The room was lovely: spacious, clean and comfortable and with a kitchen as well as a bathroom, the staff are very friendly and it's very well located. BUT unless you are a party animal prepared to keep going until the small hours then don't even think about it. The rooms are above a pub that has live music most nights and there is no sound proofing. On the Saturday night the music was excessively loud as were the bar customers, until after 1 o' clock in the morning making it impossible to sleep even with earplugs. This meant we were very tired on the Sunday, which spoiled our day, and we couldn't get an early night on Sunday because of the bar noise again, although it wasn't as loud or as late on the Sunday. It's quite pricey anyway, even without the noise, but to be charged so much & then be bombarded with noise all night was quite unacceptable. Oh, and the TV didn't work either so we couldn't even watch a film. We won't stay here again - there are lots more places in the downtown area.…
We had a room directly above the pub, and there is zero sound insulation. We could hear conversations and loud music anytime the pub was open. It's so loud, it's as if you're in the pub. On the weekends, we didn't fall asleep until 1am because that's when the music stops. Totally unacceptable for a hotel room. For the price paid per night, we wish we had stayed somewhere different. The room was okay and clean, but dated, and the noise from the pub made it completely unacceptable. Also, no onsite parking and very limited amenities. Not worth the price.
A few things there must be a timer on the hot water because after a short amount of time the water cools off but 10 minutes late it’s hot again. No window in the second bedroom. Was hot and stuffy. Next they had the wrong remote for the tv and it didn’t work we called and left a message the first night we were there but received no message or help back. Then when we went out we said we thought it needed batteries. Replaced them the tv still did not work. The man working the front desk seemed to think we should fix the situation ourselves!!! At $500.09 a night maybe they could have looked after the problem. Even though this hotel is in a great location the service was sub par and if I’m going to fix something myself it’s in my home not the hotel I’m staying in.
Fantastic location close to everything in the central town. Rooms were massive on 2 floors with huge comfortable bed. The adjoining brewery was a great bonus serving a massive selection of ales and good food. Delightful staff. Would highly recommend and great value for money.
I loved the atmosphere at the Swans. I had one of the loft rooms which was great when you don't want to be living on your bed. My room had a full kitchen as well so this would be a great place for a longer term stay. Plenty of room and all the amenitites. If you are a super light sleeper, you might hear noises from the street or if there is an event at one of the restaurants on the ground floor, but it's not super loud - just sort of background sounds.
A lovely dog-friendly boutique hotel. We had a large corner room with city views on the second floor. It was easy to take the dogs out for breaks. We enjoyed the bar downstairs for drinks. Just around the corner is Chinatown & it’s a short walk to downtown Main Street/Marina.
It is just a must do stop to fit Swans Brewpub into our schedule while in Victoria..their craft beer is very much a top quality product and the friendly welcoming sets the atmosphere for one of their high quality delicious hamburgers... what a delight to have such a restaurant available...
Great little pub in downtown Victoria. Rooms are a little dated but comfortable. Parking is average as it's in open air non secured areas.family rooms are not really suitable for smaller children are they have a big staircase that leads to the bedrooms. Apart from this it is alright
Great stay. 1 bedroom loft. Lots of room. Great view of the inner harbor. This hotel is a hidden gem right above a nice pub and walking distance to some great food. We are locals and will return for sure.
Chef Bob designs a weekly sandwich and today's stood out. "Corned beef and kimchi" was amazing and the subtle accents within each bite such as crunch from the carrot made this establishment a must see for anyone in the area.
