Travelling with friends from the US, we arrived on a Sunday in Victoria BC late afternoon, didn't realise it was a major bank holiday on the Monday (Victoria Day!!), so accommodation was all booked up. We drove around eventually coming across this little gem off the main road where we stayed for 2 nights - recently renovated, it was quite a find, not too expensive (~£65 per room per night). Exceptionally clean and roomy with a sitting area with sofa, TV and small table. There was also a kitchen area with large fridge freezer but this was extra cost so we didn't use it. However, my main moans were that even though we didn't want to pay extra for the kitchen, it would have been nice to have had a kettle and a couple of cups to make some coffee/tea in the morning; also there were no little extras like sachets of shampoo, body lotion, shower gel - they only provided 2 tiny bars of soap - and no hairdryer was provided. We've travelled all over the world, staying in many hotels/motels and B&Bs, and this is the first time there's been no hairdryer. I would certainly recommend this motel to anyone who doesn't want to be right in the centre of Victoria (just a short car drive away) but make sure you take those little "extras" with you - and your hairdryer!

I had driven past this hotel about a hundred times but had always dismissed it as a dump. Then I saw it was under new management. It also had good rates. I thought I had nothing to lose so I stayed there last weekend. The new management had painted and fixed all the common areas. The rooms had been freshened up and were very pleasant. The staff were both helpful and friendly at the front desk. The room was large and had two king sized beds. The hotel was central and close to shopping and downtown. There was good inside and outside parking at no additional charge. It was a very pleasant stay. I have booked again in July. Don't let the outside fool you. If you want a good room in a hotel that is well located at a reasonable rate you will enjoy a stay at the Mayfair.

We only overnighted, but this was all that we needed. It does not look like much from the outside but really is a great retro hotel, and the rooms are spacious with a kitchen area that was handy for serving up our take out supper. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Although the hotel was fully booked the night of our stay, we did not hear the other guests. Location wise, it is right across the street from the Mayfair Shopping center

This 4 story "motel" is likely a converted apartment building and therefore has very large studio suites as their standard rooms. Our room was recently painted, with new carpets. Very clean, and the linen and towels were crisp.
My only minor complaint is that the curtains were not thick enough to make the room really dark.
Bonus- full size fridge and kitchen!
Highly recommended for anyone who needs a place to stay in this part of town...near many big malls and stores, and about half way between downtown and the University.

This place is exceptionally clean. Our room was large and comfortable. The owners are very helpful for out of town folks. It is right on the main bus line for downtown, a daypass cost 5.00 (loonies). We will be going back to Victoria because we love the town and this is where we will stay. Ample parking on premises and right across the street from the Mayfair Shopping Center and close to the other big ones in Victoria.
Starbucks around corner and The Ruby has a great breakfast. They are big on broasted chicken

I stayed at the Mayfair during February and March of 2016 and was very pleased with the accommodations, friendly staff and location. The rooms are basic and are very clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities provided. The kitchen was especially convenient, and James and Sheila were always very helpful and gracious. The location is ideal with a large shopping mall across the street, several restaurants and cafes, Lifestyle organic market a 5 minute walk away, bus stops nearby or a pleasant 20 minute walk to the inner harbour. I look forward to my next visit to the Mayfair.

Mayfair Motel
We booked with booking.com. Booking.com has done a GOOD job even now they send a reminder. I like it!

We booked the family suite with 2 double beds and a pull-out sofa for a reasonable rate of $140 +tax/ day.

The pros:
It's in a quiet location.
The room was newly renovated with a basic layout, and everything was clean. It looked similar to a bachelor apartment style. The two double beds were nice to sleep on. The owner/ manager was helpful and talkative.
The motel is not too far from Wall Mart, Tim Horton's, and KFC.

The cons
The 3rd floor WiFi connection was a little bit of a hit and miss.

The pull-out sofa was not good (it was sunk in the middle), and my nephew hardly slept.

I would rate this motel a 4 for its value if they hadn't invaded my privacy in the morning one day.

My family was out, and the manager didn't know that I stayed behind so after one knock, he opened the door. Hmm ....hmm... of course, he was surprised. I told him that I only needed a few items from him. Instead of just handing me those items and leaving, the two cleaning ladies behind him just dashed to clean up the garbage (or possibly snooping?). I even told them "no cleaning" before they began! Additionally, they automatically turned off the lights which I had left on. It was none of their business anyway!

The full kitchen facilities was a conflict, on the booking.com and motel ad it stated "full kitchen" but in the kitchen said another rule - "The stove for monthly guest' use only." I have pictures but don't know how to insert them.

This is an older building, and as we found out, one that rents rooms by the week/month. The photos of the rooms looked good on the various sights like Booking.com and the reviews were very good. This is indeed a very clean hotel. It is obvious that they take pride in the maintenance. New carpeting, new paint, probably the cleanest hotel we've stayed in, better than some of the chains. We only saw a staff member when we checked in. Good sized mall across the street. Rates are much better than downtown which is easily accessed. A very nice, moderate hotel.

Nice spot. Handy to everything. Very clean and roomy. Friendly host. Right next to Hotel Zed. Reasonable and very adequate even though it is an older building. Walking distance to shops and restaurants nearby. Recommended. I would stay here again.

No A/C. Nice big room. Had to pay extra for our child per night after paying almost $250nt. You pay for a kitchenette but not permitted to use. No vending machines. No ice. Best thing I can say about it is it's next to Starbucks. Thank goodness! You are better off staying next door at Hotel Zed. They have Kitchenettes, pool, nice restaurant, bus stops in front, cheaper.
