This place is amazingly located, gastown the coolest area in vancouver, the hostel has a pub downstairs... Party vibe! Thin walls .. When someone slams a door you d hear from another room! Old building, wood noisy floor.... But 2 stars for bed bugs in some rooms, and is not accettable after many complains those still in some rooms!

I have stayed in numerous hostels in Vancouver as a solo traveller and would say that the Cambie gastown was by far the best. It is a hostel so I wasn't expecting much more than a bed to crash on, and that's all I really got, a sweaty room with strangers. However I'd recommend this place just because of the...

4 of us came here on a tight budgeted business trip. The bar was so loud we couldn't sleep, in addition to the sweltering hot rooms. The beds were super cheap and the bathrooms were full of cockroaches! To top off a mostly terrible stay, the wi-fi was unusable.

Stayed with my sister for a couple of nights. Room was clean, warm and the beds comfy. Bathrooms clean - a bit small though. The kitchen was TINY with only one fridge. It wasn't really possible to have more than one person using it which I felt was not very practical for a backpackers. The staff were super friendly and...

We didn't stay in the hostel, just stopped by the bar on our last night in town. Seemed like a pretty fun environment and drinks were reasonably priced. Met some pretty interesting people (which is basically the best part of a hostel bar). Chill place, I'd go back!

The place was not pretty at all, but I figured it was ok as long as it was clean because the price was good, but woke up in the middle of the night being eaten alive by bed bugs in my mattress!! The guy at the front desk didn't seem very surprised when I told him and he did give...

This is a hostel w mostly youth on their first foreign adventures. If you haven't taken a more affordable travel option in years then keep that in mind. Take a nap break in the heat if the day, expect to stay up a little later - 2 or 3 am - and get writing done or plan your next day....

Very basic, felt like I was at school again It was way too hot in the rooms and a fan wasn't provided either, which I have always been given in other hostels. The showers are also see through which is a terrible design flaw. Overall the stay was alright I really liked the free breakfast as well as the downstairs...

The only good thing about this hostel is the location. You can walk everywhere or just rent a bike. No public transport needed. But the rooms and common areas are too old. Beside that it was ok, it was clean.

Bathrooms are well-maintained and pleasant. Excellent shower pressure and enough hot water for a satisfying rinse, but the stalls are VERY tight for space. Bring flip flops! Rooms are also tight. (4 person). Lots of squeezing and stepping over suitcases. I would highly suggest earplugs and a mask at night. The music from the bar downstairs shook the walls until...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
