This has to be the worst hotel I have ever seen. Upon my first arrival the out side of the building is a very old heritage building, with homeless people begging for change right outside the front doors. Going upstairs to see our room, we found the room in a disgusting state with God knows what on the headboard? 😕...

I would say that the best part about this hotel was its location-right in the middle of downtown. Other than that, I would probably never stay there again. Our room was pretty gross, as it seemed like it had never been cleaned. During your stay, nobody will clean your room. They will give you some new water glasses, but that's...

We stayed two nights at this centrally located older hotel. The front desk staff are very efficient and friendly. The daily continental breakfast which is included in the price of the room, is a great way to start your day. They serve waffles, muffins, toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruits, juice and tea/coffee. We stayed on the 5th floor, our...

Appearance was great, very clean. Beds were comfy, but not the softest. Pillows were my fav part of the stay. I love my pillows, and the more pillows the merrier. Would recommend it, especially for downtown.

On the 1st night of my stay, at the Strathcona, there was banging and other noises as if someone was repairing plumbing. I was about to complain when the noise ceased. (This was at 11:10pm). I then had a relatively good sleep, but overslept, so wasn't up as early as I'd planned re the noise late into the night. The...

If you really want to stay right in the heart of the city, this is the place. The hotel has the greatest selection of bars/restaurants in the whole city - right in the ground floor. But everything else is right nearby. Stay here and you are walking distance of everything. Front desk staff are friendly and very efficient.

Obviously, at $70 a night, you shouldn't expect the lap of luxury. But that being said, the Strathcona is a very good hotel for the price. Some Pros and Cons that may or may not be important to you in your decision making: Pros: -hotel is very charming, and the rooms are basic but clean -staff very helpful and friendly...

Central location, friendly staff, easy access, very comfortable room and downstairs bar/restaurant all combined to make this a great place to stay whilst in Victoria. Easy to walk to a range of sites and to link in with public transport.

The people from the hotel were very helpfull and really nice, they gave good advise. The breakfast was great and had a lot of choice. The rooms were nice, especially the bath. Good wifi. Not expensive. We even came back for diner in their pub with Christmas while all the restaurants in town were closed and their food was good...
