Neighbourhood
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.

My mother and I had a great time staying at this unique and beautiful place. Our loft room was attractive with comfortable beds and beautiful art. I slept so very well. If the weather had not been so unusually pleasant for winter, we could have stayed in the hotel without

This little boutique hotel is a gem. It is Native owned and mostly Native staffed with wonderful Northwest Coast Art everywhere. I stayed in the Sea Kingdom Suite which was decorated in blues and greens with leaping salmon, canoe paddles and carvings of marine animals.

Dear Marie, Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay. Guestst need not worry about our neighbourhood, although at times the optics can be disconcerting. Since working in the Downtown Eastside I have learned to love the community feel of our location and to appreciate it's proximity to Chinatown(1/2 block), Gastown(2 blocks) and the Skytrain station (Chinatown/Stadium) with quick access to YVR so feel free to explore and enjoy all that our diverse neighbourhood has to offer. Come back and see us, soon.

A last minute flight cancellation allowed me the chance to check out the Skwachàys Lodge and Hotel that I have heard rave reviews from colleagues of mine. The Skwachàys is not a far walk from the waterfront station, and close to Gastown and Chinatown. The neighbourhood seemed a

I can tell you that we did not hear a peep from the other rooms. Honestly, the street noise was more than tolerable with all windows to the street open. As in any major city you get street noise, however we never found it intrusive. I hope my review helped in your search for nirvana!

How far is this hotel from the cruise ship port?
Or I did Uber around Vancouver. Much cheaper than taxi. For $5 I was able to travel cross town.

Yes you can have a smudge room and sweat lodge experience - there is a cost to this . The best thing to do is to send a email to the hotel and find out what current rates are. If there are only 2 of you they maybe able to put you with others which reduces the cost. I stayed there for 3 nights and September and loved the hotel.
