The Craigmyle garners appreciation for its friendly staff and historic charm, providing guests with a cozy and welcoming stay. While the hotel boasts well-decorated rooms and common areas that evoke a homey ambiance, some guests have noted the absence of TVs and AC, and occasional noise. Despite issues with hot water and Wi-Fi, the clean and comfortable accommodations are considered fairly priced. The hotel's prime location is frequently praised for its convenience to downtown attractions, yet it maintains a peaceful atmosphere.

This is a wonderful find of a hotel: clean, with lovely architecture, competitively priced and brilliantly located in a beautiful neighbourhood within walking distance of downtown and very close to major bus routes. As more of a self-serve hotel with very limited on-site staff, it really suits independent travellers.

I arrived after check in times and found it easy and well sign posted. A few stairs at the front and no ramp or lift so struggled with the pram although everyone was really helpful. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had upgraded me to a gorgeous suite for me and my baby with no extra charge for 3 put of 4 nights. The free laundry service was useful for me with a 5 month old baby and the staff were incredibly helpful. The owner and his wife couldn't do enough to make the stay nice and have cute little things like clean slippers to wear. The breakfast wasn't that great. One morning there was no hot water until 8am (an hour late) to make tea and when it did arrive it wasn't that hot. Lots of breakfast items missing and the young girl said she couldn't find any of it. She eventually found the eggs and cooked scrambled eggs but that was too late for me nearing 9am as I was heading out. The fresh fruit at breakfast was gorgeous and lots of variety of different jams and spreads. They say breakfast is served at 7am but if I go down at 7 not everything is out and ready so I end up waiting until 8am anyway if I want access to all the varieties. I would definitely stay here again! It is great value for money, lovely staff and although the breakfast could improve, it isn't a deal breaker for me. They put a cot in my upgraded room, constantly offered help with my baby and made travelling alone feel a lot nicer. It is very quiet and other reviews say it is noisy, I stayed in 2 different rooms and didn't hear a thing from others! Other guests also mentioned they never heard my baby cry (my jet lagged baby!) so it is very quiet.

Gorgeous decor and very clean!

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay in this welcoming homelike environment. The staff were friendly and helpful, interested in your queries while they kept the home well maintained. We loved how nicely the 1913 wooden trim had been kept up in the living room and dining area as well as in our bedroom. The breakfast included a large variety of choices to start the day. Highly recommended.

Could not get the shower to work so had to call. "Pull hard" they told us on the phone (the only way to reach anyone). Then the tub drained very slowly - extremely unsanitary as pipe was partly plugged and water was backing up into tub. Sink stopper would not open until cleaning lady showed us in morning when we were leaving "Hahahah .... push hard!" she said! Useless to know when we were leaving.
This is the worst Bed and Breakfast in terms of hospitality that we have even stayed in during our travels over the last 40 years. The owners have "orders or rues" for every aspect of your stay. They are only there from 3 to 6PM. Breakfast which was served as a help-your-self buffet like you would get at a "Value Inn" or "Days Inn". It was pathetic. "Make sure you clear you tables and clear your dirty dishes we were told".My recommendation? DO NOT STAY IN THIS BED AND BREAKFAST!

Thanks for your feedback. And we are sorry for inconvenience. Actually you don’t need pull hard to open shower. Occasionally guests don’t know how to do it. We told you how to do it on the phone. Also just push sink stopper to open it. It’s the way most sinks work. We serve buffet in the morning as described. There are many options. And there is a concierge assisting guests check in at 3-6pm. There are always staff here in daytime when guests need help. Emergency number is available 24 hours 7 days. We are sorry again for your unpleasant experience.

We stayed two nights in the Garden Suite, which was beautifully decorated, very clean and cozy. Because we were in Victoria for a medical procedure, being only a six minute drive from Royal Jubilee Hospital was perfect. We were especially grateful that this particular suite has a kitchen as well as a private entrance, so we could bring our own food and and also order meals delivered directly to our door. The staff were very kind and accommodating. This was my second time staying at the Craigmyle (first time a few years ago, also needing to be near the hospital) and both times I was so thankful to be able to stay in such an incredible, comforting place, at such a reasonable cost. Highly recommended.
Covid policies: I didn't see any Covid policies on the website, but there was a sign outside the main entrance to the Inn requiring masks, staff were masked, and when I asked if staff were fully vaccinated, was told "Yes". They also said they use a spray disinfectant after cleaning the rooms.

Our reservation at the Craigmyle turned out to be a pleasant surprise! This property is more like "home" than any hotel could every be. Breakfast was excellent the next morning, and the great room where guests can gather and visit or read is very comforting. Our only disappointment, if you can even call it that, was the parking which is all on the street. We were late arrivals to the Craigmyle and had to park a block away, which was not a hardship for us but those with mobility issues would have a challenge with parking farther away and the stairs. All in all, we will definitely stay again at the Craigmyle on a future visit.

We were delighted to spend more than a week at the Craigmyle, which is located in a beautiful neighbourhood of Victoria. The building is lovely. Everything is kept very clean, the staff are friendly and helpful. The room we had was attractive, and the bed very comfortable. The main level (fully equipped kitchen that can be used by guests; dining room; salon/living room) is available to guests. A laundry room is also available from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. The breakfast is substantial and good quality - nothing fancy, but good food to get you ready to go for the day!

The hotel is right next door to the Craigdarroch Castle, which is not only lovely to look at from the dining room and some of the rooms at the back of the hotel, but which is also well-worth a visit. A dedicated group of volunteers has made this an extremely interesting place to see. The tour is set up to emphasize the varied history of the building over the last century and a quarter, as well as to provide information about the interesting (and troubled) family that build it and were its first inhabitants.

The hotel is also close to Government House and the parkland that surrounds it, as well as to the Victoria Art Gallery.

Only a 5 minute walk from Cook Street Village and a 20 minute walk to the Victoria Harbor this hotel is worth it and more!! On the Craigdarroch Castle property this hotel has so much character, but yet is one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. The people working here are amazingly friendly, warm and hospitable. I am going to become a regular visitor on my stays in Victoria.

I was pleasantly surprised by the upgrade I received for changing my original booking to accommodate their current guest request to extend his stay in my booked room.
The garden suite was spacious, clean, very comfy bed and pillows (most appreciated by my neck issues) and a spectacular view of the castle directly in front out my dining table. The room also had an office nook desk which made it comfortable to set up my work space. The lovely patio area accessed to walkway to the castle a few meters away. The kitchen was handy for making meals (no oven)
Breakfasts were delicious with choices of fruits, eggs, muffins, bagels, toast, and tea/coffee/juice and served in the dining room.
I soaked in the splendour and luxurious furnishings ambience in the sitting and dining rooms of this beautiful historic home.
The host Steven and wife (sorry I didn’t get her name) were very kind and gracious, surpassing the 5*level in my opinion :-)
The property met all covid19 protocols and made one feel safe and at ease.
I have already passed on my recommendations to my colleagues for this lovely treasure of a B&B
Thank you for your hospitality!
Sincerely
Daniela Harbin

I loved staying in the Master Suite of this very charming B&B. The Craigmyle brings you back in time 100 years when this Rockland neighborhood in Victoria was the haven of the upper classes. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet offered plenty of options: scrambled egg, fruit, lots of baked goods etc. The establishment is 108 years and dont expect a 5 star hotel but it was certainly the best bang for my buck that I could find in Victoria. The Craigmyle will be my first choice of accommodarion on future visits to the garden city.

Buchart Gardens is easy to get to from The Craigmyle utilising the BC transit system. Catch bus #11 on Yates street ( a couple of blocks from Craigmyle), hop off at Market and take bus #30/75 to Buchart. Just look up the route on the BC transit system website to verify my bus numbers. I think it was just a 20-30 minute ride.

Hi Barbara, We would love to have you stay with us but we have many stairs and we are not close to the ocean. You should contact the Dashwood Manor - they are on Dallas rd. facing the Ocean. Not sure if they have handicap access. It case you are capable of coming one day, the Craigmyle has been fully renovated and all the rooms are redone and beautiful. We will be launching our new website with all new photos at the end of May. It's not old and creaky anymore. ;)
