Great location, walking distance to everything we needed and clean but would never stay here again. The parking was a couple blocks away and locked at 6:00pm so if you needed your car after that or to park after that you needed a special fob that needed to be used and returned immediately, just an inconvenient hassle. The shower water pressure was TERRIBLE and the water took forever to heat up. The pillows were so thick and firm they were unusable for us. No hair dryer in the room even though I asked ahead of time and was told there was. Couldn’t find a place to get ice even though we had an ice bucket in our room? We could hear someone in loud soled shoes walking on the floor above us starting very early in the mornings. Our window faced the alley type area and the garage truck or recycling truck came to pick up clinking banging glass bright and early which was very loud and annoying. Never got a good sleep or a good shower. We did enjoy our trip but did not enjoy the hotel or room and would not choose this place again.…
I attended a dinner event (upwards of 120 people) hosted at the Union Club. It was my first visit. Although it was a set menu, the food was excellent and was promptly delivered to guest so as to arrive at the tables hot. The staff was amazing: they were efficient, polite, pleasant and they truly made this a wonderful experience.
Superb service, room, and location. Looking forward to returning. From booking to departure, the service and accommodation was fantastic. We really enjoyed the location so close to all that is beautiful about downtown Victoria.
The Union Club is our 'go to' accommodation in Victoria! We love it for the high quality service, fantastic location, comfortable rooms and historic charm. And, the pricing for the room and food/beverage is good value compared to other hotels. The breakfast and dinners that we had were nice and the menu had plenty of choices. Luckily the patio was open during our stay and we dined outside with the sunset. For standard queen rooms (no view), we've stayed in a couple of rooms but liked 102 the best. It has two large windows in the main room and a window in the bathroom for for lots of natural light and fresh air. However, 102 does not have a step-in shower. We've stayed in 108 before, which has a modern step-in shower. Unlike other hotels, there are lovely inside areas in the club for relaxing, meeting friends, grabbing a cocktail or reading. The great hall and the library are truly unique. Last but not least, the location of the club is perfect - next to the harbour and steps away from all the highlights of Victoria. We highly recommend the accommodation at the club!…
A historic classy hotel with an old world charm. The rooms are small but the bed was very comfortable. The rain shower is nice! Staff at the front were very helpful. No experience with the rest of the amenities as we are not members. Within 5 minutes walking distance to Harbour and wharf area. Provides access to all the patios you can ask for! Parking not included and located two blocks away.
The Union Club IS Victoria. Its a must to visit. The restaurant has an excellent menu, seating arrangements are spacious and private and the service is blue ribbon. The woodwork, architecture, decor, artwork is amazing.
A cherished memory of our 35th anniversary was our stay at the Union Club this September. We spent the night on a weekday to mark our special day and were delighted with the wonderful room, service and meal. This has a club feel but is most welcoming for everyone. Rooms are both historic and well appointed with great wifi, smart TVs, amazing beds with high quality linen. With relatively few rooms you won’t need to worry about crowed common areas and dining. That coupled with a inner harbour location makes for a perfect place to stay and experience Victoria’s downtown. We enjoyed a dinner out and an amazing breakfast at the Club. We highly recommend this place for couples who value historic surroundings and personal service.
Full of history and charm this stunning hotel is right in the heart of Victoria with easy access to many interesting places. Good choices for breakfast served in a beautiful setting. Thank you Jonathan and all members of staff you were all very welcoming and helpful. We certainly recommend this historic The Union Club of British Columbia and hope to return.
What a hidden gem if you want some down time to relax and enjoy some time away from hustle bustle. Great staff with knowledge of history and places to go , food is top notch .thanks Johnathan for all your help while staying
My husband and I stayed here on February 14th and 15th of February, 2020. We had a fabulous time in this old English hotel. We had a two room suite that was very well kept, bright, clean and rich in culture and history, overlooking the Victoria harbor. It even had the original coal fireplace that was used at the turn of the century. The food in the dining room, was presented beautifully, and was very good. The portions were big and the food was very fresh and tasty. The staff were welcoming and helpful as soon as we walked through the door, especially Jonathon C. who gave some great ideas on places to go and places to eat. This is our 4th time that we have stayed over the years and will continue to come.
