What you see in line is not what you get if you are unlucky and get a room in this dank moldy basement. We booked this for a four day writers getaway. We had to getaway after one night. We had to negotiate a refund and one received 1 day refund. The owner told us Vancouver is damp and smells. She made excuses for the smell, the uncomfortable bed (no box spring she said good mattresses don't need one) she minimized every complaint and wrote me a nasty email when she erroneously believed I posted a negative review online. I have called Vancouver health department because of respiratory distress and poor air quality in the basement.

Fay I continuously strive to provide the very best environment for my guests and I am sorry to hear that you do not feel that I have attained that goal. If you check the other reviews on Trip Advisor, the vast number of my guests are very happy with my B&B. You should remember that I stated that Vancouver is very humid. I would never make a comment that Vancouver smells as this is just not the case. I am sorry that you felt that I minimized every complaint as I was merely trying to explain my side of your statements. You, in fact, did post a negative review online. This one is actually the second one that you placed. Most of my guests feel the bed is comfortable. I reiterate that most beds do not use a box spring as it is just not necessary. I wish you kind regards, Joanne

We had a lovely stay with Joanne who was very welcoming and full of knowledge about the local area which was really helpful. The breakfast was great with a choice of continental or cooked each day. We stayed in a downstairs room and our family in the upstairs. Both were comfortable and we all felt really welcome. The location is in a quiet neighborhood about 30 minutes by bus to downtown. If I could add one constructive feedback point it's that it would be good to let guests know if the zen garden is unavailable in case they are looking forward to using it as this could lead to disappointment as the photos are so appealing.

Thanks Kris I am happy that you enjoyed staying at my B&B. I enjoyed having you and your family stay at my place. I hope you will be able to visit again. Actually, on my website and in your confirmation email I did state : "Limited outdoor space may be available in 2019 due to construction of a laneway house.". Kind Regards, Joanne

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this B&B and the 2nd time was just as nice as the 1st. The house is conveniently located and our hostess Joanne was friendly and accommodating. We will stay there again on our next visit.

come to this House on Dunbar. The very congenial Joanne will welcome you into her beautiful home, which will quickly become your home away from home, as she so freely shares it, giving access to so many parts of it. The way it's set up, you could stay for months! The lower level has a full kitchen (stove, fridge, dishwasher, dishes, cutlery and more), large living and dining area and even larger big screen tv, with sliding glass doors out to a patio equipped with a gas bbq. Her quiet, well kept backyard beckons after a busy day, the perfect place to reflect on the day's experiences with a glass of wine (stop at the nearby liquor store). The private 2010 Suite upstairs is very comfortable, with plenty of space for 2, a closet and dresser should you want to unpack. And your very own bathroom too with tub/shower combo and beautiful vanity, and all sorts of toiletries, etc for whatever it is you forgot. Her creative, healthy and hearty breakfasts set you up for the day; her helpful inquisitive nature encourages conversation about your upcoming day, yet she politely keeps her distance so as not to intrude. This was exactly what we needed for this trip and exactly what we got. Our daughter had just moved into the neighbourhood, we came to help get her settled. Joanne let our daughter visit us inside her home too. Both homes are located in a lovely residential area, great for walks, close to coffee shops and restaurants, with bus stops nearby too. We booked direct with Joanne from her website. She was very accommodating to our needs and let us check in early too. Good idea to take indoor shoes/slippers too - there's tile throughout her home, which, while withstanding the rigours of visitors dragging their luggage up down and all around, is a little hard and cool on feet.
