The apartments are some of the best equipped we have ever stayed in. There was even a washing machine and tumble drier so as we were leaving Vancouver to go home we did all our washing and came home with a clean suitcase full of clothes. There was a small terrace where we could sit out. The bus stop was round the corner with a bus every 10minutes downtown. Lovely walks around the bay and through Stanley Park. Excellent breakfast. Very pleased. Supermarkets and restaurants 10 minute walk.

Our family (2 adults and 2 children, 14 and 11 years) were fortunate to stay at this incredible short stay appt when we had an extended stay in Vancouver in Dec 2022 and we highly recommend Lord Stanley Suites. General Manager Eva and the team were amazing, the downtown Denman location is wonderful and the view is spectacular. The appts are well appointed, modern and very spacious. Highly recommend, and very grateful for such an amazing stay. Thank you. Johnson Family, Western Australia

We stayed at Lord Stanley for a family wedding. We were so happy with the suite! We loved that we had access to a full kitchen and laundry. We also were lucky enough to get a room facing Stanley Park and it was absolutely breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend a stay at Lord Stanley Suites, location was amazing! Thank you to the wonderful staff.

I have stayed at the Lord Stanley Suites Hotel with my family, including (now) two young children, every summer for five of the last six years. Although this all suites hotel was probably designed with extended stay or business travelers in mind, we have found it to be perfect for our annual family vacation to Vancouver, B.C.

Each suite has a full kitchen, washer & dryer, and is divided into several little rooms, including a bedroom, office, and solarium. We can put the kids to bed on one of the rooms and enjoy the fabulous views of the harbor.

The location is unbeatable in the summer — just steps from Stanley Park and walking distance from its aquarium, beaches, and large outdoor children's pool. Bike rentals are just a block away. Nearby Denman Street is a restaurant paradise including several kid-friendly places.

The hotel is quite comfortable and a good value, so don't expect a lot of luxury services. The hotel has a modest exercise room and free continental breakfast, but is fairly minimalist as far as amenities. The desk staff is helpful but not really a concierge. If you arrive by car, parking is conveniently located in the basement. The property is nearly 10 years old, and could probably use a fresh coat of paint here and there.

Some reviewers thought the hotel was too hot. My guess is that was an isolated occurrence because we've not found that to be a problem in the 5 summers we we've stayed there. Instead, we have found the Lord Stanley to be a excellent base for our annual family vacation to Vancouver.

Four of us spent 3 nights in one of the presidential suites (2 bedroom) at the Lord Stanley in late October 2002.

The Lord Stanley is located very close to the harbor and one entrance to Stanley Park. There are many very nice restraurants, stores and shops near by - these are the primary reasons we decided to stay there.

The rooms are small but comfortable and well appointed. There is a washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, full sized stove/oven, gas fireplace, and microwave in the suites. The 2 bathrooms were large - linens were standard, hotel - towels were nothing special either - standard hotel quality.

We had heard from others that the air conditioning is not good during the summer - in fact it gets very uncomfortable in the rooms. We probably would not stay there in the summer because of that. Not all the rooms have windows that open so the only air would be provided by a circulating fan that is in the rooms.

There is daily housekeeping service (late in the day). Both bedrooms were good sized. There is an enclosed office/sitting rooms for each bedroom and several balonies with wonderful views of the city and harbor. We were on the Alberni Street side and it gets alot of commuter traffic and can be noisy even 14 stories up.

We found the hotel staff to be very pleasant and helpful.

We would definitely stay there again - in fact we plan to next spring.

Four people is the maximum I would suggest even in the 2 bedrooms suites - mainly because everything is small(ish) and compact sized and any more people (or small children) would feel overcrowded.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in July 2004 and were very glad to leave. The rooms are adequate, with good facilites which even included a washing machine. The location was good too - just on the edge of Stanley Park. However, we were overwhelmed by the heat in the rooms. The huge glass windows created a 'greenhouse effect' and the small air cooler in the lounge did not reduce the temperature at all. The outside temperate was 25c, so the problems must only get worse as the temperatures increase in the height of summer. We were unable to sleep both nights and compared to other similar hotels we stayed in the lack of air con was unacceptable.

A small but compact suite with office area ,kitchen, and small seating area overlooking the harbour.Lovely views but the heat in the room was unbelievable. The air conditioning unit in the room was tempermental and the windows would only open so far but the noise from the traffic and the never ending sirens meant which was worse noise or heat?Clean and nicely decorated complete with washing machine and dryer it was like home.More suited to a business person than a family of four. The complimentary breakfast was good and the croissants were fantastic.Only 15 mins walk from stanley park.

I am a real old hand at the Lord Stanley...have stayed there 8 or 9 times since it opened in 1998. I used to be a big fan of the place, but have noted in recent stays that the quality of the place is slipping a bit. I think it may be due to the former manager, Ellen, leaving. Carpets are now very stained and tired, and the feel of the public spaces is getting a bit worn. Front desk staff are definitely deteriorating in their helpfulness...on a recent phonecall to book another stay, I was dealt with incredibly brusquely. So much so, in fact, that I have been looking around for somewhere else to take my business to...a shame, because it has quite a lot going for it, and some of the views are real knock-outs!

This is one of the nearest, reasonably priced hotels to Stanley Park, and that alone makes it a wonderful place to stay IMHO. If you enjoy urban exlploring but need a natural refuge nearby to recharge/reconnect, then this is an excellent option.

It's not really a full service hotel, but somewhere between that and a vacation rental. The front desk service is very friendly and helpful, but also intentionally limited.

They have a website which accurately depicts the rooms. I can understand why another reviewer called them small, but for me the suite layout seemed spacious nonetheless.

I'm not sure if every room has a balcony, but I enjoyed having one. Some of the views are spectactular.

Again, just be sure you understand what you're getting into with the Lord Stanley: what it does, it does well...but it is NOT a full service hotel.

My wife and I were recently visiting the lovely Vancouver and made reservations for the Lord Stanley Suites.
Having read some not so nice reviews we were skepticle at first but decided to give it a shot...and we're so glad we did!!
The hotel is situated so close to Stanley Park that we could hear the ducks ;-)
As for the suites, well they are cozy for sure...not sure if they would be suitable for more than two people ( which we were )so it was fine, the internet was very slow though and the telephones were a little dodgy ( worked sometimes...Concierge said they were in midst of being replaced so we gave the benefit of the doubt)
Speaking of the Concierge there, David was his name and this gentleman was AMAZING!
We weren't sure of the city and the things "Vancouverites enjoy" but David let us know IN DETAIL what and where to be,
His personality and attention to ourselves as well as other guests we saw him dealing with was unbelievable...a real draw to coming back to this hotel for sure!
The rest of the staff were also quite friendly but David definitely made an impresssion.
There aren't too many extra's with the hotel, a small gym and average continental breakfast are a part of the rate...but the breakfast isn't much on variety.
Still our stay was more than adequate and we look forword to visiting your lovely city again.

You can contact them directly and request a lower floor. They are very nice to deal with. I would let them know that they were highly recommended.

Our windows do offer a view from anywhere you may sit in the living room. No need to stand directly in front of them if you're a little uncomfortable with heights. Our property is only 14 stories tall, if that's of any comfort. Thank you, David A.-General Manager

Not sure but just around the corner from the hotel there is a bus stop which takes you to the main LRT station in a few minutes and you can go from there
Answer from Wendy K

The Canada Line is Vancouver’s new rapid transit rail link connecting Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to downtown Vancouver and Richmond. With the new Canada Line, it only takes 25 minutes from the airport to City Centre Station. Then transfer onto a Northbound bus (#250/#240 get off on Denman Street) or take a taxi (around $7.00 - $ 10.00) to our front door. Visit translink to plan your route.
