Quite centrally located although unfortunately also almost in the central drug and homeless district. Very friendly, reliable and always quiet and steady "hostel-father" Joe, a real "Canadian bear" ! Rooms only for the basics, no shelves, no possibilities to stow things. The weak point is the shower, a bit mold, even on the tiles where it would be easy just...

I wouldn't go here if you are used to fancy hotels but if you are after somewhere cheap and easy to get to downtown it's fine! The staff are really friendly and helpful which makes a big difference. We stayed in both a private room and dorm and they were both fine compared to a lot of hostels. There are...

I flew into Vancouver from Toronto, with a reservation. When I went to check in I was informed they had given my room away. I had cancelled an earlier resovation, but rebooked. The girl at the counter gave me 2 print outs of the same cancelation email and tried to convince me they were for each of my reservations, despite...

I strongly recommend anyone who is Even considering to Stay in this 'Hostel' to pay a Little bit more and Book one far away from that place! My friend And I stayed there for three nights until we changed to another hostel. It seemed like we were the only females in the whole building. Apart from that the kitchen didn't...

Me and a friend of mine stayed about 1 month in this cheap but great hostel. Joe offered us a discount for one month to pay only 440 CAD each. Thats a perfect rent, if you think about this place which is only 10 mins walk close by Downtown. Some people stay here for more than one month as well,...

If your skin reacts to bug bites then I do not recommend staying at this hostel. There are bugs (and mice for that matter) everywhere- which the staff lie about to the customers- and the bits leave marks that scar and the scar last for months all over your legs. I had less bug bites covering my legs sleeping in...

Alaska is expensive, and I have enjoyed the hospitality of hostels to cut costs. Not bad at all. Part of my last trip involved a stay in Vancouver, one of the most expensive cities in North America. Hotels are about $300/nite, so I opted for the C & N Backpackers. It's certainly not the Ritz, but has all the necessary...

My friend I stayed in c&n hostel because we had to wake up very early to a pickup point in Chinatown. We stayed in a private room which was a room with a queen size bed, tv, sink. The room looked ok and the bed was made quite neat; however, the whole floor smelled so bad that I almost threw...

There are absolutely no redeeming features about this hostel, aside from if you are lucky you might meet similarly disgruntled travellers and have a good laugh at what an appalling hostel this is. The rooms are dingy, small and uncomfortable, cleanliness is not high on the agenda here with insufficient showers/bathrooms for the amount of guests. Worse than the ridiculously...

We booked this hostel for the location, as we were arriving very late and didn't want to travel too far in the dark. So the location for us was ideal! The man on the front desk was very friendly and chatty which made us feel more at ease. When we got into our room though it was quite dirty and...

Staying in Yaletown & False Creek North

Neighbourhood Profile
Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.
