We were here for just two nights prior to another trip. The location is perfect for a quick look around of the city. Walking distance to the waterfront and to the Hop on Hop off buses. Room clean, the concierge level had a nice selection of food and drinks available. Breakfast there was great. The on site restaurant has a very limited menu.…
We stayed at this hotel after an exhausting day with delayed flights prior to a cruise. The front desk staff were wonderful and welcoming! They wanted to ensure we would enjoy our one night stay. And we did! This is a beautiful, historic hotel! We enjoyed both the lounge and restaurant. We highly recommend the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver!…
I stayed at this hotel for just one night as part of a Canadian road trip from Vancouver to Calgary - please see my other reviews. There were four people in our party and we flew with Air Canada from London. We were supposed to go back to the Hyatt Regency for one night again after going to Vancouver Island for two nights, before moving onto our next destination, but due to some strike action at the hotel we were put up here for the night instead. It was literally just across the road from the Hyatt, so just as well located. This was a beautiful hotel and the rooms were particularly nice - the room was large with a great sized bathroom that had a walk-in shower. It had a mini bar plus other snacks available, but we were told to be careful that we didn’t touch anything we didn’t want, as they were connected to a sensor - so you could end up getting charged even if you didn’t actually use anything if you weren’t careful! One complaint I would have about this hotel was that there didn’t appear to be enough people on check-in, as it seemed to take ages, plus we were charged for parking when we didn’t actually have a car at that point, so we had to get that taken off the bill! Otherwise, a good night’s stay! …
We had two nights here on return from Victoria and before going on the Rocky Mountaineer. This is one of three Fairmonts within a c10 minute walk - the others being basically on the Waterfront. This is a fine old, iconic building which does easily stand out. We were offered and took an upgrade to Gold service for $50 a night + tax which gave us a 14th floor room and access to the Gold service lounge. Think it was Chloe on reception who was very helpful. Room 1406 was a large well appointed, re-furbed bedroom with a city view. We used the Gold Service lounge on a few occasions - very nicely furnished - breakfast and the snacks and 'afternoon tea' were ok but nothing special. About a 10 minute downhill walk to the waterfront where there is plenty to see and do - lovely views and great photo opportunities - needless to say loads of eateries. On our two evenings we ate at the close to hotel Cactus Club - very busy at all times and popular with locals and very good. The lady concierge was very helpful, recommending one of the two 'Hop on Hop off' buses. Think she looks after Canine Ambassador Ella (golden labrador) who was on duty. At a guess there are three entrances to the hotel but think probably only one is step free so it could be a struggle with cases. You can get a taxi at the back entrance. An enjoyable stay.…
Comfortable, elegant, traditional hotel in the best part of Vancouver. To give you an idea: lobby level shops include Dior, Gucci, and Vuitton. I am very glad I stayed here, and would happily stay here again. Management pictures of rooms, public spaces on the hotel web site are accurate. Quiet, serene, classy throughout. Decent 24-hour gym with small but effective sauna; heated pool. Excellent service; superior housekeeping. Couple of tips: Breakfast buffet is a bit pricey but really good, and probably no more than eating anywhere else in the area. Easy walking distance to the seawall and Stanley Park; takes about 30 minutes through a lovely neighborhood. Starbucks about 2 blocks away (811 Hornby Street) opens at 5:30 AM. Large drug and beauty store next door to hotel open until midnight. Walking distance to many fine restaurants in the immediate area. Try Joey Burrard; Earl's Test Kitchen; Cardero's (on the seawall), and Tavola. Advisory: Vancouver is beautiful but quieter than I expected for a city its size. Restaurants, including room service, seem to close around 11 PM even on weekends. If you're hungry after 11 PM, there's an A&W (tasty fast food sandwiches and breakfast items) about 2 blocks away (open 24 hours) at 1158 Alberni St. Just because you can afford the Fairmont doesn't mean you can't appreciate a $4 egg and bacon sandwich after midnight!…
