Stayed here for three nights. The hotel had everything we needed, and the breakfast was great. The hillbilly bar was fun to visit, but we liked the pub better, as they showed european soccer during our stay. Room cleaning could have been better.

Andreas, Thank you for your review of the Strathcona Hotel. I am pleased you enjoyed Big Bad John's and the Sticky Wicket Pub. I will stop by and talk to our executive housekeeper.

professional counter service, comfortable room and breakfasts were generous and tasty-also they have a nightclub/lounge and other services in a character building located centrally for sightseeing etc.

My wfes idea. I stayed here in the 80s on drinking trips. In wwI it was used as army barracks. Rooms are still worthy of barracks. Unsecured pay parking puts it in the same price range as nicer properties.

Brian, Our pricing is very reasonable compared to other downtown hotels and our parking fees also. Yes, if you wish to stay further away from the downtown core you may find accommodations and parking at a similar price.

The location is really great, BUT the room where I stayed was super noisy and if you plan to stay during the weekend you're going to hear every single sound from the street and a very loud music from a pub or nightclub. The wifi is horrible, don't waste your time trying to access it.

We stayed only one night at the Strathcona where we were meeting friends who were coming to meet us and stay from Vancouver. The Strathcona staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are showing some age and look quite tired, but in some ways it adds to the experience of this historical hotel. The rooms were clean, the beds...

Natalie and I did a staycation in Victoria in December and stayed at the Strathcona Hotel. The desk staff were quick and efficient at checking us in, and offered us a choice of the front of the hotel (on the Main Street) or at the rear, away from the traffic and night club bustle. We Opted for the front of...

Fantastic, central location where it is a few minutes walk to everything. Continental breakfast, though basic (some fruit offerings, bagels/toast/waffles, cereal selection, yogurt), is provided. Staff were very nice and eagerly answered any questions that we had. No coffee/tea in the room but free offerings in the lobby. Cons were that wifi was very slow and kept timing out. Saturday...

Chantalle, thank you for your review. Our great location does come with downtown street noise. If possible request a room not facing Douglas Street.

The room was clean. Bedding was great! Furniture old and beat up. Black mould in corners of bathtub. Nothing special about the continental breakfast but the food was great at night at the Stickey Wicket. Be prepared when you check in to be rudely treated by Malcolm at the front desk!

Check in was easy and quick, staff were efficient and friendly. Was in a prime location downtown Victoria with restaurants and night life all around. The room was fine, clean and simple. Definitely outdated but that didn't bother me at all since we were only sleeping there anyway. Room rates were very fair and I would definitely recommend it to...

Great hotel for visiting Victoria for 1 day. Walking distance to anywhere. Just outside the hotel you can take the bus heading to Buchard gardens 1 hour distance and they will drop you off in front of the hotel. 2 hours in the gardens is enough for going back to Vancouver in the same day. There is not too much...
