A wonderful surprise! From Angie & Henry's warm greeting to the clean quiet upgrade to a suite, we are happy we stopped! Even a wee courtyard-type verandah for smokers to step out. Price was so much better than nearby properties in Victoria, recommend you check this one out. Thanks to the staff for going above & beyond!

Gross place. I do not recommend this place. Our room was in basement. Stinky, small, low ceilings, tight hallway and elevator. Dirty room, bugs crawling on bed. Floor was dirty with crumbs. We left. Yuk!!

Having the pool open makes this place even more fun. Has some great spooky stories too. But our biggest bonus is the 24 hour checkout. That makes our stays in Victoria so much easier if we need an early start.

I tried to make a reservation with the Red Lion Inn in Victoria and after viewing the site on line I called the property directly to make sure I could get a handicapped room for my wife is in a wheelchair. He first stated that he was very busy and said "could you hurry up", and then stated that the room I reserved was not a handicapped room and that I would have to get a suite if I wanted a handicapped room. Then I asked him if any rooms had a walk in shower. Since I had viewed one n the website. He said he had no rooms with walk in showers and had never had any. At that point I told him I was looking at one on the website. At this point he started to raise his voice and became very indignant towards me stating he was the manager for 15 years and that I was wrong. Effectively calling me a liar. At that moment I asked for his name and he refused to give it to me. I asked again. Again he refused. I stated I was going to notify corporate. Again he refused. All the while yelling at me over the phone. Finally after the eighth attempt to get his name did he yell Chris over the phone and I finalized the phone call. I am very disappointed in not only the kind of service I received, but also I felt very violated by the way I was treated over the phone. If this is the kind of service I can expect then I will never stay at any of your establishments ever again. I will also give you a very negative review in every platform available. I will also have to report this to the disabilities magistrate in the corresponding jurisdiction. I am very disappointed with this transaction and for the way I was treated by an employee from your organization. I only hope that you will respond to this message and effectively train your employees real customer service and how to speak to a perspective client over the phone. So in the future someone else does not have to endure that kind of treatment. I am very upset and disappointed. Sincerely, Marshell Osborne

We had a great trip. The suite was massive and very nice. Perfectly clean. The tv was massive. The bed was comfortable. Shower was good and bath tub had jets (which was a nice surprise). There really wasn’t anything bad to say about the hotel. The only thing I would advise against is going to the restaurant. The food was terrible, took an hour to cook and their service was terrible too.

Really appreciated the kitchenette with the microwave, fridge, 2 burners, kettle, toaster, soap detergent, dish rack, utensils, cookware, plates, bowls. Good price for 2 beds, drawers, flatscreen TV, bathroom. To make any future stays even better, I would suggest putting a grab bar at an angle above the bathtub for people taking showers to grab onto...turning the mattresses on the beds every so often (half my mattress was soft and lumpy while the other half was firm)...have thicker iron covers or at least triple them up as the capris I was ironing imprinted the holes in the metal ironing board!!...offer paper towels (can be the cheap brown ones you can rip off in a box) in the kitchenette.

This Hotel is very close walking Distance to Uptown Mall and fast food restaurants 5min walk (saanich rd) or just past the shell station across Douglas st. Dennys 1blk away. Trek Bicycle Rentals is a 35min walk South on the bike GG path and I highly recommend it (ask for Troy) rates a lot cheaper than downtown. Good bikes. The Pool really needs a reno (fresh paint etc) , it may be clean but by the look of it I didn't even try it. The water looked slightly green with possible algae. The front desk staff were excellent and helpful to us and its a clean hotel just older .

We regularly stay at the Red Lion Inn and Suites (2 adults, 3 children - age 4, 10, 12) as it is the most affordable accommodation for our family of 5 when we need to spend a night or two in the city. The proximity to everything else is great, and although you do sometimes have to park a bit away, there is always ample parking (you can always load in/load out at the front). Somehow, the rooms are always so quiet - we were there this time when totally booked out and still no noise. In the summer, the outdoor pool is always a hit with the kids, it's always very clean and well kept. We've never had any issues with room cleanliness - we run a cleaning service in our small community that includes hospitality cleaning contracts, so we are pretty fussy, too! I love that the floors are all granite, gone are the days of gross hotel carpet!! The staff have always been really nice to us, and have accommodated our requests really well. Extra blankets and pillows, extra coffee - no problem. Late check out, usually no problem. My only critique that has only come up the last few visits is the set up for couch beds/extra bedding. I am certain that a number of years ago I stayed at the Red Lion with some family members, and I ended up sleeping on the pullout bed and it was like sleeping on a CLOUD it was so comfy. It was a proper pullout couch bed, and I think there was an added memory foam topper. I would gladly sleep on that again! The last few visits we have been, where the set up has been a suite with either a kind bed or two doubles in the bedroom and a couch bed in the living room, the couch bed has been a "click clack" style bed, where the couch cushions are the bed. The bed is not made up for additional guests (which knowing from hospitality experience, is probably so that guests can enjoy the couch during non-sleeping hours) so it is on the guests to fold out the click clack bed and make up the bedding. Though totally passable and clean as a sleeping surface, the bed is really not very comfortable. As we have three daughters, we usually give them the bedroom and my husband and I sleep out on the couch bed. We're in our late 30's and after a day running around with those monsters we are tired and old and ready to sleep! I've also found that the bedding that is included for this bed to be some what insufficient - both times including the sheets, one pillow and the brown insulator blanket (i.e. there are not enough pillows or a comforter). Also, I think a rollaway bed option would be great, and I'd definitely pay to have that option. This past visit we were 5 to a suite, king bed in the room and double click clack couch. We made it work because our 3 girls are happy to be cozy and share a giant bed, but if the option were there we'd loved to have had a cot to toss the youngest on. That is all! We will absolutely be back time and time again, but this is the one thing we have not thoroughly enjoyed during our last few stays.

Dirtiest place I've ever stayed at. See attached photos. I would not recommend staying there. See if you can find another place close by, as the location was really good. Easy walk to an outdoor mall for provisions, close to a car rental place, and the Galloping Goose hiking/biking trail is right behind the hotel, which takes you directly downtown.
