The Magnolia Hotel And Spa stands out for its luxurious and elegant atmosphere, with a prime location that allows easy access to downtown Victoria's attractions. Guests have called out the clean, comfortable rooms with modern amenities, despite some noting their compact size. The hotel's service receives consistent acclaim for its friendly and attentive staff, and the amenities, including the dining experiences, earn rave reviews. While most travelers deem the value fair, especially with the included breakfast, a few mention the cost of parking and dining as pricey.

Coming from the Gulf Islands my husband and I have been to The Magnolia Hotel and Spa frequently over the last few months for pleasure and medical appointments. The hotel staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. From the valet and front desk staff to the housekeepers and restaurant staff everyone made out trips comfortable and relaxing. A special shout out to Mackenzie in the dining room who always smiling and friendly.

Stayed here for 4 nights over a weekend in mid January. This an older ‘boutique hotel’ that is meticulously maintained situated in downtown Victoria within a short walk of almost everything you might want to see in the city center. Roughly a 30 minute drive from the airport of which 95% is on the highway. You must pay to park your vehicle in the downtown area - costs vary according to your tolerance for inconvenience. The hotel does valet for $30/day. Checkin was pleasantly done and very efficient. The staff were invariably pleasant and helpful, but unobtrusively so. The hotel is not large so only 2 elevators but we never had to wait long. The lobby bar/ restaurant was very nice, and again the staff were exceptional. Breakfast was included with a nice continental service. You can go for the hot options at extra cost less $10 as a credit to the included breakfast.

We had a room on the 5th floor facing away from the harbor. Room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Everything worked. No deficiencies were detected. The Dyson hair drier was an unexpected pleasure for my wife. Coffee machine was used everyday, the room staff upping the number of pods unasked when they noticed we had gone through the allotted number.

Overall this was a 5* experience marred by Friday and Saturday nights where the noise from a club situated at the end of the block sent its thumping base line into the room starting at 10 PM and ending at 2AM. This was mildly annoying but the sound was largely eliminated by the use of ear plugs. Not the fault of the hotel but a negative nonetheless. One star deduction.

Definitely recommended with the caveat mentioned above. Perhaps requesting a room on the harbor side would solve this problem.

This hotel really lived up to our expectations and the reviews online. The service was excellent, the hotel very clean with that Boutique feel to it
The rooms are decked out with great amenities: Dyson hairdryer, Nespresso machine, l'Occitane toiletries, and the most comfortable and cozy bathrobes.
Breakfast can be had in the Courtney room adjacent to the hotel, or delivered to your room through room service.
Location couldn't be more central. 2 blocks away from the Empress and harbor, restaurants are all within walking distance
There is parking available onsite through Valet, however, they also guide you to a public parkade which costs less than $5/day
I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Victoria, and go back myself on our next visit!

This hotel became one of our favorites! The room was spacious, cozy and offered the very best in bedding and accessories like a Dyson hair dryer! The room we stayed in was beautiful and clean. The housekeepers paid attention to details when making up the room, folding the clothes, and organizing our bathroom supplies. The location is perfect - right downtown and moments from the harbourfront.

Dear Kevin K, Thank you for your kind review and for choosing The Magnolia for your stay in Victoria. It was so nice to read that you enjoyed the attention to detail, and the hotel location being so central to downtown and the waterfront Inner Harbour area. Also great to read that you enjoyed the DYSON hairdryers. We sampled the DYSON hairdryers over the summer for our Diamond level, and they were so popular we've now included them in all rooms. So nice that you enjoyed this amenity. I hope we have the pleasure to see you back soon! If I can be of personal assistance in any way, please let me know at GM@Magnoliahotel.com Kind Regards, Bill Lewis General Manager The Magnolia Hotel & Spa

We were in Victoria for five nights for work and stayed in Magnolia. We used Expedia to book and had a VIP extra which is a room upgrade and a $25 dining voucher. The location was right down town close to waterfront. It was very convenient to walk around the main shopping area and dining scenes. It was also close to the bus route to work.

The hotel was nicely decorated and the staff were all very pleasant. Mask are required and sanitizer was provided. The room was spacious and very comfortable with five stars provision such as fluffy bathrobes and slippers. Beds are comfortable, shower has plenty of hot water. Some bath salts would have been great as I forgot to bring my own.

There was no housekeeping because of Covid but because we stayed five nights we were allowed house keeping on one of the days which have to be prescheduled. We decided we didn’t need it instead we asked for fresh towels and extra toiletries. The provincial health orders changes the night we arrived with regards to indoor dining so we didn’t get to eat at Courtney room. However they let us use the $25 dining credit for room service.

Car park was not included. We parked elsewhere not too far away. We didn’t really use our car much during the five days trip. So we did end up paying quite a bit for the car to be in the car park!

We asked for late check out on Good Friday so that we could go for a two hours kayaking at Ocean River Adventure and then came back for a quick shower before checking out. We are very grateful for the late check out.

They are some renovating work but we were not really affected as I worked during the day time and hubby was out a lot. The nights were quiet and we both slept very well every night.

Will stay again.

This boutique hotel is my favourite place to stay in Victoria. The service of the staff is top notch. There is a cozy elegance here without pretension. We had booked the most inexpensive room but since it was January and not a busy time of year I asked if we could have a complimentary upgrade. Upon our arrival, I mentioned the upgrade and to our delight they gave us a room that was a 4 level upgrade. Our room was spacious with a view of Victoria’s harbour. There was a lovely fireplace and a huge bathtub to luxuriate in. The beds were super comfy and they even provide a choice of pillows some soft, some firmer.Their Spa Magnolia is top notch. I had a facial and ny friend had a massage at the spa and it was totally relaxing. We ate lunch at the hotel’s restaurant and the food and service was good. The hotel’s location is on a quieter side street but is right in the heart of the tourist area. It is close to the harbour, Parliament Buildings, B.C. Provincial Museum and shopping. I highly recommend this hotel.

Absolutely wonderful wedding anniversary at the Magnolia, including dinner and breakfast in the Courtney Room, and massages in the Spa.
We booked directly through the hotel website because they offer a Victoria resident special deal, including a dining credit, free breakfast and parking discount. The room was a basic one but very comfortable with 2 queen beds (a little firm but slept well on them), clean and well equipped with a Nespresso coffee maker plus electric kettle and fridge. The bathroom had a shower plus separate bathtub, and a Dyson hairdryer. Everything was clean and in good shape.
We enjoyed the little touches like the warm bathrobes and slippers, and that brown sugar as well as white were provided, and milk and cream were already in the fridge when we arrived.
Our massages in the Spa were excellent. Staff were friendly and professional, rooms were warm and quiet.
For dinner we had the Chef's Seasonal Tasting Menu, which was a new experience for us. Interesting and complex flavors that we would never normally have tried (some foods that we'd never even heard of). I had let the staff know that my wife has some food allergies a few days before we arrived; they emailed to clarify, and then double-checked when we sat down. They devised substitutions which were a very good match to the regular ingredients in texture and flavor. The servers were knowledgeable, efficient and friendly.
Breakfast was also very tasty including real fruit and thick meaty bacon, and good coffee. Again, excellent service.
I'd like to give a thank-you to the guest services, desk and valet staff. We asked for
an early check-in, and since it was our 45th wedding anniversary, I wanted to surprise my wife with a bouquet of flowers waiting in the room. They clarified my request by email and phone call, and the bouquet was in the room when we checked in. The service charge was very reasonable. The staff also sent up a bottle of Prosseco on ice for us both to help us celebrate, which certainly loosened us up for our massages. All the staff we met were friendly, courteous, obliging and efficient.
Not a cheap night out, but we felt it was good value for a special experience.

My wife and I spend 3 nights at the Magnolia for a weekend getaway. Upon arrival at the hotel we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff and given our room keys. Upon entering our room on the second floor, we were impressed by the size of the room including the bathroom. The room contained a double bed, desk with chair, two sitting chairs with ottoman, table which had a glass bottle of water on it that was refilled daily, mini-fridge and safe. A special touch were bathrobes and slippers in the room. The bathroom had a walk-in shower as well as a soaker tub which was nice after lots of walking during the day. The hotel is located close to the water, shopping and many restaurants. A continental breakfast was included but the choices were limited. However, we did receive $10 off a regular priced breakfast if we wanted. During our stay any staff including front desk, room attendants we met were courteous and polite. We would definitely recommend the Magnolia for anyone looking to stay at a nice relaxing hotel close to everything.

Sorry for being so late. They do have valet parking and i think the charges are in line. There is a public parking lot right across the street at a cheaper rate. You may find that downtown Victoria is a great walking town, well within the range of the hotel

I asked about my small dog and they were open to the idea but I think that decision is made on an individual basis. I did not bring her with me because I was afraid she would bark or whine when we left her alone and I didn't want to disturb other guests. That was my experience but it was negotiated with the hotel. They are kind and courteous and very helpful, I'd say give 'em a call. :-)
