saw a liquor store with homeless people passed out in front of it. The hotel is upstairs from this and a tiki bar, which we saw on our second pass around the block. We parked on the street because there was no obvious parking lot. We had no idea if our rental car with our luggage would be there when we got back. We had to be buzzed into the lobby because they clearly have major security concerns. There's a sign on the door not to let anyone in. When we checked in, there was a tiny Japanese woman behind the desk, and that was it. No security guard or anyone to protect her if someone tried to push their way in. There were homeless people watching us enter as we were buzzed in, and if 5 of them decided to push in behind us, we weren't going to be able to stop them. I felt sorry for her as an employee and sorry for us as guests. There is no elevator. There was a sign on the front desk alerting us that loud music would play until 2:00 AM on weekends because it was an "event hotel" and that ear plugs were available. We were not notified of this before booking, but fortunately it was a weeknight and did not apply to our stay. We were informed that they have a deal with a public parking lot across the street and we can park in a designated space for free. There are only 5 of those spots and we got the last one. If they were all taken, we would've had to park on the street. None of this is obvious before booking as "free parking" is listed as an amenity and you would expect a hotel to have it's own lot. The parking lot is monitored by security cameras supposedly, but is ungated and surrounded by the homeless. I was planning on only bringing in a change of clothes for the night, but I brought all my luggage in and dragged it up the stairs because I fully expected the window to be smashed and the luggage stolen if I left it out there. I figured they could do what they want with the rental car, but I didn't want my luggage stolen. They were watching, so they knew exactly where we were parked and what we had with us. This is not a hotel as advertised, it's a motel. The room is tiny and not at all like the pics. There is no room for luggage so I put ours in the closet. There is no central air, just a unit on the wall that rattled all night. The shower is what you would find in a mobile home. There is no room service or anywhere to eat breakfast. They provided a Keurig machine. The bed was small and creaky and uncomfortable. If you roll over in the middle of the night, it sounds like the bed is about to collapse and is loud enough to wake the dead. By morning, we were exhausted and sore. My wife woke me up at 7:00 AM and said she needed to get out of there. Ordinarily, I would say that if you know what to expect and want to save money for a night, then go for it. But it really isn't even that cheap. There are certainly much better options for just slightly more. If this was $80 CAD instead of $180 CAD, then maybe you would want to put up with this for a night, especially if you're a man traveling solo. But the pricing is insane for what it is. And in our case, we weren't at all prepared for what we found Hopefully, this review will help prepare others.

The place is not as it looks in the photos. Is really small, old, furniture not always functional and is really noisy. Besides is located in Hastings strees, which right now if dangerous in Vancouver. Besides all that they changed us an additional night with no pisible refund, despite requesting it for months. I would not recommend staying here. Beds are awful, the safe does not work, look for a better option and in a better area.

Just pay the extra and go somewhere else, not a nice experiance. Be warned if you stay on a weekend the far end of the hotel is above a nightclub. Our room vibrated with base till the early hours on both Friday and Saturday night resulting in very little sleep. This cost us over $600 and it’s just not acceptable. There was no prior notice to use that there would be noise and a vibrating room. When we checked into our room there was a notice saying “you may hear some noise and music”. We literally could not have a conversation in our room and might as well if had our bed on the dance floor beneath us. The photos make the place look better than it is. The floors were very dirty in not so hard to reach areas. The area the hotel is situated in was rather rife with homeless and open drug use. Staff were friendly.

The reviews on booking.com made me laugh… so did the photos of this hotel. They are not an accurate description of this place. We did not see a dining area and there are no outdoor umbrella clad tables … From downtown you drive through or around the homeless encampment. We were given the room next to the bar - soooo loud you could feel the music through the wall. We did not enter the room, instead switched to another room. The room was fine, the bed was really old and had low spots. The bright spot was the staff. Helpful. Seems the place was full with happy people- maybe attending the attached bar? We stayed 2 nights pre-cruise. I read reviews and looked at photos- makes me wary using these tools to make decisions.

The room was incredibly small. In fact, it was smaller than our room on the cruise ship we boarded 2 days later. The building seemed old but everything in the room seemed new or newly redone and was clean. Nearby areas resulted in some sketchy people walking by on the street and on the bus, but the front door is access controlled. The homeless are encamped tightly in a several block area about a mile away on the same street as you get truly into downtown. The location is very convenient though. There is a grocery store across the street and a little more than a $ store on the next block and a great breakfast place 2 blocks away. 3 or more bus routes stop right outside the door very frequently so it's easy to get around in Vancouver. We took the bus downtown and to the park and also the Little Italy area, which I would recommend. I would give the hotel a five star rating if the room were not sooooo small and also did not have an elevator and the pillows were crummy. It's not a place for everybody (my wife had to get adjusted) but I had no problems and it was the most reasonably priced place we could find in Vancouver.
