This motel was built in the 50s and still has well maintained period kitchens with mahogany cabinets and most of bath fixtures. I'm not sure how they're able to keep everything so perfect. The room is huge, the king bed current and comfortable. Each room has a full wall of windows, a balcony, and ocean view. I was provided with a key to the garage so I could lock up my bicycle. Best place in Victoria!

What a delight. Located near the cruise ship terminal every room has a full unobstructed ocean view. This hotel is walking distance to downtown Victoria and all it has to offer. A bit noisy due to proximity to road however well worth it. There is no air conditioning however the sea breeze takes care of it. There is no lobby bar. Breakfast is a 3 minute walk down the seawall. This is a vintage 60' s hotel and should not be missed.

We've travelled a lot. This lovely little motel (18 rooms) ranks in our top 3. It is the cleanest place you'll ever stay in. The lady at check-in was amazing. So funny and very efficient. It's an old accommodation but kept up so well. They don't have an ice machine - she will give you trays of ice for your adorable little freezer. The elevator is just big enough to hold my husband's mobility scooter. They showed us how to stop it so we could fit in all our stuff then on our way. All the rooms overlook the ocean and the cruise ship terminal provides a lovely view. Can't say enough good things!

This is a nice place to stay in Victoria. The location is great, as all the rooms face the water, and is it only a short walk to downtown. The service is friendly and hilarious. The rooms are clean, and decorated in retro style (pink toilet and tub!). Also, the prices are very reasonable, compared to the downtown hotels.

The only drawbacks are these. First, when I stayed, the weather was unseasonably warm and the rooms heated up a lot. There is no AC in the room, although they do provide a fan. Second, there is no restaurant, although there is a nice place to eat on the water just a block away.

Booking a room, planning our arrival, settling in and finding a place for breakfast nearby was all made easy and pleasant thanks to Lesley's friendly and attentive approach. A perfect landing spot on arrival, jet-lagged but excited to start our holiday. The motel was recommended by a local friend and we loved it. Hope we get a chance to visit again soon.

I really liked the Surf Motel. Not only is it a design classic that has been really well preserved, it’s also very well run. The decor in my room was dated, for sure, but it added to the charm and it was and spotlessly clean. The kitchen also came in useful. Wi-Fi was pretty decent and the sea view was awesome.

It’s an easy 15 min walk into town, with shops, restaurants and pubs along the way.

Only drawback was the noisy floor above me - it sounded like stilettos walking on glass the whole time.

I am staying at the Surf Motel on Dallas Road in Victoria, BC. I want to mention that it is the nicest Motel I have ever been in. It is beautifully maintained and has an atmosphere of a traditional motel. It is right by the ocean so the view is quite impressive. I hope I rated The Surf properly. I give this motel a 5 out of 5. And, the rates are more than reasonable.

With travel restrictions in place, we decided to try a local gem, long been on our radar. What a great idea! The Surf experience was beyond expectations; we are already set to book our next “getaway” in our own city. Friendly reception, immaculate room, great view and close to everything that makes Victoria a great destination!

First, the pro's: nice enough motel, staff was friendly and helpful. Outstanding view from the room. Bathroom was spotless and looked to be fairly recently re-done. Located in a neighborhood of older homes, many of which are being/have been restored, so if you enjoy strolling through those types of areas, then that's a plus for you, and the downtown/shopping areas can be reached on foot.

And the con's: as another reviewer mentioned, the city busses are noisy. Stayed a Saturday and Sunday, and as of 10 pm Saturday the busses were still going strong, every 10 minutes or so. Who knows how late they run? Thankfully, I feel asleep. Sunday was not a problem at all. The seagulls make a crazy racket starting way too early and going for an hour, then they seemed to quiet down. So consider packing a pair of earplugs. Mattresses are worn out; they dip quite a bit in the middle, and the blankets are the thin polyester type that don't breathe well.

I just did more checking for you and the Days Inn and the Huntingdon Manor both allow pets. They are all in a similar area around the harbour and walking distance along the waterfront path (David Foster Walkway) that will lead you to the dog leash free zones. Hope that helps.

Morning. Google map shows Prestine Drycleaner & Laundromat at 255 Menzies Street. I never used this business but it does appear to be walking distance, maybe 15 blocks. Hope you enjoy Victoria.
