We stayed here to escape the heatwave that unexpectedly hit Victoria. We honestly would have stayed anywhere with air con that accepted pets, but what a terrific surprise to discover this little gem of a hotel. The views are exceptional -- inner harbour/outer harbour, you get one or the other in most rooms. The location is fantastic. Walk into town easily. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and solution-driven. There was a mishap with air con in our room -- ironic in a heat wave we were escaping, but there you go. We were moved to another room for one night in the older wing, then moved back to the newer wing the next day. They helped with both moves. By help, I mean the managers moved us and our animals with a luggage cart. Both times. Managerial staff here is very experienced. And it shows! We received very reasonable discounts on our stay for the inconvenience. All the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms in the Erickson wing are what you want to get. Don't even consider not paying the small extra cost -- its completely worth it. They are huge! As are the bathrooms. And newly renovated. You almost get a small living room in the regularly priced rooms. With a great balcony and the view! The older wing (Laurel) needs some love. The rooms are smaller and have old in-window, loud air conditioners. Bathrooms are small etc. More of a motel feel. Ok for one night, but wouldn't do it longer term. Note: there is construction going on at the balcony level -- as it says on their website. From 8-4. If you like to sleep in, the noise might cause some issues. If you're planning to be out all day, it won't affect you. The restaurant is large and has a nice patio. They serve small plates, which I don't really get. You pay the same price as a full plate but you get 1/3 of a serving. It's not really Tapas, which is more about small, cheap plates, so you can try a bit of everything. The price point was high for what was served. IMO, not really worth it for dinner. Breakfast was nice. All in all, a terrific hotel. Maybe a little less known than the bigger places in Vic. But you won't go wrong staying here. Highly recommend it! (Valet parking in a covered garage, too)

Hey Indiana1000, Thanks for such a lovely review, and your glowing praises on our team! I know how unbearable that heatwave was for a little bit - we love that you were able to get away for a bit, and even more so despite that brief glitch that our team was able to rectify that. Your patience was very much appreciated :) Those Erickson Wing rooms are definitely not one to skip - the bathrooms are stunning along with stunning sunsets we've been getting! Soon enough, those flawless balconies will be ready for you to enjoy even further! We do understand that the small plates concept is not for everyone, but I will be sure to share your comments for further development. Glad you were able to enjoy our fabulous breakfast items though :) Stay tuned as our menu does change with seasonality! Thanks once again for such a fantastic detailed review. We can't wait to see you back for a staycation! -Michelle, Guest Experience Agent

We stayed at the hotel towards the end of the COVID-19 pandemic but were still in the restricted phase of room service. As a result we had to ask for supplies such as soap, coffee, shampoo etc.. Even tough they could have seen how long we were staying, and that we gave them a written list, they only gave us one pack of coffee and must have run out of hair conditioner as that never appeared. The room was on the second floor and faced the inner harbor. If we had realized that we needed to specify a higher floor, and one that faced the outer harbor then that would have helped us enjoy the stay. The rooms that overlook the inner harbor are also overlooked by the apartments to the side of the hotel. The patio was very uneven and had trip hazards you needed to be aware of. The bathroom was huge but the shower was very small in comparison with one small shelf on which to store your shower gel, shampoo, etc.. It also floods the floor unless you ensure the door of the shower is pulled inwards which then limits your room to move even more. The bed was comfortable and huge, the A/C worked well, there was an iron and ironing board in the room, and lots of cupboard space. The TV was small, and the room had lost of pottery placed in the room so beware if you have rumbustious children who could easily break them. You park your car underground in a separate car park just across the road from reception and it felt secure. Signage in the hotel is poor and finding your room, and the elevators is your first challenge. We used the Aura restaurant for breakfast and the first time we did was not great. We were told the waiter had made a mistake on our order so was having to be remade. Janis, the director of the restaurant was very apologetic and gave us the breakfast for free which was nice, but even so it took around an hour to arrive. We got the distinct impression that a) the restaurant is too small for the hotel (we had to sit at a table with limited view of anything), b) they are very understaffed and we witnessed waiters literally running around (perhaps this contributed to the mistake on our order), c) the tables placement does not make the most of the floor space, d) there are not enough umbrellas for the tables on the patio and we saw staff wheeling bases and carrying umbrellas around the patio trying to satisfy more than they could with their limited supply. Janis does a great job in the face of this adversity but the hotel needs to fix this issue. Overall we got the impression that the hotel was being/had been converted into something it wasn't intended to be and it felt as though we were staying at a convention center rather than a hotel. Even the kitchen is separated from the restaurant and you'll see waiters wheeling/carrying food across the hallway as you enter the hotel by reception - really weird.

Hey K6832VKdavidh, Thanks very much for your comprehensive review! We appreciate your insight as it allows us to further improve our offerings :) We especially appreciate your patience as we adapt to, and with the PHOs in place. I do apologize if we weren't able to preemptively stock the room - at this time we try to allocate rooms according to existing requests. However many factors such as early check ins, extended stays etc. contribute to the rooms' assignment. We do have our team on 24/7 to replenish room amenities so I do apologize if your requests were missed at any point. I hope this clarifies things and I am happy to update your preferences if you'd like. Rest assured your comments regarding our balcony are currently in the works with our most recent balcony project. The shower door does sound a bit concerning and I will ensure that we have our team look at this as well. Again, we do thank you for your patience during these unique pandemic times - with an influx in our business levels in comparison with COVID staffing it can be a challenge, but we always value our guests' feedback. I hope we have another opportunity to welcome you back in the near future to show you the seamless experience I know we can provide :) If there is anything further you'd like to discuss please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at guest.experience@laurelpoint.com Looking forward to connecting with you in the future again! -Michelle, Guest Experience Agent

We were guests at the Inn and highly recommend this property. We are seasoned elderly travelers and compare this Inn to any 5* world wide. Our accommodation was a Studio 2 Q Harbour View Suite 3rd floor Erickson Wing. The glass terrace is very large with room for a scooter plus furniture. The ultra luxurious washroom is lovely. While all the above is wonderful the main asset of the Inn is their staff - from greetings at all times entering and departing Inn, to reception staff and dining room staff. Outstanding service. Travel Best Bets has a promo for this Inn and our Travel Agent in Salmon Arm at Maritime Travel quickly booked us in. We again Thank the Inn at Laurel Point for such a delightful wonderful 3 day visit.

The hotel staff were absolutely incredible, every single department! They always went above and beyond to accommodate our casts needs. Kyla- Rae in sales is wonderful, she is very easy to communicate with and we truly appreciate her for helping accommodate our ever changing needs. Our cast and crew loved the atmosphere of the hotel, the location (within a short walking distance to downtown Victoria) and the beautiful spacious rooms with breathtaking views. Thank you from all of us at American Dreamer Films Inc!

We are local and not in our home due to a flood. We are living in various hotels currently. This hotel seriously needs televisions made this century. I kid you not, they must be original to the Erickson wing in the early 90's. Must be the first flat-screen. Small screen like 36" if lucky. No HDMI ports. Don't expect to use your stick or Roku for your Netflix. They have regular TV or you can pay a month's Netflix fee to rent one of the movies from a very poor selection. It's COVID, there is no nightlife, so you end up in your room. Also they need to get some heat in the bathroom. The bathroom is massive and every surface is dated stone that is not heated so it's freezing on your feet and this hotel doesn't provide slippers like every other hotel has this month. There is no heat source in the bathroom at all. Bring slippers. The glass shower walls are scary. They move because of the way they are installed. It's amazing no one has been injured. Seriously don't be having sex and leaning on the glass in any way. You could be seriously injured when the glass wall falls onto the toilet. The view we had was lovely from the deck. The location is great.

Hi Caroline, Thanks very much for your comprehensive review! I am very sorry to hear about your home - we understand that house repairs can be stressful so I hope we were able to alleviate some of that worry. We strive to provide an exceptional stay for each guest, so it is disappointing to hear that we didn't quite hit the mark this time around. I do apologize if you weren't able to find something to watch on our TVs - I can certainly pass on this feedback to our cable provider to consider their selection. I am thrilled to hear you loved the harbour views and our proximity to both downtown and the quaint James Bay! Hopefully the surrounding area kept you entertained for a bit :) It is a shame to hear that our bathrooms weren't to your liking; we normally receive outstanding feedback on the stunning architecture, and our maintenance team routinely ensures the caulkings are up to standard as well. Rest assured we have inspected the room you stayed in and I can confirm that everything is up to par :) We think that it's important to be constantly evolving our offerings and appreciate you sharing with us. If there is anything further you'd like to discuss, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at guest.experience@laurelpoint.com. Best of luck with your home repairs, and I hope we have another opportunity to show you the perfect experience you deserve in the future! Warmly, Michelle, Guest Experience Agent
