The hotel is wonderful and the service is top notch. However, I don't recommend eating in their dining room. There is very little choice on the menu and what we did have we did not enjoy. One meal was returned because it was inedible.

Hotel's Favourite
What a lovely afternoon of high tea with my daughters. The service was impeccable. We started our tea with menu boxes. They showed all the tea options with a few tea leaves for a visual. The tea warmer was a nice touch to keep the tea hot. The desserts were not too sweet and the live pianist made it that more special. We loved the replica Queens porcelain set. We loved the Empress tea which was Princess Diana's favourite. You can go to the gift shop and purchase most of the items from high tea. It is on the upper end of what high tea is charged but I would highly recommend.

Great place to escape and relax. Beautiful interior design in the rooms and common areas, excellent food and drinks, excellent swimming pool and gym facilities. The Gold Lounge is incredible. Highly recommend.

Exceptional from check-in to check-out. Professional friendly staff, beautiful hotel and facilities. I’ve been before and I’ll be back many times in the future. Will in the Q Bar was one of the best servers I’ve had, he went above and beyond.

If you want a hotel that is truly special, choose the Empress. This is a beautiful, historic hotel in the most enviable location in Victoria, on the inner harbour and kitty corner to the Parliament buildings. The views over the harbour from the hotel’s public spaces are gorgeous. I stayed in a City View 1 Queen on a business trip for one night. The room was beautifully decorated. The one downside was that it was quite small with next to no counter space in the bathroom. If I’d been on vacation I would have booked a harbour view room. Still, I loved staying in such an iconic hotel and the location couldn’t be better.

High tea was amazing!!! Rooms and bathroom a bit small but clean and served it's purpose. Staff were excellent, knowledgeable about the hotel, services offered, and gave good tips about things to do and places to eat.

amazing accommodations that catered to my every need! including providing workout attire (that I forgot to pack) so that I could get in a quick workout before attending a conference that was hosted at the convention center attached to the hotel...

We took a Signature Harbour View suite which was a disappointment. First I had to change our room because despite the fact it came with two tiny bathrooms neither had a bathtub. When I take a suite I expect to have a large bathroom. The bedroom was huge and clean with a comfortable bed but the bathroom was minute. The sitting room had a large uncomfortable sofa facing the door as you came in with its back to the window and the expensive view. The rooms are furnished fairly tastelessly. For such a huge hotel the reception was understaffed and required queuing for check in and check out. I could see the advantage of taking a gold room with separate check in facilities. We were also astonished to not be able to get a cup of coffee anywhere in the hotel at 11am except in our room. The Empress Lounge only serves afternoon tea bizarrely between 11am and 2pm. The gloomy bar serves coffee but only from 11.30 am. The staff were friendly and helpful but they seem to be understaffed.

Beautiful building and grounds. Best location on harbour, by museum, centre of Victoria, near good restaurants and cafes. Superb tea! On site restaurant and bar have great food, wine and ambiance. Rooms are beautifully appointed. Nice boutiques and shops on site and as always impeccable Fairmont Service!
