On 11/18, there was work performed by the city of Victoria DURING THE NIGHT which was not announced in advance to guests until their arrival to the property (this was in addition to the daytime work which the hotel does a stellar job of notifying guests in advance). The work directly faced 3 of the hotel's 4 sides, and measured 55dB in my initial room on a lower level on the side which faced away from the construction and 35 dB on a room in a higher level. While I really appreciated how quickly the nighttime staff worked to move me, I believe the reality was every single guest in the hotel was impacted and had sleep interruptions. Given that this work was not announced to guests before arrival, I'd recommend anyone considering staying here to completely avoid this hotel until all construction in the area is complete.

Excellent stay! Check in was a breeze. Great location. Local transit right out the door and day pass only $5 Was clean, comfortable. Microwave and mini fridge. No charge safe in room. Stocked coffeemaker with tea. Bottled water provided. Large toiletries provided. Front desk staff were great. Would definitely stay here again. TRUE….construction right next door and they start at 7 am sharp and is all quiet at 5 pm. Construction did not bother us. Very pleased with our visit

Perfect hotel for our first few nights recovering from jet lag. Very pleasant, good location and perfect for what we needed. Good city hotel, staff pleasant. We didn’t have breakfast here as opted to go out. We booked a suite which had a separate lounge kitchen area and a balcony.

We stayed for one night to attend a show at a nearby theatre. The check in was awful I found the young man very snippy and unfriendly didn’t explain the hotel services like breakfast etc. He didn’t welcome me as a Hilton Honors Silver member. I found the hotel lobby very small and the parking expensive valet only no choice however there was a parking garage attached and it had upper and lower parking but only for valet. The room itself was small and dated the bathroom was very small. While everything was clean the towels were very thin and rough. Overall I use Hilton whenever we travel and will be skipping this one in future. Overpriced and needing an update. Sorry Hilton

Thank you for choosing DoubleTree for your stay in Victoria and for sharing your feedback. Your comments are well taken. Anything other than a warm welcome is not acceptable. Our Hilton Honors members are our most valued guests and recognition of your status should be a part of of your check-in experience. We are exploring other options for parking - at this time our facilities are not conducive to self-parking and our Valet parking is priced competitively in the city. You raise some valid concerns and we can do better. Regarding the room, our property will be undergoing wholescale room renovations over the next 18 months. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and I do hope we can win back your confidence in the future. Natalie

Ah, the Doubletree by Hilton! I love this brand! Ever since I was introduced to them in Chicago (2012), and again in Toronto (2015), they’ve held a special place in my mind and memory. I don’t know if it’s the friendly staff, the cozy accommodation, or the warm cookie at check-in, but they just appeal to me. Wait, no, it’s probably the cookie ;) In all seriousness, you always get a warm welcome, which means a lot especially after a long day of travel. The Doubletree in Victoria is relatively new (as in, less than a decade old). Hilton took over the old Executive House Hotel and, following a $20 million top-to-bottom renovation, opened in 2015. I think, on the whole, this was a smart purchase by Hilton because the location is extremely central. Guests are just minutes away from Victoria’s iconic Inner Harbour; they can easily amble about Wharf and Government Streets; there are a number of excellent eateries within walking distance (Browns, Ithaka, Nautical Nellies, Little Jumbo, Old Spaghetti, Keg – I could go on); there are a number of notable attractions nearby, including the Empress National Historic Site, Miniature World, Bug Zoo, Royal BC Museum, Legislature, the Vic, and a whole host of others. In short, whether you’re staying for a short time, or a long time, there will always be something to do. Besides the excellent location, the Doubletree also offers a host of services on site: High speed WiFi (which, admittedly, is standard in most hotels these days), in-house dining (Starbucks, Stone Ground Pizza Company, and Bartholomew’s Pub), meeting space, and fitness room. There’s also a cute lil “snack store” available near the check-in desk. The only in-house eatery I made use of during my stay was the Starbucks, which itself was a new addition (opened 2021). For more detail on that, please see my review of same on this site. I checked in kind of late (after 9PM), but still had to wait in line for an inordinate amount of time while the front desk staff dealt with a lady who seemed keen on arguing about a hypothetical scenario in which a stranger enters her room. While the whole exchange was kind of humorous, it highlighted Doubletree’s high level of customer service: Throughout it all, the staff never got frazzled and remained totally respectful. After they finished with her, my check-in process was a breeze. The best part? Getting that signature warm cookie! Anyway, my room was cozy and filled with all the modern amenities we’ve come to expect of most modern hotels: WiFi, charging ports, flatscreen TV, and work desk. I liked the overall design and colour of the room – soft greys, browns and whites. They helped lend to the comfortable feel. Value for money was decent for the typically inflated summer rates @ just over $425 per night. And, hey, if this isn’t enough to convince you that Doubletree is a good property, you might enjoy knowing Paris Hilton recently stayed here on 8 September 2023. Staying true to the brand ;) If I had one complaint, it would simply be their valet/pick-up area is quite small and is easily congested, but that’s not something that can really be helped.

Beautiful hotel! We were upgraded to a suite and our view, from the 16 floor, was amazing. Unfortunately, I don't think that the view will be there too long because of the construction for an office complex was going on right across the street. You could see the entire inlet, not only from the balcony, but just looking out the floor to ceiling windows. Within walking distance from the museum, wonderful restaurants and shopping. The Empress Hotel is right across the street....make reservations for High Tea.......a great experience. Clean, comfortable and VERY quiet (especially with early morning construction). Well appointed with plenty of outlets and USB ports. My only complaint was that there was a half full glass of a drink, missed by housekeeping, left on a shelf. But, still a great hotel. The breakfast buffet was really good. Lots of hot & cold choices.

My wife and I booked this stay through B.C ferry vacations. The Hotel that we booked was for the Double Tree. We checked in later in the evening of Sept 30 to a room with black mold in the shower and what looked like feces splattered on the back of the bathroom door. In the morning I visit the lobby for the complimentary continental breakfast. The host seated me, after eating I was charged 27 dollar's because I had some bacon from the table and that was not included. Today I was going through my credit card statement to find another charge from the hotel. Upon check in they they had told us the the parking was free, but I was charged 27 a day plus taxes for this. The staff at the front deck was discourteous, the room was not at clean. Apart from paying 300 plus a night they offer valet parking and a complimentary breakfast but charge you for both onto your room. I feel like I was taken advantaged of.

Dear Guest, I am sorry to read that you encountered issues with your stay. I would like to respond in the order that you name them. Re: bathroom. This level of cleanliness is completely unacceptable and I apologize for the shortcomings. I did review your folio and there are no notes to indicate this was reported to anyone while you were on property. I wish we could have known and addressed this issue in the moment. Re: breakfast. Breakfast was not included in your stay (continental or otherwise) - your BC Ferries reservations did not include complimentary breakfast. Re: parking. Parking/Valet charges are well advertised, never promoted as being 'free'; again, your BC Ferries reservation did not include parking. Re: charges. The correct amount of $85.05 was billed to your credit card, comprised of 2 nights parking and 1 breakfast charge plus applicable taxes. I am available to further discuss the issues with room cleanliness if you would like to contact me directly at the hotel. I see your review has been posted a few different sites - it is unfortunate that your claims regarding inclusions etc are unfounded. We take guest satisfaction and value for price paid very seriously - it is a shame when someone hops behind a keyboard and seeks to damage a good business' reputation with falsehoods. Natalie

Great location! Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Loved the Starbucks Keurig pods for a easy to make coffee in the morning. The bathroom/shower are one of the nicest I have used. The shower and water pressure was like I was at home. When checking in, you are given a warm and delicious baked cookie! Really enjoyed my stay there and I will be returning. Next time I will have time to enjoy more of what the hotel has to offer.

We had a wonderful stay (2 nights) at the Doubletree Victoria. The hotel is nicely situated - very clean - and great service. The breakfast was above average. The only downside was the large construction project at the front of the hotel.

The location of this hotel is fantastic! It is behind the famous Fairmont Hotel, one block off the waterfront, right in the heart of Victoria. It was easy walking distance to most of Victoria's must-see places. The room itself was on the small side (typical of downtown city hotel rooms) but it was clean and comfortable. We had an ocean/mountain view room which was nice; however, there was construction beginning outside our window which may in the future obstruct the view. We were told about the construction and it did not bother us in any way. The lobby also seemed a little tight, but check in was easy and friendly. You have to use your room key to access the elevators to guest rooms which adds security. There is no self-parking at the hotel; you must use the valet service which is a bit pricey. But the valets were always ready to help and we never waited long for our car. The complimentary breakfast buffet was good -- hot and cold choices -- but again the area for breakfast is quite small. All in all we had a comfortable stay here although the rooms and the parking are pricey. There may be better choices for value, but you can't beat this location.
